Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 25th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.       Adoption Fee: $750   Paloma is a 4 year old Maltipoo (Maltese x Poodle) who is excited to meet you! Paloma’s former home contacted us when they fell on hard times and were unable to afford veterinary care for her. She had been peeing blood and x-rays revealed a bladder stone the size of an egg! We were able to get her emergency surgery and she is now on the mend. She came to us full of mats, so we got her all cleaned up, and although her fur is short now, it will grow back in lush and beautiful. Paloma weighs 14 pounds and has a non-shedding type of coat that makes her an option for those with allergies, and she will require regular grooming every 6 weeks or so so she never ends up matted and in pain again! Interested homes should be ready to discuss her continued medical care as well. This little lady has been through so much but she knows it will be worth it once she meets you!    Paloma is a fabulously cuddly gal who adores her people above all else. While our girl can be a bit quiet around new people, she comes to life when she sees those that she loves, breaking out her happy little dance as her paws tap across the floor. Paloma would love a home where her human is home for most of the day, as she’s always down for snuggles and kisses. If your dream of a perfect evening is a movie marathon over a shared bowl of popcorn, Paloma is your new bestie! She could even help you prepare a fabulous spread for dinner… as long as you slip her some chicken! Paloma also loves being rubbed behind the ears as her eyes blink close. Our girl deserves only the best. With her ever-growing collection of sweaters and bows, Paloma will rival even the most famous models as she hits the runway.  Paloma wakes up at 8 AM and rolls onto her belly for cuddles right away. She has her morning meal and then heads out into the yard for some sunbathing. Once she’s had her fill, she comes back inside for a nap before lunch. She gets a short walk in the afternoon before spending some time on her foster mom’s lap. She has dinner at 6 PM before she spends the rest of her evening lounging on the couch until she’s ready for bed.  Paloma lives with several small dogs and gets along well with all of them. She is a little hesitant when meeting new people but if she is given the chance to settle in she is set! Paloma can’t wait to find her lucky family to show her the best pampered life ever!     Paloma is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience who are prepared to handle her ongoing care. Kids should be over the age of 9.January 25, 2025, 12:03 am

Mushroom arrived at our rescue with her newborn babies and was one of the best mama’s we have ever seen! Now that she’s raised her babies, this gal is ready to find a forever home of her own. Mushroom has a lower shedding coat and adorable puppy dog eyes that make her irresistible to anyone who meets her. If you’ve been looking to complete your mushroom collection, adopt the rarest Mushroom of them all, the Paw-Shroom herself!      Mushroom is a happy and loving pup who will make you see the world through a brighter light! Her tail never stops wagging and she loves to make the most of every moment. Mushroom is playful and taught herself how to play solo fetch with her toys, all with a huge smile on her face. She loves car rides and gazes out the window with an enthusiasm that is unmatched. She loves her snacks and has become a regular at the local coffee shop where she gets her pup cups. Mushroom loves to run and play in the yard and has also enjoyed starting to explore the local trails. She would be an awesome companion for a family who like to spend time together both on the couch and out on the town! Mushroom has made friends of everyone she goes and we know she will continue being a happiness ambassador in her forever home.  Mushroom wakes up around 8 AM and goes into the yard to sniff around a bit until she is ready for breakfast. She goes on a walk around 10:30 AM and then she returns home for some playtime with the resident dogs. During the day, Mushroom lounges in one of her various dog beds with a toy. She loves getting cuddles and is always ready to give you a reason to take a break from work to hang out with her. She goes out on another walk around 4 PM and then returns home to lounge until dinner. Once she eats, she ends her day getting her belly rubbed until she drifts off to sleep. Mushroom is crate trained and almost completely house trained. She loves being brushed and sits patiently as her coat is fluffed. Come add this special Mushroom to your garden today!      Mushroom is an option for any home with dog experience, even if that experience is less recent. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.     Adoption Fee: $800   Amora is an 11 month old Maltese x Yorkie mix who can’t wait to bring oodles of love to her lucky forever family! Amora was rescued from the shelter with a bunch of her pals when the shelter was running out of space. She needed a bath and a trim, so we whisked her to the salon and let one of our amazing volunteer groomers work their magic! When we saw Amora a few hours later we could hardly believe it was the same girl! Amora weighs 8 pounds and has a light shedding coat so she won’t be an option for those with allergies but she is ready to shower you in endless love!    