Story
We are happy to introduce Angel, a Maltipoo recently arrived to Rhode Island!  She has been through a lot, arriving at a Houston, TX shelter in rough shape, but she has gotten the attention she needs...shaved of her mats, spayed, a lung infection treated....and will be a beauty once her coat grows back!  She was someone's loved pet at some point, and once she gets back in that setting shines with rays of joy.  We have seen that ourselves, going from a cowering dog in the shelter too shut down to even seek attention, shifting to vibrant simply by being relocated to the home of her Texas foster that very same day.  Angel is gentle, affectionate and very sweet, only wanting to be by your side.   She pays very good attention to her people without being overbearing, LOVES to go on walks, or simply to bask in the comfort of a dog bed.  She is easy to handle, gets along with kids, dogs and cats, but does not need other pets for company.  She's roughly seven years of age, so either middle aged or a very young senior, which much life left in front of her, although as is true of all dogs of a certain age, more veterinary care and expense can be expected....true of all dogs, but with these older ones it just comes sooner.  All set to go, if you have questions or would like an application, please reach out to Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com.  Southpaws' adoption fee is kept reasonable at $450, but we unfortunately cannot adopt to Massachusetts or New Hampshire residents due to state restrictions.

Story
Sweet Will found himself on the streets of Memphis where he was apparently hit by a car and was brought as a stray into the local emergency center. The team there fell in love and typically after the dog is well they send them to Memphis Animal Services but they just couldn't with this guy so we got a call. Will is approximately 5 years old and is blind - we don't know if he can see at all but it seems he cannot. He's absolutely adorable and settling in at his new foster home - he's a little nervous of course but they will work with him on "inside" living!! We will be learning more about him in the next week or so but wanted to get him out there for adoption!!We think this little man will make someone an amazing friend.Name: WillBreed: Bichon/Shih Tzu Mix (guess)Sex: MaleAge: 5 years  (estimated)Weight: 12 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Unknown - still learningGood with Dogs: Has met one other dog his size and did greatGood with Cats: Unknown - still learning Adoption Fee: $400.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:    Tennessee  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Biggles may be paralyzed but that doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest! We believe Biggles is around 5 years old and he originally came to us from Antigua after he was hit by a car. Biggles was so skinny when he arrived but he’s definitely gained some weight and muscle and now weighs 12 lbs. Taking on a paralyzed dog may be a little more work, but it is definitely so rewarding. Biggles has started to walk on his own and with some physical therapy he will just get stronger. Biggles also has a wheelchair that he can use when he is outside or for longer walks. Biggles absolutely LOVES the snow and it’s so cute to watch him play in it. Biggles does need to be expressed to urinate 3-4 times a day. This is actually very easy to do but can get a little messy. We will show any potential adopter exactly what needs to be done. He should have regular urine checks to ensure that he does not have a UTI. Biggles was heartworm positive but was treated for the disease months ago. He will still show as positive on any snap test for the next 6-8 months though. Biggles has been great with most of the dogs he’s met but he can get a little jealous of new dogs (especially intact males). But he eventually calms down. Biggles is great in a pen and isn’t very vocal. He loves to play with toys. Biggles is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and recently had full blood work and a urinalysis.
