Story
Meet Hope! When Hope's mom and dad separated, neither of them were able to take care of her, leaving Hope in need of a new loving home. Hope is a special needs dog, being both blind and hearing impaired. When she first came to us, adjusting to a new places and people at this stage of her life was clearly overwhelming. Our hearts ached for this sweet girl. Fortunately, Hope was chosen to go on a two-week Frosted Fling with an experienced foster family. They have extended their time with her because she is doing so much better in a home environment. Her Fling Family reports: "Sweet Hope may not be able to see, but she finds the most magical bed in the house, and we are absolutely spellbound by this precious little creature. Whenever we bring home a new bed she finds it right away and tries it out like Goldilocks! * We find her very easy to love and care for. * She never makes a peep, has a good appetite, and co-exists peacefully with our dogs and cat. * She loves sniffing around outside for about 15 minutes at a time. * When we go to pick her up, she does the cutest leap towards our hands. * She spends about 90% of the time sleeping. * She doesn't enjoy her eye meds. but we've developed a low stress method. * She's not one to seek out attention, but she does enjoy being cuddled in our arms. * She goes potty as soon as we carry her outside. * She will use potty pads if available. * She does often urinate in her sleep. For us that's no biggie. It's just a little extra laundry and she's good about being washed off. Hope is considered hospice due to several health conditions and just needs someone to love her because she deserves it." Hope is a gentle soul who needs a patient and understanding person who can meet her needs with compassion and care. Might that be you? To meet Hope, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet McComb! McComb entered Pasadena Humane Society as a stray. When he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on November 30th to become a Frosted Face. McComb is estimated to be 8 years old, and he weighs 12.5 lbs. McComb is a sweet, lovable dog with some special needs that require a little extra patience and care. Thankfully, he has been living in a loving foster home since mid-December, and we've learned a lot about him and what he needs to thrive. McComb is a mellow guy who loves snacks, butt scratches, and sniffing around in the yard. Though he has some challenges—he’s blind, deaf, and likely has early-stage cognitive dysfunction (CCD)—he still enjoys life! His Fling Mom shares: "McComb walks to the beat of his own drum. He does what he wants- sometimes that is napping all day, sometimes that is pacing for a while. He doesn't pay attention to toys or me, but he does love snuffle mats! He also likes to go out in the yard and sniff around, his nose seems to work really well!! He doesn't walk very well on leash, so I didn't force him on walks and he didn't settle well in strollers, so I usually just rotate his sniffs in the front or back yard. McComb is fine with people if the people let him know they are there. I usually put my hand on his neck or back slowly and let him recognize I'm there and then start to pet him, he is usually receptive to pets that way. He can be a bit reactive if you go directly for his head. McComb does seem to recognize when I get home some days though and whines when he hears my dogs bark. McComb is aware when new dogs enter the home and will interact with polite sniffs. Otherwise, he pretty much ignores the other dogs in the home. He doesn't snuggle, but also isn't food aggressive or a resource guarder. McComb isn't a dog that is for everyone. In addition to being blind and deaf, he doesn't like his eye drops, and isn't potty trained- but he lovessss snacks and butt scratches. McComb would be a labor of love without much in return, but speaking from my experience, it'll be worth every dirty diaper and almost bite!" This special boy deserves to enjoy his golden years with a loving family who will cherish him for who he is. Might that be you? McComb is currently on a second Fling while he waits for his forever home. To meet McComb, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org

Story
Meet Poppy Ambrose! After Poppy Ambrose was surrendered to Chesterfield Square Shelter (LA) by her owner, we scooped her up on December 7th to become a Frosted Face. She is 9 years old and weighs 12.5 lbs. Poppy went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn more about her in a home environment. She is such a sweetheart that her Fling has been extended! Her Fling Mom reports: "Poppy is an absolute lover. She wants to cuddle all day long and will lay with me for hours on end. She is extremely sweet, loving, and does great with other people. If not cuddling, Poppy is either taking a long nap or exploring the smells in the yard. Poppy loves going out and has so much fun when I take her to the swap meet or to go smell and run through the sand at the beach. Poppy does great with other people! If anyone enters the home that she doesn’t know, she will run up to them and start trying to give them love. Poppy has met other small dogs and do well with them. She is very sweet and great with other dogs. Poppy loves to explore outside! She will spend all day smelling different smells and walking through the neighborhood and the yard. She loves being outside and discovering new smells and having fun!" To meet practically perfect Poppy, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet Stanley! Stanley came to us from Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA. We scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on December 11th. Stanley