Story
Foster Location: Boise ID Age: 9 years Breed: Maltese Spayed, Vaccinated, microchipped Adoption fee: $100 DO NOT email us, you must fill out an application if interested: Adoption Application: https://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ KayLee is a delightful 9-year-old Maltese who loves every person she meets. She was surrendered after her owner passed away. It is very apparent that her owner loved and cared for her so much as we have all of the medical records you could ever wish for. She even had a dental just prior to coming to foster! The little dog is completely house trained, standing by the door when she wants to go out or come in. While she will not use the pet door, she has had no accidents in her foster home. KayLee knows her name, although is not reliable on recall. She walks well on leash and likes car rides. She is a beggar for food, so she may have been fed people food as a treat. The only behavior noted on her owner surrender form was that she can become protective of the owner and may snap at people reaching towards her while in her owner's lap. We have not seen any concerning behavior from her. She has happily greeted everyone she has met and does well being picked up. Because of the possibility of snapping, it is best that KayLee not go to a home with small children. KayLee sleeps on the foster’s bed at night when lifted up, but will sleep on a rug on the floor if desired. She isn’t much for getting on furniture if that is of concern to her prospective adopter. She is good with other dogs, but has not been cat tested. Now for the fine print: KayLee is suspected to have heart disease and suffers from a grade 4/6 heart murmur. She also has been diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. Possibly due to the heart problem, she seems to have a collapsing trachea and should use a harness when on leash. These conditions are treatable with medication. However, they are expensive to manage, requiring regular monitoring tests and costly medications. She has not seen the veterinary cardiologist for an echogram yet, and probably should. These health issues do not slow her down. She is a happy-go-lucky girl!

Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 6 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes. Follow our rescue journey through the links below! https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue *Due to the rising cost of fuel and transportation expenses, there will be an additional $74 surcharge for transport.
