Story
Bugaloo  may be small in size but he’s BIG in love! At a trim 10 pounds, this two-year-old sweetie loves cuddling and snuggling with his foster mom, resting his head on her and having his belly rubbed as much as he loves amusing her by sometimes sticking out his tongue and dancing about in delight. Definitely a devoted “ladies’ man,” he’s initially wary of men although he eventually warms up to them. More of a comfy, cozy couch companion than an eagerly energetic pup,  Bugaloo  does enjoy playing with his doggy foster friends both large and small, likes toys, especially rope toys, and looking out the window on car rides. Since he presently prefers taking shorter walks, he’s just starting to work on his leash skills and on being more at ease around the new dogs he meets. Motivated by food and love, he currently knows “come” and “no,” eats and sleeps in his crate and is almost fully house-trained. With much still to learn and much love to share,  Bugaloo  is best suited to a loving home, perhaps with a friendly dog already there, and patient adopters who will continue his socialization, complete his training, including his commands, and keep him in cuddles fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $600. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Hi, I’m Bella! My dad recently passed away unexpectedly and my mom just moved into memory care with dementia and can’t take care of me. My human brother’s family has two large German Shepherds that don’t mind me but I’m not a huge fan. I prefer to be the queen of the castle as I have been a one woman show and spoiled rotten my whole life. 😇 I’m potty trained and usually pretty polite but have been acting out a little bit with all of the changes these last couple of weeks. I would love to go to a home where I am the only one getting your attention. I would be the perfect companion for a senior. I like a nice quiet life, car rides, and I really like to bark at the mailman! I am tiny but I will steal your heart! I’m purebred Maltese (I did have a lot of matting so had to be shaved all the way down but will require regular grooming when it comes back.) I’m up to date on all shots, flea/tick, and heartworm meds, have had excellent care and just want to go to a loving home.

Story
Max the Maltese! This adorable, quirky, 6-7 lbs boy is Max. He’s approximately 2 years old. Max is king of the castle and despite his small stature, he has a big personality. He joined MHCR from a high intake shelter in Houston. Max is dog friendly but doesn’t like to share his humans so couch snuggles will need to be managed at first. Max is being fostered in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/max/. Story
Do you like dogs but you’ve always considered yourself more of a cat person? Oh do we have a match for you! Popcorn is the perfect cat-like dog. He hates going out in the cold, loves to jump around on furniture, and can sometimes even be found on the counter top if you happen to leave something stacked he can climb on! At night, when you’re winding down, Popcorn can be found curled up on the back of the couch at your shoulders. Popcorn LOVES stuffed animals, especially ones that are bigger than him. He carries them around, drops them off furniture, puts them in things, plays fetch and tug with them. He’s very skilled at self-entertaining! Popcorn is working on house training and prefers to use potty pads. He is dog and cat friendly. He can sleep in a kennel but prefers to be under your covers. Popcorn is a very finicky eater. He entered MHCR severely underweight. He’s been hard at work to pack some lbs on and his new family should be prepared to cater to his particular palette. Popcorn is being fostered in Longmont, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/popcorn/.
