Story
Hi, I’m Sonia . . . I’m a 6-year-old Maltese girl weighing 8 lbs. of pure love. I’m adventurous, athletic, affectionate, and confident. I would describe myself as a social butterfly.
General Behavior: Sonia is somewhat active and a curious girl who enjoys exploring her surroundings. She is a simple girl who takes time to smell the flowers. She can also be quiet, gentle and protective.
Likes & Dislikes: Sonia has many “favorites”, including romping in the yard, chasing chameleons and finding the perfect sunny spot to catch some rays. While some dogs love toys, Sonia could take them or leave them, as she would rather spend her time sitting with her human.
Training: Sonia does well with house training when let out on a frequent and consistent schedule. She walks well on a leash and does great (and loves) riding in the car. Sonia is a very smart girl who learns quickly. That trait, in addition to her food motivation (she loves to eat), should lend itself nicely to additional training.
Medical: Sonia will just require her monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention, just like any other dog.
Other Animals: Sonia has experience with small dogs only, so a home with a small furry friend would be appropriate for her. She has not been tested with cats, so a home with cats would probably not be a good fit.
Children: Sonia would likely enjoy having a kid or two to play with in her forever home. Due to her small size, children over the age of 8 would be a better fit.
Home: Snuggly Sonia isn’t picky about her future type of home and would do well in a home, apartment/townhouse. She can be left alone for several hours without issues and has free rein in her foster home. She enjoys sleeping in the human bed at night but will also sleep in her dog bed in her own special space. Many times, throughout her day and evening, she enjoys her quiet time in her own space. She also greatly enjoys exploring her surroundings.
Grooming: With her breed, Sonia will need periodic grooming. The cost of grooming should be something a potential adopter takes into consideration.
Overall: Are you looking for a great companion who is a sweet, energetic “wiggle-butt” who is sure to melt your heart? If so, Sonia could be the one for you.
Could you be the one for Sonia? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. Sonia is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $350.
