Story
Opal is brand new to BR so we are still in the investigation stage. We do know she has bad skin so will probably needs so medicated shampoo and possibly some meds, her hind quarters look stiff when she walks, and she has some kind of mammary mass we need to have taken a look at. So Opal will be coming soon until we have a better read on where she is medically.February 25, 2025, 7:11 pm

Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 14 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER!!! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Story
Sally is a 1 year old, 10 lbs Maltese mix. She’s super sweet and loves nothing more than to cuddle right beside you (if not on you)! She will follow you from room to room not wanting to be left out. She seems to be mostly house-trained and we are working on crate training. She will whine when initially crated but eventually settles into her bed. She’s been good with our 2 large dogs and only showed some interest in the cats. She hasn’t been around kids yet, but I think she’d be ok with kids who are able to respect her size and space. She would definitely prefer a home where someone is home more often than not, or one where she could join on adventures outside the home.Sally is a one year old Maltipoo who came to us as a stray. She is around 10 pounds, very sweet, and good with other dogs. Available dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made. The application is the first step. Story
Meet Charlie! He is in need of a new home! Charlie is a wonderful dog! He is a 5 year old part-Havenese , part-Maltese, so hypoallergenic with virtually no shedding. Charlie has never chewed anything but his toys, never made a mess in our house (he goes to the door when he needs to go out), and has never bitten, nipped or even growled at a person. He likes to play with other small dogs (he weighs 22 pounds), but does bark at large dogs. He hasnt been around cats but doesnt seem to notice them in the neighborhood on our walks. Charlie spends most of the day in the house, but likes to be outside several times a day, except when it’s raining. A fenced yard is important, because he will run away if given the chance, although he has come back after about half an hour. He LOVES to go for walks and does pretty well on a leash. He sleeps most of the day in a bed on the floor of our living room or on my lap. He has another bed on the floor of our bedroom where he sleeps through the night without getting up. He wants to be near his people. We dont have a crate so dont know how he’d do. He loves to ride in the car. I think he was probably roughly treated at some point, because he sometimes flinches at quick movements or loud noises. He had two seizures soon after we got him, each lasting about 5 mins. But our vet put him on 30mg of phenobarbitol a day, and he has not had a seizure since. The cost is about $10/month. He has had bouts of licking his feet (or blanket or bed). The vet thought it was an allergy so prescribed 1/4 of 5mg Prednisone tablet once a day ($5/month) with varied success. She said the licking could also be because he doesnt get 30 mins of exercise per day which my wife and I cant do and is the main reason for giving him up. He has gained 4 pounds since we got him, and we just cant exercise him enough to keep his weight down. He eats one can of wet dog food a day, half in morning and half in evening. Again, he’s a great dog and we will miss him but believe he would be better with someone who can exercise him more.Apply online https://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/ or email Russellrescuetn@gmail.com if already approved  Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step.
