Deaf ears don’t stop Sweetie Pie from a happy life!
Sweetie Pie is a gentle and loving 6-year-old Maltese who weighs almost 10 pounds and came to us as a breeder-surrender. After spending her early years without the comfort of a real home, she’s now discovering what it means to be part of a family—and she loves each and every minute of it!
Sweetie Pie is deaf, but she’s incredibly intuitive and responds well to visual cues and routines. Her disability doesn’t slow her down one bit—she’s a quick learner, especially when it comes to love and trust! Because she is deaf, her adopters will need to take a few extra steps to make sure she is never off-leash outdoors or near a street. At the same time, nothing spooks her! Loud lawn mowers? No problem. Construction equipment? She doesn’t even care.
She is leash-trained, and she’s also very close to being potty trained and is used to wearing a diaper in the house, which she tolerates like a champ. Sweetie is crate-trained, has no food aggression, and is perfectly polite during mealtimes and treat time.
This sweet girl is great with children and other dogs, making her a wonderful addition to a variety of family types. She enjoys the company of other calm pups and would thrive in a peaceful home where she can continue building her confidence at her own pace. She’s not demanding, just content to be near you, soaking up affection and offering quiet companionship.
