Story
Meet Milo!!!  This special boy is a 4 1/2 year old, 11 lbs maltipoo.  He is the complete package.  This sweet boy is good with other dogs both big and small.  He is also good with cats.  Milo is an active little guy that has the best time running and playing with his foster brothers and sisters.  They all have the best time in their fenced in yard.  Milo really enjoys playing but he is also all about the most important thing--YOU!  Milo loves his foster mom.  If she sits down he is right there.  If she goes to the kitchen Milo is right behind her to see if he can help.  At bed time, you got it, trotting down the hall with you.  This great guy would be an excellent companion for a young single person or a great addition to a family with children 6 and older.  (to our knowledge he has not been around toddlers and we don't want to set him up for failure.)  Milo is so small that he could go everywhere with you that doggies are allowed even in the airplane on vacation!  This boy does not want to be left behind.  Milo is ready for a late new year celebration when he meets his forever family.  Hopefully that will be with you.  To be considered for Milo's frever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcaast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Milo is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)January 6, 2025, 2:04 pm

Male, 13 lbs, 7 months old. Personality: Timid/fearful, snuggler, eagygoing, eager-to-please, affectionate, gentle and shy. Meet Buye! This young boy is a bundle of love and joy and is looking for his forever home. You can often find him sleeping at your feet, or cuddling up next to you - he loves being close to his people. Buye is an easygoing, loving soul with a playful side. He also loves to eat, showing off his adorable zoomies every night after dinner. He’s already learned “sit”, and is perfecting his house training - he’s a smart guy who picks up new things quickly. On walks, this boy is extremely polite and will ignore other dogs unless given permission to greet them. He’s typically very quiet and rarely ever barks. If you’re looking for your next snuggle buddy, look no further! Apply to meet Buye today! _______________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
** Current Location: in a private facility in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : A dog with its eyes completely missing, a dog whose body was entirely blackened, a dog with rotting genitals... We struggle to find the words to describe the horrors we witnessed. Like hamsters on a wheel, the dogs cried out for help. There were every kind of dog here, some that were once fashionable and others currently in demand. The once trendy dogs were dying in the corner, while those now popular were crying out for salvation with every part of their body. This place had been illegally breeding and abusing animals for 25 years. From this hell, the rescue team saved Momo. • Personality: Loves people, loves friends, affectionate Momo loves people and is very affectionate. Momo loves almost everyone she meets, but if she has bad memories, she might show discomfort if suddenly lifted, especially if her belly is touched. People who often praise her with positive expressions like "pretty," "good girl," and "the best" will be the best fit for Momo. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Momo gets along well with all dog friends. She has never shown rejection or dislike, but she has not yet experienced outdoor walks and meeting new dogs in public. We will need to observe Momo’s reactions when she meets different dogs in the future. She would do well with a calm companion, but whether she has a cohabiting dog or not does not seem to significantly affect her life. -Adults/Kids: She gets along with all the activists and volunteers she meets at the facility. / Not tested with kids • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: Momo has not yet had a proper walk. Once her adoption is confirmed, the rescue team will provide her with as much walking training as possible, but the adopter will need to continue practicing walking with her. • Housetrained: Momo currently only uses indoor pads. She still needs training, but once her adoption is confirmed, the rescue team will continue pad training, though the adopter will need to continue training with her as well. • Separation Anxiety: None at the current facility • Barker or Quiet: Occasional demand barking but cannot hear his voice (due to a surgery in the puppy mill) • Food Allergies: None • Likes & Dislikes: Likes people, touches, treats, and comfortable places! / Not a fan of sudden lifting, especially when her belly is touched. • Health: Momo doesn’t make noise when barking, possibly due to illegal procedures performed at the breeding facility. She had surgery on her right patella and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. The right mammary gland 1-2 has benign lesions, which have been treated with cryotherapy. Her left mammary gland 4 had malignant lesions, so a mammary surgery was performed. Also, given that the dog was rescued from a puppy mill, we believed she was likely pregnant in the past.

He is a "cuddle enthusiast" and often smiles when receiving attention. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Lulu has limited experience interacting with other dogs. He doesn't show much interest in them but could benefit from living with a similarly-sized companion. His social skills will develop as he gains more experience. -Adults/Kids: Lulu is affectionate and friendly with all people. • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: Lulu has not yet had proper walks. Once his adoption is confirmed, he will receive walking training, but continued practice with his adopter will be necessary. • Housetrained: Lulu frequently marks indoors and is still learning to use pads. More training is needed, and his adopter will need to continue this process. Once his adoption is confirmed, the team will continue pad training, but the adopter will need to maintain consistency with training. Baths/Brushing: He's calm during grooming, including nail trimming and brushing. • Separation Anxiety: None at the current facility • Barker or Quiet: Occasional demand barking (getting out of a crate, asking for more belly rubs, etc.) • Food Allergies: None • Likes & Dislikes: Likes People, treats, cuddles, and toys! • Health: Lulu has undergone surgery for both patellar luxation and is currently in rehabilitation. An ulcer in his left cornea is being treated with eye drops and is recovering.
