Story
Max the Maltese! This adorable, quirky, 6-7 lbs boy is Max. He’s approximately 2 years old. Max is king of the castle and despite his small stature, he has a big personality. He joined MHCR from a high intake shelter in Houston. Max is dog friendly but doesn’t like to share his humans so couch snuggles will need to be managed at first. Max is being fostered in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/max/. You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Meet Cream Delight (aka: Emmy Lou)! She is guessed to be a 7 yr old Maltese/Yorkie mix, who is only around 6.5 bs. She was recently rescued from a hoarder/backyard breeder in OK, along with a few other lucky pups! She is a gentle soul with a mellow disposition. Her sweet nature shines through her shyness, making her a delightful companion. This cute, furry little girl is a bit shy at first, but is learning how good it is to be loved on by humans. She came from a place with lots and lots of dogs so is good with dogs. She needs a loving home to show her how good life can be as a beloved family member. If you have a warm lap and love to give, she is the right dog for you! She will need her safe place kennel and a small play yard around the kennel to begin with while you spend time in her safe area helping her to get used to you and her new surroundings. She will also need a small fenced yard or being slowing walked in the yard on a leash until she gains confidence with you and her new life. Emmy Lou is waiting patiently to find her FurEver Family!! Precious gentle-soul is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes and rehabilitates timid, shy, scared or unsocialized dogs. She is absolutely adorable and her eyes will melt your heart! Her foster mom thinks she would do better in a quiet home with adults or older children to work with her. Another confident dog could be helpful as she loves other dogs, but not necessary if the adopter can help her continue on her confidence journey. Her foster mom has an amazing rehabilitation protocol to help these scared dogs and is working with her on potty training, socializing with dogs and humans, kennel training, doggie door training and if time permits, leash and car training. She also has an amazing group of volunteers that meet twice a week to help socialize all the scared foster dogs in her care. There are lots of other dogs at her foster mom's house so we know she is dog friendly. Her foster doesn't have any cats but thinks she would be fine with them if introduced slowly and properly. She will need an adopter, who will give her love and patience. Please consider this adorable dog as a part of your family. She deserves all the kindness and will give you a lifetime of affection. The shy dogs become the most loyal dogs, who adore their humans. Her foster mom is located in Fort Collins Colorado and wants to find a patient adopter, who is willing to do a minimum of one paid training session with her. This training session is NOT basic obedience, but instead, is designed for rescue dogs and teaches the adopter how to work to build the dogs confidence and overcome any trauma the dog may have experienced. This training will help the family and this sweet dog adjust to their new life together much quicker than trying to do it on your own. She provides a discount on training to her adopters. The dogs that she fosters truly need an adopter to be their hero and offer them lots of time, patience, love and a safe environment that they can slow grow in confidence.

Story
Honestly, Mickey is Albino which resulted in him being deaf and blind, but you wouldn’t know it, that is until you see him wander into something. He is the sweetest little pup. He loves to be on your lap or in bed with you. He can even jump in and out of the bed. He is surprisingly agile. Mickey is wonderfully “clingy” because he needs to smell you to know where you are. But hey, who doesn’t want a bathroom buddy? This also means he walks really well on a leash. Mickey is incredibly soft and a very portable size. He was also extremely patient during grooming (despite extreme and painful matting) and an extremely gentle soul. He navigates the world incredibly well by smell and vibration. He can tell where his foster mom and foster-dog siblings are. If can’t find you, he’ll sniff you out quickly. He loves toys and spending some time outside. He also knows how to get in and out of the dog door (which he figured out in no time at all). Mickey likes going places and meeting new people, especially in the car. He is also very fond of other dogs. Mickey is also still naughty like a puppy! He enjoys ripping up paper and could provide the perfect “dog ate my homework” excuse. He also has an uncanny ability to wait until you're almost asleep to bring you his stuffed animals to tug on. Mickey is being fostered in Loveland.

Story
Bugaloo  may be small in size but he’s BIG in love! At a trim 10 pounds, this two-year-old sweetie loves cuddling and snuggling with his foster mom, resting his head on her and having his belly rubbed as much as he loves amusing her by sometimes sticking out his tongue and dancing about in delight. Definitely a devoted “ladies’ man,” he’s initially wary of men although he eventually warms up to them. More of a comfy, cozy couch companion than an eagerly energetic pup,  Bugaloo  does enjoy playing with his doggy foster friends both large and small, likes toys, especially rope toys, and looking out the window on car rides. Since he presently prefers taking shorter walks, he’s just starting to work on his leash skills and on being more at ease around the new dogs he meets. Motivated by food and love, he currently knows “come” and “no,” eats and sleeps in his crate and is almost fully house-trained. With much still to learn and much love to share,  Bugaloo  is best suited to a loving home, perhaps with a friendly dog already there, and patient adopters who will continue his socialization, complete his training, including his commands, and keep him in cuddles fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $600. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
