Story
Vera Lyn needs a loving home with a securely fenced yard, and at least one other friendly dog to be a companion and teacher. She will continue to thrive and gain confidence with someone who is home most of the time. She is fond of snuggling next to her person and other small dogs. Cats, larger dogs, and children are unknown. Vera is done being a puppy producer and is embracing her newfound freedom. She is a friendly and affectionate Maltese, possibly mixed with Bichon, Poodle, or another small breed. She is less than 12 pounds, and is 6.5 years old. She is getting the hang of house training and basic commands. She takes cues from the resident dogs, and is curious about everything. Vera loves exploring inside the house and fenced yard. She quickly mastered leash walking, and is very good with grooming. Vera will need some time to adjust in her new home, but looks forward to joining her forever family and living the good life! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Princess is located in Texas but can be transported once adoption is final. Transport cost is $230 (ground transport). Princess had a rough start in life. She was sold as a pup and when the owner didn't abide by the law, they were arrested. Little Princess was sent to the shelter until SCARF Rescue could find a foster to get her out. She is a sweetheart. It was quickly realized that she needed a groomer's attention. Her hair was pretty badly matted. She loves her new foster friends. She also gets along with kids. Older kids would probably be best because she gets so excited she jumps on them. Her hair will be high maintenance, so a monthly spa trip will be in order for her. She LOVES to sleep under the covers. If you think you would be a good fit for this princess, please submit an application.*Disclaimer: This pet is located in Texas.
