thoroughly read descriptionMeet Ducky, an adorable 9-pound,3-year-old, Maltese with a personality as lively as his name suggests! Ducky joined the Misfits Dog Rescue in December 2023 after being surrendered to a shelter due to some behavioral challenges. Since then, we’ve been working hard with him, and while he’s made significant progress, he still has a bit of a spicy streak. Ducky is a little dynamo who absolutely loves playing fetch and would excel in agility training. He’s clever and eager to learn, although he does have a bit of trouble focusing at times. He’s also made great strides with his barking—he’s much quieter now and no longer as frantic as he used to be. One of Ducky’s key characteristics is his dominant nature. While he’s improved and gets along well with most dogs, he can occasionally be a bit of a bully. He’ll do best with an experienced owner who can provide consistent training and set clear boundaries. Potty training is still a work in progress for Ducky, partly because the shelter environment isn’t ideal for this type of training. However, he wears belly bands comfortably, which helps manage any accidents. Ducky would thrive in a home where he’s the only pet and where someone is around frequently to work with him. Despite his quirks, Ducky is incredibly cute, spunky, and full of personality. He’s friendly but can be protective due to his dominant nature, so it’s important that he knows you’re the boss. Ducky is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and chipped. If you think Ducky might be the perfect match for you, please visit www.misfitsdogrescue.org to learn more about adopting him.December 12, 2024, 6:53 pm

If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Baron, and I am beautiful, Maltese boy who was born 4/19/22, and I weigh 12 pounds. I need a home with another sibling my size to teach me the ropes about this big new world. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous, young Maltese that is past the puppy stage, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. My name is Gizmo, and I am a Maltese+ boy who was is about 5 years old, and I weigh 9 pounds.I had a very rough start in life. My back leg had a birth defect that caused me to be in constant pain. Finally, I was dumped at a shelter, and upon the Dogtor determining that, for me to be comfortable, myback leg had to be amputated. The shelter didn’t have the resources so they contacted BRAS to see if wecould help this boy. Of, course we took him. MY back leg was amputated and is healing well and I getaround just fine on 3 legs.I need a quiet home where I will be the center of my new parents’ world. Because I was in so much painfor so long, I became defensive about being touched so I am learning now that it doesn’t hurt anymorebut I would do best as an only child in an all adult home.If you have been waiting for a nice companion, please ask for me on your application tohttp://www.breederadoptions.org.Love, Gizmo 091224-01November 5, 2024, 9:56 pm

My name is Haven, and I am a little Maltese girl who was born 5/15/19, and I weigh 7 pounds. I am very afraid of this big new world so would benefit from a socialized sibling to play with. Highlights:-Needs confident, canine sibling-Needs fenced-in yardMeet Macy, a 10-pound Maltese Chihuahua Poodle mix whose journey from shyness to spunk is nothing short of inspiring. When she first arrived, Macy was very shy and nervous, but she is growing more confident every day as she learns that her new environment is safe and kind.Macy will need some time to warm up to people, but with patience and love, she will surely come around. She would greatly benefit from having a more confident dog in her new adoptive home to show her the ropes and help her build her own confidence. As she does not walk on a leash yet, a fenced yard is essential to keep her safe. This spunky little girl isn`t afraid to tell you what she wants and has the cutest little elf ears that seem independent from her body, turning around like satellite dishes to take in every ounce of her environment. Macy is one of the cutest dogs you`ll ever see, and her charming personality is sure to win you over. Are you ready to offer Macy the loving and patient home she needs? This adorable pup is eager to find her forever family and share her unique blend of sweetness and spunk.- - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Meet Blaze: A 10-Pound Bundle of Love and Intelligence!Blaze, our sweet Maltese, is thriving in his foster home. This 10-pound cutie has quickly won over everyone he meets—dogs and humans alike. His foster family’s dogs, also NMDR rescues, welcomed him with open paws, and Blaze fit right in.Though initially cautious, Blaze has shown how intelligent he is, quickly learning commands like “wait,” “touch,” and “pickup.” He was a little fearful at first, but with patience, he’s come to trust and embrace gentle handling. Blaze does wonderfully with calm, small dogs and would love to have another dog friend in his new home to help him continue to grow in confidence. He even enjoyed meeting extended family over Thanksgiving, showing his sweet and adaptable nature.Blaze loves calm, kind humans—he’s particularly attached to his foster dad, who is very gentle and patient. This lovable boy is ready for a forever family that will appreciate his gentle spirit, give him all the love he deserves, and provide a calm doggy companion to guide him along the way.Are you the calm, loving home Blaze has been waiting for?- - - - -Before being rescued, many of our dogs have had limited socialization, so they may need a bit of time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog`s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