is estimated to be 10 years old, weighs 14.5 lbs., and is so sweet. He is an adorable cuddle bug who loves people and other dogs! A volunteer took Stanley on a fun 3-day Frosted Field Trip to Joshua Tree, and he earned a rave review for being a great travel buddy and all-around good boy! Afterwards, our volunteer shared: "It was just me, Stanley, and my 8-year-old Rottie/ Shepherd mix Tahoe. Stanley did so well on the drive there and back. If he wasn't looking out the window, he was napping. There were no issues between Stanley and my dog. They didn't play together. but they did respect each other's boundaries. Stanley is easy going and low maintenance: He doesn't resource guard his human, food or toys. He doesn't mind being picked up and doesn't fuss when you put on his sweater, harness, or leash. Stanley was not overly affectionate, but he did like to be close by. If I wasn't in his line of vision, he would walk around the Airbnb looking for me (no barking or whining, just walking around checking from room to room until he found me). Stanley slept in his bed on the floor at the foot of my bed, but I woke up one night to him trying to jump up (if the furniture is low enough, he has no trouble jumping up), so I lifted him up onto the bed with me. He sniffed around looking for a spot and eventually curled up at my feet. I was taking a shower after breakfast one morning and when I got out, there was Stanley lying on the bathroom rug waiting for me! Stanley is mostly mellow and quiet but once a day, he gets a spurt of energy and becomes playful. Our Airbnb had lots of doggie toys for Stanley to choose from, which he was very excited about. He sorted through the pile of toys while I unloaded our things upon arrival. He preferred the chewy, squeaky toys, and he kind of knows how to play fetch (i.e. sometimes he'd bring the ball back and sometimes I needed to retrieve it - lol!) Stanley likes to take leisurely strolls and get his sniffs in and was content to visit the dog park down the street once per day. He would exchange sniffs if other dogs approached him but otherwise kept to himself and explored on his own. One of the littles he encountered kept trying to initiate play and Stanley was so calm and patient every time this other dog tried to get him to reciprocate. After an eventful outing like this, Stanley was content to relax at the Airbnb the rest of the day which had a gated, small backyard from him to roam around. If he wasn't napping inside, he was outside in the backyard in a sunny spot happily soaking up rays and snoozing. Whether we were at the dog park, a coffee shop or restaurant, we'd always get a few people that would stop and compliment how cute and sweet Stanley was. He definitely made fans wherever we went and was even featured on the Instagram page of one of the restaurant's we dined at. Lastly, Stanley is potty trained! He will definitely let you know when he needs to go out: he'll pace and/or whine." All Stanley needs now is a forever family. Might that be you? Drop by between 10 AM and 3 PM any day of the week to meet sweet Stanley and our other on-site Frosted Faces!

Story
Meet Gruber! 8-year-old Gruber was brought to Chula Vista Shelter as a stray, and after a microchip was found, his owner was contacted. Sadly, they didn't come for Gruber, but given the neglected condition he was in, it may have been for the best. While at the shelter, Gruber had dental surgery, was neutered, and his bulging, painful left eye was removed. Thankfully, since becoming a Frosted Face, he has been receiving lots of wonderful TLC in comfort of a foster home, and he is doing great! Gruber had his remaining non-visual eye removed at the beginning of February after drops hadn't reduced the pressure caused by glaucoma. We didn't want Gruber to be in pain, and since he couldn't see with the eye, he is getting around just as well without it. Bonus: he is no longer in pain! Gruber's foster mom reports: "Gruber is a very sweet, friendly, and happy-go-lucky guy. While he cannot see, he mapped out my house and backyard in about 2 days. His hearing is good and he can also sense when people are near, and that's his favorite thing in the world. He always wags his tail when he is near someone. Gruber is very cuddly and ideal for someone who wants a lap dog. He is easy to take places and always willing to go on an adventure. Gruber enjoys walking around the yard for 30-60 minutes/day. We take a neighborhood walk a couple days per week, and he loves walking on a leash and sniffing around. He is easy to carry or put in a stroller. Gruber eats easily in the kitchen with a couple of my dogs. He loves food and will eat anything. I put his food in a slow feeder or puzzle to give him more enrichment. He's hilarious and sometimes sounds like he's growling or in a fight, but it's just him arguing with the puzzle! Gruber wore a belly band for a few days, but when they were consistently dry, I stopped using them. He holds it overnight and for a long time during the day. I take my dogs out pretty regularly, but I think he might be able to hold it quite a bit longer. Gruber gets along great with my four dogs. If a dog barks at him, he might bark back and not always. He's been friendly and happy to meet anyone, animals or people. Just one week post-op for his second eye enucleation. and he's just about as good as new. I took him for a walk without his cone today. Gruber can be asleep in a different room, and no matter how quietly I pick up a leash, he comes galloping to me wagging his tail saying, "Yes, I'm going on the walk, too!" If you have a spot in your heart for this very special boy, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.
