Story
Hi! My name is Rain. I am a really adorable girl and I am just looking for my furever home! I was dropped off at an animal shelter in South Carolina as a stray--I had a broken leg and was very sad, but I am all healed up now and right as rain! I am about 3 years old (born around 7/29/21), weigh about 12 pounds, and I love dogs, cats and kids. I am doing so well with all of them in my foster home in South Carolina! I am spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, dewormed, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for my age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. I am all ready to be adopted :) My adoption fee is $450, and covers all of my vetting, and includes transport within the next two weeks, if my new family lives in the northeast USA. ***PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO ADOPT WITHIN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS**** Please visit https://www.apply.daybeforetherainbow.com/ to fill out an adoption application form or email my rescue at taryn@daybeforetherainbow.com! Thanks for checking me out!

Story
Meet me at PawSafe, 348 Old Colony Rd. Eastford, CT What little Bear lacks in size, he makes up for in personality- BIG TIME! Bear is a riot! He is a tiny little dog(5lbs), guessed to be around 5 years old, but he has the energy of a puppy when it comes to play time. He loves other dogs, and when he gets the zoomies it is the cutest thing ever. He will run circles around anyone at lightning speed, and when when he's done he will roll around in the grass/dirt to recharge. Bear needs a little dog loving family, and a nice hair cut! He is medically up to date and neutered. *Due to state laws regarding out-of-state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts.

Story
DOB 5-25-2024 Gorgeous sweet and playful, Ayman says he is ready for a home now! Cute little MaltiPoo, Adoption fee for Ayman is 750.00, transport fee is 165.00. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Meet Nunu🩷 Nunu is a super gentle dog who gets really excited whenever she sees visitors at the shelter. She may have been abandoned by her owner without care for a long period of time, considering that she was unkempt enough to appear tattered. Adogs rescued her right away because the summer was a higher risk period for filarial infection. She was tested positive for heartworms, but is currently receiving treatment. ** Health Status - Is getting heartworm treatment. - Is monitoring with concerns about patella of hind legs and surgery may be necessary at a later stage. - Her lower canine is not in a good condition. Further check is scheduled.  * Toward People: Stays calm even when strangers touch her and grabs nicely treats from them. A slow and gentle approach is recommended because she fears large or abrupt movements. Enjoys being held and requests for being petted, when she is acclimated to people. Loves people so much and prefers adult to children.. * Toward Dogs: Has a high level of fear, and is occasionally attacked by other dogs. Tends to greet a new dog attentively and display a cautious attitude even with familiar dogs. * Separation Anxiety: Enjoys her own time. Plays cheerfully with nose-work and spends the remaining time sleeping once the nose-work is done.  * Potty Training: Outdoor potty. Does not do marking indoors. * Hygiene: Accepts soaping body nicely but does not like soaping head or rinsing. Dislikes dryer sound and dries with towels instead. Hates combing but tolerates well. * Walks: Does not pull on the leash. Is afraid of kids or bicycle.  * Car sickness: Long-distance car sickness disappears and she takes a car well without car sickness.  * Is laid-back, lovely and smart. Is a quick learner enough to sponge what she learns even only once. * No nipping or barking.

Story
Star came into my care by accident when I was in high school, given by a friend. At the time I had support to take care of her and this was in 2017. I have no idea what her exact age is but the doctors have assumed around 11 years old. What I am looking for Star in a new home is someone who likes routine, is a morning person and is honest with themselves of being more indoors. My Star is a wonderful companion. She loves being around you at all times, waiting for you if you're using the bathroom or cooking. She is very loyal and although has some joint issues that are typical for her breed, she runs around like a baby. She is honestly the sweetest dog ever. She loves cats, kids, and squeaky toys to carry to her bed with her. She is a little love ball.

Story
Update: Little Indiana Jones really had us fooled. We thought he was too young, friendly and normal to have ended up with our rescue. But as we have gotten to know him better, his inner demon dog has emerged. 👹. This 8lb maltese definitely has a dark side that can rival even our master of evil, Ray (literally, they have had a couple fence fight show downs and he does NOT back down 🤦‍♀️). Overall he’s a happy guy, tail always wagging and demanding attention. We suspect he was kept caged or crated a lot or teased behind a fence, as most of his ferocity seems connected to being behind a barrier or put in a crate. He was a scrawny hungry guy when we got him and has gained weight, but still thinks he has to protect his food so will need to continue to learn that being approached when eating means chicken or cheese will rain from the sky, not that you are going to fight him for his kibble. Trying to tell him what to do or stop him from doing what he wants will be met with a flash of (now pearly white after his dental cleaning) fangs 🦷 and some possessed-sounding noises 😖. Luckily Indiana is very praise and food motivated, so it’s just a matter of tricking him into thinking he wants to do the things you want him to do and rewarding him for doing them, rather than trying to best him a duel of any sort. Typical dude, you have to make him think he’s outsmarted you and got his own way but that it was his idea all along. 😜 He likes meeting other dogs of all sizes, though might be best living as an only dog, unless you have a chill tolerant dog who won’t mind this tiny Napoleon’s laws and creeds. Kids are a definite no for him, he would have no tolerance for their behavior and having to fend off bratty children could definitely be part of why he is the way he is. Indiana Jones is about 4-6 years old we believe, almost a solid 9lbs now that he’s a healthier weight, and should have many years to possess your home and soul. If you like little dogs with big personalities, email njwoof@cs.com to meet him in Northern NJ This intrepid little guy was exploring the woods all by himself and no one ever came looking for him 🤷‍♀️. He’s a friendly little Maltese, skinny at just under 8 lbs and we think somewhere between 3-6 years old. He barks at first but quickly warms up and likes attention and walks. He likes other dogs too, a bit too much actually- since he wasn’t neutered he can’t keep his mind out of the gutter around them if you know what we mean 😉 He should be much more pleasant around them once his hormones settle from tomorrow’s neuter 👋 👋 ⚾️ 🏀. He does go to the bathroom outside when walked but may have some accidents/mark and need a belly band initially. He seems like a nice easy going little guy for the most part and will be a sweet little companion. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet him in northern NJ by appointment Due to COVID-19, we will not be holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we can schedule socially distant appointments with a specific dog outdoors at our vet’s office: VCA Morris Plains Animal Hospital 3009 Rt 10 East Morris Plains (Denville on GPS) NJ 07950 Now is the perfect time to open your home to a needy dog! Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
