Story
Buffy is a 1 ¾ year old Malti Poo.  She had a traumatic situation when her 79 year old mama had a fall resulting in a brain hemorrhage.  Her Dad had passed away in October.  Buffy is a Very sweet girl, she LOVES to snuggle – spent most of her days snuggling with her dad.  She has So much energy.  Loves to run and leap – she is a far jumper.  She Loves to play catch with her little rubber critters.  Her mom called her a “Flying Wallenda”.  She has seemed to be good with other dogs – Daughter-in-law has 4, and the 2 nice ones get along great with her.  She is shy of aggressive players but warms up to them.  We don’t know how she will do with all of the changes in her life.  She needs grooming, especially if she keeps her harness on.  Her harness is great for on the leash especially and easier to catch her with if she is having trouble adjusting (OR if she finds a rogue sock or other fantastic thing she wants to steal and run around the house with!)  She would pick-pocket me every day when we visited, and try to see if I had chapstick she could steal to chew on.  Buffy was eating 2 scoops of her food a day, morning and night, but my friend looking after her gave her 1 heaping at dinner only. She often ate on a plastic tray that should be in her things.  She can be taught to eat out of a bowl, but her mom said she wouldn’t do it.  She carries the food a few steps away, often.  If there are other dogs, I think she eats faster.  However, Buffy did not receive a lot of training and consistent training, and therefore has some less desirable habits.   The most difficult one is her potty habits.  She doesn’t have many tinkle accidents But also doesn’t have a way to ask to go out.  Her mama said that she would just stare at her in a certain way, when she needed to go out.  In her mother’s house, if she didn’t poop outside, she would go behind the recliner or under the kitchen table and poop.  Sometimes would eat it.  I didn’t get the chance to order the supplements that help change the flavor or add pumpkin to see if that would help.  That is definitely her worst habit.  I believe it’s partly timing for letting her out and teaching her a signal.  She does get nervous of loud noises, even barking of other dogs.  This causes her to not finish pottying sometimes.  Other less good habits – pulling on the leash.  She pulls Very hard for a tiny dog, and runs circles around you.  But she Loves to be outside.  If she gets out, she runs very fast.  She lived on a farm and would run huge circles for a while then run home.  I believe with the right, consistent training, Buffy would be a great pet companion.Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step.
