Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption fee: $125.00   Crouton is 13 years old and weighs 17.5 pounds, he is not overweight, he is just a big boy!  We are not sure what breed he is, his DNA test say he is 51% Maltese, but his foster Mom wonders about those results!  He is house trained, he may have an accident occasionally, but if taken outside regularly, he will be fine!   He is not one to 'snuggle', but he does want to be close to his human, he will follow his people around the home, and he loves to sleep in the bed with his family.  He even 'begs' to be helped into the bed!   Crouton does have a few things going on, he has some cysts on his back, but because of his age and how many there are, we are not going to have them removed.  His veterinarian fees certain they are benign.  And it is obvious that he has had chronic ear infections in the past that were not treated, and because of the scaring now in his ears, he will always need maintenance for them.  Meaning to make sure they are cleaned on a regularly basis.  And he also has had yeast skin infections, so he may need the occasional medicated bath.  He also has either some arthritis or a weakness in his hips, but he doesn't seem to be to bothered by it, he uses doggies steps to get on the couch, which works great.  He is also partially deaf, he can hear very loud sounds, but for the normal level talking he is not able to hear.  He responds to hand signals very well, and he can also see really good.   Crouton is waiting for his forever home in Gainesville, FL, please consider him as a possible new member of your family!   Adoption fee: $125.00 Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Simon & Mia   This little bonded Maltese pair are in need of Sponsor Angels. They can not be separated. SCMR will care for them as long as they need us.    Mia is 10 years old and weighs only 5.6 pounds. She has a 6/6 heart murmur  and mitral valve disease with left ventricular enlargement which makes anesthesia very dangerous, if not impractical, for any procedures she needs such as a dental for her advanced dental disease. She also has high blood pressure.   Simon is 7 years old and 10.6 pounds. He has hip dysplasia and severe luxating patellas. Also he has advanced dental disease and a mast cell tumor on his side. He will be closely monitored for signs of pain and decreased mobility.   Please help us make life as easy and painless as possible for these two by making a tax deductible donation as a Sponsor Angel. SCMR will send you a tax acknowledgement for your donation. All donors will be listed as Sponsor Angels on Simon & Mia's posting on our web site. Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. Grumpy isn't grumpy at all...he's a old-timer sweetheart! We don't have an age but imagine it could be 12-14 years old. He weighs 12.5 pounds and is a diabetic.   Grumpy came to SCMR from a Knoxville shelter where he was surrendered by his owner probably because of his diabetes. But he is so easy when getting his insulin shots...doesn't react at all.   He loves everybody and other animals. Grumpy is being fostered in Chattanooga, TN. If you can't care for a diabetic but want to help Grumpy, please consider sponsoring him and becoming one of his angels to help SCMR cover the cost of his insulin and meds. Grumpy is grateful for any help! Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR. Cheerio Cheerio (previously named Cymba) is a 6 yr F Maltese that was rescued from a not so good breeder situation in Virginia. She had a lot of people rooting for her and dedicated to getting her to Chattanooga, TN so she could start living the life she deserves. She even got to fly in an airplane!   She is currently fostered by Dr. Amy Holford in Chattanooga due to her range of health conditions and need for daily medications. She will continue to be fostered until she is deemed healthy and ready for adoption.   It’s going to be a long road….   Next up for Cheerio is an interventional surgery where our local cardiologist will attempt to place a coil into her patent ductus arteriosis (PDA) which should have closed at birth. Access will be through a large vein in her back leg and will need to be performed under anesthesia. She will have a one night hospital stay for her procedure. Since she has been living with this condition since she was born her heart has become enlarged and she requires two heart medications that will likely need to be continued long term. That will be based on follow up echocardiograms and recommendations from the cardiologist. This is the same heart condition that sweet baby Huckleberry had and I do believe they may be related!   In addition, Cheerio needs to have a spay, her large reducible umbilical hernia repaired and she is in desperate need of a dental with extractions.   She also has asymptomatic luxating patellas that will need to be watched long term.   Despite her medical hardships Cheerio is such a sweet, spunky, sassy and fun little girl. She loves most other dogs (only issue was my female doodle when Cheerio was in heat) especially her foster brothers (or should we say boyfriends!!) that are a Maltese, toy poodle and bichon frise! She is active and loves to get zoomies and chew on bones. She’s not huge on toys. She loves going to the dog park and anywhere you are going in the car. She can figure out how to get out of the open car windows though so if she needs to be left for a short time in the car she would be best off in a crate/kennel.   She likes wearing clothes!   She is pee pad trained and does well wearing a diaper. She will occasionally have an accident especially if you have accessible floor vent grates (I think this has to do with previously being on metal crating/grate material).   She crates up well but does bark when left alone.   She is up to date on her vaccinations.   At this time we need all the help we can get financially to provide her with her heart medications, her interventional PDA repair procedure, cardiac follow ups, as well as her spay, hernia repair, and dental.   Please click on the following link to donate to Cheerio’s ongoing care. Story
EuGe is a 9 year old Maltese Terrier cross. He came from a home where they couldn’t care for the dogs any longer. He gets along great with other dogs. He isn’t sure about cats and sometimes barks at mine. He’s a great companion dog, follows me and sits beside my chair. He is passive but playful when stimulated. He’s the perfect little laid back gentleman for a quieter home. He’s leash trained and will use pads. His Vetting is complete: neutered, all vaccinations, flea tick heartworm prevention, dewormed. He has medium length hair but has a shorter summer clip right now. Email arkofcleveland@aol.com or call 423-472-2744.
