Story
Meet Hope! When Hope's mom and dad separated, neither of them were able to take care of her, leaving Hope in need of a new loving home. Hope is a special needs dog, being both blind and hearing impaired. She is trying to be brave, but adjusting to new places and people at this stage of her life is a bit overwhelming. Our hearts ache for this sweet girl, and we are searching for someone who will offer her the gentle care and love she deserves. Despite the upheaval in Hope's life, she is very sweet and melts in your lap. She enjoys spending time outdoors, wandering around in the yard or riding in a stroller, sniffing the fresh air, and listening to the birds chirping. Hope also enjoys car rides, mealtime, naps, and feeling the sunshine on her face. She does well with both cats and other dogs. Soon after Hope arrived, she went on a two-week Frosted Fling. After spending this time in a calm home, Hope became more relaxed and seemed to grow stronger, walking better and adjusting well to her environment. Her Fling Mom noticed that clapping her hands to let Hope know where she was helped Hope feel more comfortable and less startled. As Hope learned her way around her new surroundings, her spirits lifted. Hope is currently on a second Fling and is doing so well! Her Fling Family reports: "Hope has been with us on a fling for a week already, and we absolutely love every moment of her company. We also find her easy to care for. Her routine is pretty simple - sleep, out to potty and sniff, walk around for a few minutes, eat, find a comfy bed to sleep, repeat. Hope never fusses or makes any noise at all, is easy to pick up and carry, and enjoys ear rubs. Her vision and hearing impairments don't deter her from making her way around our house and yard. She gets along perfectly with our dogs (two of them are blind like her). They all sniff each other and wander around together. Hope enjoys taking in the smells at the harbor or short walks in a stroller to get some fresh air. Hope is such a sweet and quiet little granny." Hope is a gentle soul who needs a patient and understanding person who can meet her needs with compassion and care. Might that be you? To meet Hope, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet McComb! McComb entered Pasadena Humane Society as a stray. When he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on November 30th to become a Frosted Face. McComb is estimated to be 8 years old, and he weighs 12.5 lbs. McComb is a special, lovable dog with some special needs that require a little extra patience and care. Thankfully, he has been living in a loving foster home since mid-December, and we've learned a lot about him and what he needs to thrive. McComb is a mellow guy who loves snacks, butt scratches, and sniffing around in the yard. Though he has some challenges—he’s blind, deaf, and likely has early-stage cognitive dysfunction (CCD)—he still enjoys life! His Fling Mom shares: "McComb walks to the beat of his own drum. He does what he wants- sometimes that is napping all day, sometimes that is pacing for a while. He doesn't pay attention to toys or me, but he does love snuffle mats! He also likes to go out in the yard and sniff around, his nose seems to work really well!! He doesn't walk very well on leash, so I didn't force him on walks and he didn't settle well in strollers, so I usually just rotate his sniffs in the front or back yard. McComb is fine with people if the people let him know they are there. I usually put my hand on his neck or back slowly and let him recognize I'm there and then start to pet him, he is usually receptive to pets that way. He can be a bit reactive if you go directly for his head. McComb does seem to recognize when I get home some days though and whines when he hears my dogs bark. McComb is aware when new dogs enter the home and will interact with polite sniffs. Otherwise, he pretty much ignores the other dogs in the home. He doesn't snuggle, but also isn't food aggressive or a resource guarder. McComb isn't a dog that is for everyone. In addition to being blind and deaf, he doesn't like his eye drops, and isn't potty trained- but he lovessss snacks and butt scratches. McComb would be a labor of love without much in return, but speaking from my experience, it'll be worth every dirty diaper and almost bite!" This special boy deserves to enjoy his golden years with a loving family who will cherish him for who he is. Might that be you? Please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to mee McComb!

