Meet Comet! This guy is the handsome little gentleman you have waited your whole life for! Comet is a 9 year old Maltese Shih Tzu mix who came to us after living with his previous owner for most of his life. He is a very sweet boy who is great with people and loves getting attention and some good scratches. He is a very popular guy here at CAAA, and is very friendly to everyone he meets! He also has been great with other dogs here and seems to enjoy having playmates who are a similar size to him. While he may need some refreshers in a new home, here with us he has done well with potty training and usually is very good about using his puppy pads. Comet is an all around easy guy who just asks a couple of things from his new family; along with lots of love and attention, Comet has a thyroid condition, which affects his skin and coat (so don't blame the groomer for his current hairdo) and he takes daily medication. Because of this he is considered a special needs adoption, and is hoping to find someone who is willing to show him a little bit of extra love and care so he can have a happy and healthy life! Redd's former family surrendered him at the age of 14 years to the shelter, but he was lucky enough to come in the door and go right back out just an hour later to begin his search for a new home as a foster with COALDR. Even though he is said to be 14, never has there been a senior with as much spunky energy as Redd! Every morning this little bundle of joy bounds outdoors with a spring in his step and is excited to explore his yard and greet all of his doggy friends. Redd is house-trained but does use pads overnight. He has had a full medical work-up and was found to be in excellent health. He will be having a much needed dental cleaning on July 1st, and then he will be looking forward to hopping off to his new forever home. Redd loves everyone, so a home with older, respectful children would be fine. Because of his limited sight, very young kids would be an obstacle for him. Redd loves meal times and is happy to vocalize his frustration when he is made to wait. Besides that he is a very quiet dog who would do well in an apartment environment. He loves leisurely walks and enjoys being outside and roaming his yard. Redd is great with other dogs and loves all people he meets. If you would love to give this fun-loving little fellow a forever retirement home, please complete an application to adopt him! Redd weighs in at a slight 11 pounds, is a Poodle/Maltese mix, and is fostered in Smithfield, VA.

Rocky is an adorable, silly and sweet adult pup. We are unsure of his exact age, but vet seems to believe he is about 8 years old and he weighs about 12 pounds. He gets along great with other small dogs. He would do best with an active family with no young children. We are unsure about larger dogs or cats. Rocky is 100% potty trained, loves to take walks in the neighborhood and going for rides in the car. Toys and balls are his favorite, but he can get a little obsessed and will guard them if you try to take them from him. He also loves to chew up sticks in the yard...he'll even try to bring them into the house. LOL. He loves to sleep in bed with his people and gets so excited at bedtime and in the morning that he rolls around kicking wildly. He just loves life -he is one happy little boy! Rocky would do best in a home with a fenced in yard and where his family is home more often than not. He gets upset to be left alone and will bark when you leave him. He will also require regular grooming and visits to the groomer, but he absolutely loves being brushed and spins in circles when he sees the brush come out. Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped & on preventative.
