Elfie is here on special Santa's Orders to find his foster or forever home!  Can you help him?  He is located in Alexandria, VA.  Elfie is a 5 year old, 7 tiny pound maltese.  Elfie arrived after living a life as a breeder dog and is now ready to be a loved, inside pet!  At the kennel, Elfie is keeping his crate clean and walking nicely on the leash.  He is a bit shy when meeting people at first so a home without young kids is needed and no city living for Elfie.  He's a suburban kind of boy.  If you can help Elfie with a home, please email fosters@cockerspanielrescue.com.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 16, 2024, 8:28 pm

Story
****Zeke is part of a bonded pair with Lucky Hi. I'm Zeke. I'm a 1 y/o male morkie ( Maltese/yorkie mix) who is part of a bonded pair along with my shitsu sister, Lucky. I am considered a "designer dog because 2 small, non shedding dogs were bred together. I get along well with other small dogs and all people, including children. I am playful and love toys and bones. I also love to sleep in foster mom's bed. My energy level is low and I don't bark unless I hear the UPS guy. I prefer to stay indoors. I am good on the leash and love walking in the neighborhood. I am crate trained, pee pad trained, and almost house broken. I do get nervous in the car if I am not with my sister. So, if you are interested in 2 well behaved, small dogs have your peeps call mine and we'll get this love affair started. Adoption fee local in Texas is $700 for the both of them, the out of state fee is $1200, this includes the transport fee for both of them as well as the fuel surcharge.

For inquiries email elizabeth@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $600 Location: Chesapeake, VA Things to consider when applying to adopt Stewie: He walks well on lead He is obedient, comes when called Potty manners have been great so far (that will change when he changes households until he gets used to the new environment) Plays well with the resident dogs Respectful of the young/small grandchild that visits He is very friendly and loves to cuddle Medium-High energy and will benefit from a consistent exercise program He does like to chew so he will need appropriate chew toys/treats He will chew on inappropriate items if left in his reach, he should be in a safe space when owners are away He is crate trained and happily goes in his crate when asked He is a toy destroyer and must be watched with any dog toy   Stewie is just about perfect according to foster mom. He is a 2-3 year old small, fluffy, mixed breed (maybe bichon, poodle, maltese type) pup weighing about 14 pounds. He is very sweet. He plays well with the resident dogs. He is respectful of the grandchildren. He will chew on any item left within his reach so he should be monitored/watched closely with any toys. To avoid unnecessary trips to the ER, No items (shoes, clothes, stuffed toys) should be left in reach when you are not watching him closely Bully sticks and super chewer toys should be given to him only under close supervision. Stewie will be neutered on November 14th. Once healed, he is ready for his new home. He is microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. Don't miss out on this lovebug! He is a great pup!         Please visit our website www.compactcaninerescue.org to learn more about this amazing pet and see other adoptable dogs.

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - PEARL BREED - Maltese SIZE - About 10 pounds AGE - 8 years GENDER - Female MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Pearl is a beautiful female Maltese who came to us recently from a breeding operation in North Carolina. Understandably this sweet little lady is learning to love and trust humans since being a beloved pet has not been a part of her past life. Pearl arrived with two other females from the same household and they cling to one other for comfort, yet all are very easily handled and snuggled. Each will do well with a caring owner who has consistent time to give to them to make them feel loved and secure. Fully grown at just 10 pounds, she is a perfect size for most homes. Upon arrival Pearl had conjunctivitis in both eyes, a condition we are successfully treating. Though breeders are notorious for giving only cursory care to their dogs, Pearl appears to have been treated well. She is now spayed, microchipped and vaccinated, and she has tested negative for heart worm and placed on prevention. Her skin and coat are beautiful, and she appears in very good health. At 8 years old, she is little more than a middle aged girl for her size and breed. We are seeking a home with an adopter able to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time showing Pearl consistent love and attention A home with another small, well-behaved dog may be an asset for Pearl as she acclimates. A fenced, secure yard is a must, as is a home without larger pets or small children. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the Pearl as well as our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting for you and your family to meet Pearl at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting her and determining that she matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.

BPRS has no further involvment in the adoption process unless requested by the owner and/or adopter. Here is what the current caretaker has to say:We needed to take my mother’s dog. He is a Morkie named Teddy who is 11 years old, and both Teddy and my mother are in some degree of declining health. I live in Fredericksburg while my Mom lives outside of Pittsburgh. Teddy was doing very badly last week, and I took him to a Vet near her, who diagnosed him with Diabetes along with some related vision loss. He has responded to his insulin thus far, and we are at the Blood Panels stages of his diagnosis to determine if this is manageable in the long term.  Though we were able to get help for Teddy and currently have him with us, there are some problems that will make it impossible to care for him long term. I am currently living with Teddy in our basement (I teach and have the summer off), but we already have a very bonded, reactive pair of dogs who are very anxious about Teddy and need to be kept away from him at all times. We were hoping that our dogs would be slightly more adaptable, but this has not been the case. In any case, my fear is that Teddy would become a “basement dog,” and just sit in a dark basement by himself all day. While my wife and I are committed to saving Teddy’s life, I’m not sure that that is a life that any dog would want. We are looking for a better opportunity for Teddy. I know that the diabetes and age make him not particularly adoptable, but he is a good boy, and I feel that, if the Blood Panels are favorable from the Vet, he still has a few good years left. Here are some details about Teddy:     •    He is very food-motivated and is bit on the large side right now (25 pounds)   •    From what we have seen, he is fine with other dogs  and kids. We do not know how he reacts to cats.     •    He is generally good-natured and sweet, though a little bossy.     •    We have never seen any aggressive behavior or biting from Teddy. We are not seeing any food aggression either. Forgive the length of this email. We are trying to do the right thing for all involved and it is tragically sad and horribly complicated. Any help that you can provide would be a blessing, and we are willing to do whatever it takes to find a solution. If interested in this sweet boy please email us at bobbiespitrescue@gmail.com and we will get you in touch with the current caretaker.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm
