Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 14 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER!!! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Story
Deaf ears don’t stop Sweetie Pie from a happy life! Sweetie Pie is a gentle and loving 6-year-old Maltese who weighs almost 10 pounds and came to us as a breeder-surrender. After spending her early years without the comfort of a real home, she’s now discovering what it means to be part of a family—and she loves each and every minute of it! Sweetie Pie is deaf, but she’s incredibly intuitive and responds well to visual cues and routines. Her disability doesn’t slow her down one bit—she’s a quick learner, especially when it comes to love and trust! Because she is deaf, her adopters will need to take a few extra steps to make sure she is never off-leash outdoors or near a street. At the same time, nothing spooks her! Loud lawn mowers? No problem. Construction equipment? She doesn’t even care. She is leash-trained, and she’s also very close to being potty trained and is used to wearing a diaper in the house, which she tolerates like a champ. Sweetie is crate-trained, has no food aggression, and is perfectly polite during mealtimes and treat time. This sweet girl is great with children and other dogs, making her a wonderful addition to a variety of family types. She enjoys the company of other calm pups and would thrive in a peaceful home where she can continue building her confidence at her own pace. She’s not demanding, just content to be near you, soaking up affection and offering quiet companionship. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who will blossom with a little patience and a lot of love, this is your girl. Come meet her and see just how beautiful a second chance can be! Want to know more about Sweetie Pie? Fill out an adoption application at istodaymydayrescue.org, and we’ll contact you. Sweetie Pie is being fostered in the Ballwin area; her adoption fee is $325, and she is spayed, microchipped, heartworm-negative, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
