If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: lisab@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET FREDDY: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! We will connect you to his foster! LOCATION: An amazing Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Sue ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for this dog is $475 ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 15 pounds; the perfect size for your lap ESTIMATED AGE: about 12 years young KNOWN WITH DOGS: Freddy doesn’t mind other low key dogs that leave him alone. He really isn’t interested in anything other than his favorite human. KNOWN WITH CATS: Freddy is more interested in cat food than cats. He ignores them and is ok if they come and sniff him a bit. KNOWN WITH KIDS: We are not totally sure about young kids. Freddy enjoys a quiet house, so maybe older kids would be best that understand to go slow and be gentle. KNOWN COMMANDS: Seems to understand “Come here”, but nothing else is really needed with this little guy. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Freddy will settle down in a crate or small area after a while. He is housetrained, but with any old age, accidents can/will happen. He has been left alone for a few hours with no accidents. KNOWN LIKES: Napping near his female human(s). Freddy loves to follow around his female human(s) and nap close by. Even with his weak little back legs, he will put his paws up on the couch to come up. Loves to go for a leisurely walk and sniff around. Freddy does really well in the car too! Freddy also prefers being airlifted up and down stairs because of his legs and restricted vision. KNOWN DISLIKES: Men. We are not sure what happened to poor little Freddy, but somewhere something happened in his past and Freddy decided he does not like men. He gets very scared when he hears men voices. Freddy will only be placed in a home with women. Freddy also doesn’t like stairs. He can go up a few, but with his weak legs and vision, going down is not for him. ABOUT FREDDY: Freddy loves to curl up in a soft bed or on the couch next to his favorite human. This sweet old boy will surprise you though with a bounce in his step at nearly 12 years old. He is quiet and somewhat shy, but will just make your heart melt when he comes and asks for pets. At 12 years old, he has a stiff rear end, but with a small amount of medication and supplements he seems more comfortable. He enjoys leisurely walks. Freddy will settle in after a while and can be left for a few hours without any accidents in the house. If you can’t bring yourself to leave him, he is happy to ride along. He has some vision impairment and doesn’t navigate stairs well. So a house with few steps or being willing to airlift up and down would be best. Freddy is the perfect addition to a quiet female only household willing to just spend time with him and be near. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines and de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

Story
** Current Location: in a private facility in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : A dog with its eyes completely missing, a dog whose body was entirely blackened, a dog with rotting genitals... We struggle to find the words to describe the horrors we witnessed. Like hamsters on a wheel, the dogs cried out for help. There were every kind of dog here, some that were once fashionable and others currently in demand. The once trendy dogs were dying in the corner, while those now popular were crying out for salvation with every part of their body. This place had been illegally breeding and abusing animals for 25 years. From this hell, the rescue team saved Lulu. • Personality: Cuddle lover, people-oriented, loyal Lulu is affectionate and friendly with all people. He enjoys being touched. He is a "cuddle enthusiast" and often smiles when receiving attention. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Lulu has limited experience interacting with other dogs. He doesn't show much interest in them but could benefit from living with a similarly-sized companion. His social skills will develop as he gains more experience. -Adults/Kids: Lulu is affectionate and friendly with all people. • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: Lulu has not yet had proper walks. Once his adoption is confirmed, he will receive walking training, but continued practice with his adopter will be necessary. • Housetrained: Lulu frequently marks indoors and is still learning to use pads. More training is needed, and his adopter will need to continue this process. Once his adoption is confirmed, the team will continue pad training, but the adopter will need to maintain consistency with training. Baths/Brushing: He's calm during grooming, including nail trimming and brushing. • Separation Anxiety: None at the current facility • Barker or Quiet: Occasional demand barking (getting out of a crate, asking for more belly rubs, etc.) • Food Allergies: None • Likes & Dislikes: Likes People, treats, cuddles, and toys! • Health: Lulu has undergone surgery for both patellar luxation and is currently in rehabilitation. An ulcer in his left cornea is being treated with eye drops and is recovering.

Story
Meet Milo!!!  This special boy is a 4 1/2 year old, 11 lbs maltipoo.  He is the complete package.  This sweet boy is good with other dogs both big and small.  He is also good with cats.  Milo is an active little guy that has the best time running and playing with his foster brothers and sisters.  They all have the best time in their fenced in yard.  Milo really enjoys playing but he is also all about the most important thing--YOU!  Milo loves his foster mom.  If she sits down he is right there.  If she goes to the kitchen Milo is right behind her to see if he can help.  At bed time, you got it, trotting down the hall with you.  This great guy would be an excellent companion for a young single person or a great addition to a family with children 6 and older.  (to our knowledge he has not been around toddlers and we don't want to set him up for failure.)  Milo is so small that he could go everywhere with you that doggies are allowed even in the airplane on vacation!  This boy does not want to be left behind.  Milo is ready for a late new year celebration when he meets his forever family.  Hopefully that will be with you.  To be considered for Milo's frever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcaast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Milo is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)January 6, 2025, 2:04 pm

Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
