Story
Molly is a one year old maltese/yorkshire terrerier girl, or Morkie. She has gotten the nickname Mork from Ork due to her wonderful adventures and funny exploits. She needs a family that has high energy and a great sense of humor to tackle her amazing ways. She is around 16 pounds, potty trained, crate trained and a first class cuddler. She loves the large fenced yard she is at and runs with the big dogs. She is much like a big dog in a small dogs body, and is a real talker.  She is not the best with little children as she is a little bossy. To adopt this phenomenal girl, please do our application at www.pawsandprayers.org.   Her adoption fee is $400 but well worth it with all the love she gives. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org . Molly would do best in a home with another dog, a fence and children over 12 years of age. She has lots of energy and loves to run. May 12, 2025, 7:47 am

Story
Tinka is a petite and cheerful bundle of fluff with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines as bright as her name. Despite a rough start, this sweet girl has bounced back with incredible resilience and is now ready to find a forever home that will cherish her for the loving, joyful companion she is. When Tinka arrived at the shelter, her right eye was completely matted over and severely infected. Thanks to thorough medical care and lots of TLC, her eye is no longer painful, and her overall condition has dramatically improved. However, her vision in that eye is uncertain, and she does have low tear production in both eyes, requiring ongoing treatment with artificial tears to keep her comfortable.Tinka`s long-term eye care needs are manageable but important. She will need to be evaluated by a veterinary ophthalmologist to help preserve her vision in the left eye and assess for a condition called KCS (dry eye), which can require lifelong management. Future treatment may include daily medications, and in some cases, her right eye might require removal if complications arise down the line.Despite these medical considerations, Tinka`s zest for life never wavers. She`s friendly with dogs her size or slightly larger, loves being wherever her people are, and keeps her space tidy like a little lady. If she needs to go outside, she’ll politely let you know with a tap dance of happy paws and a gentle whimper. Tinka is also wonderfully cooperative with her eye care routine and always appreciates a tasty treat for being a good patient. Tinka would thrive in a loving, attentive home ready to support her medical needs while being rewarded with a delightful companion who brings joy and affection every single day. Tinka is a special dog looking for a special someone. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a little dog with a big personality and a touch of extra care, Tinka could be your perfect match.

Story
Little Petey here is an adult Maltese male. He has lived his entire life in a kennel. He was used for breeding and because of this he is having to learn how to be a real dog and that people can actually be nice. He's a sweety pie despite all that. He is hoping to find his forever home soon so he can make up for all the missed time and happiness he's never had before. He loves other dogs and it would be very beneficial for him if you have another so he has a comfort and someone to help show him the ropes and teach him what to do and what not to do. If you're interested in him please email rescuepups411@gmail.com and if you haven't received a response within 24 hours please text 330-219-4514 thank you!

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Sadi. I'm about 10-12 years old and I weigh about 8 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Liverpool area and I was brought into the pound. I am a sweet old girl looking for a loving family to spend the remainder of my life with (however long that may be). I am currently in a foster home with both other dogs and cats and I do well with all of them. I have a little play, but I mostly spend my days snoozing and lounging around. I do have some accidents, but I am good with my potty habits for the most part. If you're looking for a sweet senior companion to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