Story
Meet Poppy Ambrose! After Poppy Ambrose was surrendered to Chesterfield Square Shelter (LA) by her owner, we scooped her up on December 7th to become a Frosted Face. She is 9 years old and weighs 12.5 lbs. Poppy went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn more about her in a home environment. She is such a sweetheart that her Fling has been extended! Her Fling Mom reports: "Poppy is an absolute lover. She wants to cuddle all day long and will lay with me for hours on end. She is extremely sweet, loving, and does great with other people. If not cuddling, Poppy is either taking a long nap or exploring the smells in the yard. Poppy loves going out and has so much fun when I take her to the swap meet or to go smell and run through the sand at the beach. Poppy does great with other people! If anyone enters the home that she doesn’t know, she will run up to them and start trying to give them love. Poppy has met other small dogs and do well with them. She is very sweet and great with other dogs. Poppy loves to explore outside! She will spend all day smelling different smells and walking through the neighborhood and the yard. She loves being outside and discovering new smells and having fun!" To meet practically perfect Poppy, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet Stanley! Stanley came to us from Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA. We scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on December 11th. Stanley is estimated to be 10 years old, weighs 14.5 lbs., and is so sweet. He is an adorable cuddle bug who loves people and other dogs! Stanley went on 3-day Frosted Field Trip to spend Christmas in a home and earned a rave review for being a wonderful houseguest and companion. His host for the holidays shared the following: "Stanley is so darn cute! He tilts his head when you talk to him, like he’s really enjoying the conversation. * He is house-trained. * He loves going for a short stroll. * He sleeps through the night and naps often during the day. * Stanley loves a cuddle and to get his belly rubbed. * When I put him on my bed, he settled right in next to me. He's also happy to sleep in his dog bed. I can’t think of anything not wonderful about Stanley! He is so special and just needs a chance to bloom in a new home." Stanley is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, and we are so happy he is starting off the new year in a home. As you can see in the videos, Stanley loves playing with toys! All he needs now is a forever family. Might that be you? Please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to schedule an appointment to meet sweet Stanley!

Story
Meet Gruber! 8-year-old Gruber was brought to Chula Vista Shelter as a stray, and after a microchip was found, his owner was contacted. Sadly, they didn't come for Gruber, but given the neglected condition he was in, it may have been for the best. While at the shelter, Gruber had dental surgery, was neutered, and his bulging, painful left eye was removed. Thankfully, since becoming a Frosted Face, he has been receiving lots of wonderful TLC in comfort of a foster home, and he is doing great! Gruber is going to have his remaining non-visual eye removed in February because drops haven't improved the glaucoma pressure in it, and we don't want him to be in pain. With how happy and resilient Gruber has proven to be, we know he will do just fine without it! Gruber's foster mom shares: "Gruber is a very sweet, friendly, and happy-go-lucky guy. While he cannot see, he mapped out my house and backyard in about 2 days. His hearing is good and he can also sense when people are near, and that's his favorite thing in the world. He always wags his tail when he is near someone. Gruber is very cuddly and ideal for someone who wants a lap dog. He is easy to take places and always willing to go on an adventure. Gruber enjoys walking around the yard for 30-60 minutes/day. We take a neighborhood walk a couple days per week, and he loves walking on a leash and sniffing around. He is easy to carry or put in a stroller. Gruber eats easily in the kitchen with a couple of my dogs. He loves food and will eat anything. I put his food in a slow feeder or puzzle to give him more enrichment. He's hilarious and sometimes sounds like he's growling or in a fight, but it's just him arguing with the puzzle! Gruber wore a belly band for a few days, but when they were consistently dry, I stopped using them. He holds it overnight and for a long time during the day. I take my dogs out pretty regularly, but I think he might be able to hold it quite a bit longer. Gruber gets along great with my four dogs. If a dog barks at him, he might bark back and not always. He's been friendly and happy to meet anyone, animals or people." If you have a spot in your heart for this very special boy, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet Nano! Nano came to us from the San Diego Humane Society on January 6th. He is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 14 lbs. Nano went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn more about him in a home setting, while he got all the love & cuddles he deserves! His Fling Family had only wonderful things to report about this sweet boy: "Nano is truly coming out of his shell! As a blind pup, he thrives on consistency and routine, and it’s been amazing to see him gain confidence. We’ve been taking him on the same walking route every day, and now that he knows the path so well, he’s walking faster and with more assurance—he’s learned that nothing along the way will surprise him or get in his way. Nano's personality is shining through more every day. He’s started wagging his tail when we come home, which is the sweetest sight. Nano also loves his snacks more than ever and has become very comfortable being left in his designated room when we’re out. Whether we head to the gym, bike ride, or hike, he’s content and calm for hours. When we return, he’s happy, relaxed, and ready to greet us with that wagging tail. We took Nano to a friend’s house to watch the NFL playoffs. He was the star of the evening! Nano was either cuddled up on my lap or lounging comfortably, and he even joined the other dog for a walk. We thought he might only go partway, but Nano surprised us by happily completing the whole route. He charmed everyone there—everybody agreed he’s absolutely adorable. Nano is completely potty trained—he hasn’t had a single accident! He’s also the ultimate cuddle buddy, always happy to relax on your lap and soak up the love. Nano would make a wonderful addition to a loving home. He’s cute, cuddly, and the perfect companion for someone who wants a loyal, sweet pup who loves routine, snacks, and lots of love!" Nano is back on-site and ready for his forever home. Drop by to meet him any day of the week between 10 AM and 3 PM!
