Story
Meet Keaton, a Maltese mix who is ready to find his forever home. At 11 years old, Keaton is a senior, but he still has a lot of love and joy to share. He weighs 11 pounds and has very soft hair that doesn’t shed.
Keaton was pulled from a shelter’s euthanasia list. He came to CAMO with bad, itchy skin, bald spots, and dry eyes, but with frequent medicated baths and regular eye drops, his skin is healing, his hair is growing back, and his eyes are being managed effectively. He is also heartworm positive, but don’t let that discourage you—heartworm is preventable and treatable! He’s received treatment and will only need to be rechecked for his heartworm status in a couple of months (in Q4 2025, cost to be covered by the rescue if brought to a CAMO approved vet).
Keaton gets along well with other dogs, whether it’s a rambunctious 4-week-old puppy or a fellow senior like him. He doesn’t play much but he doesn’t cause any trouble. He is also good with young children and has never shown aggression towards his human foster sisters or his furry friends.
Though Keaton is hard of hearing and visually impaired (he only sees shadows), he gets around really well but should be kept away from stairs and high couches/beds. He is fully potty and house-trained. He will quietly stand by the door when he needs to be let out and knows his way back in if you leave the door open for him. He is also crate-trained.
Keaton is very low energy. In fact, he does not like walks, but he enjoys being let out to bask in the sun and feel the wind on his face. He also prefers to sleep in, so a soft bed is a must for him.
Keaton is neutered, fully vaccinated, and has had his teeth cleaned recently.
Despite his age and medical challenges, Keaton is a resilient and loving companion who deserves a caring and understanding home where he can spend the rest of his golden years. If you are looking for a loyal and affectionate furry friend, consider opening your heart and home to Keaton. He will bring endless joy to your life.