Amora is absolutely bursting with personality and everyone who meets her will agree! Amora loves being cuddled and has a knack for finding any open lap in the room so she can get her snuggles. She loves to dance on her hind legs and bounces around to show off her moves. Amora takes on every day with a sunny outlook and a desire to make the most of her waking hours. She loves playing with her toys and picked up fetch instantly. She adores her backyard and will roll around and romp in the grass for hours if you let her. She loves following her humans around the house and keeping herself abreast with the daily household agenda. She runs a tight (but adorable) ship as she makes sure you’re bringing home the bacon! Amora is the perfect blend of snuggly and playful like any good puppy. She’s down for whatever you want to do, whether that’s a long hike, a camping trip under the stars, or a day on the couch watching romcoms! Amora would be a fabulous addition for just about any home, as long as you are ready to shower her in love and affection.  Amora wakes up around 6:30 AM when her foster humans get their day started. She goes outside for a potty break and then lounges around while the humans get their days started. She gets breakfast and then heads out on her morning stroll. During the day, Amora hangs out on her bed, plays with her toys, or keeps her foster mom company as she works at her desk. She takes a nap while her foster mom leaves for some errands and then plays in the afternoon before she gets another walk. She has dinner around 6 PM and then hangs out with the rest of her family for the remainder of the evening until she goes to bed around 9 PM. Amora has previously lived with other dogs and gets along well with them. She lives in a household filled with humans of all ages and adores them all. Interested homes should be prepared to continue the training and socialization her foster home has started. Amora is super smart and has already picked up several tricks. What a smart girl! Amora walks well on the leash. She is house trained and crate trained. She is just so loving and she can’t wait to charm you instantly! Come fall in love with Amora today!      Amora is an option for homes who have prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 5.January 29, 2025, 4:26 pm

Elmo was rescued with several of his muppet pals when they needed a place to crash. We knew we could find them perfect forever homes so we scooped them up and brought them to our DPS studio! Elmo weighs 11 pounds and is just as adorable as can be. He has a non-shedding coat and is an option for homes with allergies or who just want less hair around the house. Come and meet your new best pal, Elmo, today!     Elmo is a vibrant, energetic, fun loving adorable pup who is just the best resident of Sesame Street ever. Elmo adores his humans and follows his foster mom around like a cute little shadow. Elmo loves playing with his toys, chasing butterflies across the yard, and generally soaking up life. He loves cuddling and is always happy to park himself in your lap for snuggles and kisses. He is super sweet and affectionate and has a permanent smile on his face. Elmo is the perfect blend of playful and laid back. He’s just happy to do whatever you want to do. Elmo would thrive in a home ready to shower him in love and affection. He just wants to play and explore the world with his lucky forever family. Elmo’s tail wags so much that he is known to accidentally smack people in the legs as he shows off his bright smile. He can also stand on his hind legs and bust a move, so get your disco ball ready! Elmo is just the sweetest pup in the entire world and we know he will be an amazing companion to anyone (but Rocko).  Elmo starts each morning with snuggles and kisses at 7 AM. He goes outside to potty and then enjoys breakfast before playing with his human foster siblings. During the day, Elmo alternates between hanging out in the house, romping around the backyard, and napping in the sunshine. Once everyone comes home from work and school, Elmo shows off his zoomies and gets tons of belly rubs and kisses. He eats dinner when his foster humans do and then spends the rest of his evening cuddling until he goes into his crate for the night Elmo currently lives with a resident dog and they get along well. He adores all humans from the young to the young at heart. He loves being chased around and is amazing at being “it” during tag. Elmo walks well on the leash and loves going on walks. He is 80% house trained. Elmo is just a wonderful little pup who can’t wait to meet you!      Elmo is an option for homes who have previously owned a dog. At 2 years old, she’s a little lady who thrives on love, patience, and a good walk. Harmony might take a little time to warm up, but once she does, she’s all in! She’s got a great balance of playful energy and calm companionship—whether she’s chasing after her favorite ball or lounging at your feet while you binge-watch your favorite show. And the best part? She’s totally housetrained, never had an accident, and doesn’t bark, dig, or chew. Yep, she’s practically perfect! Harmony while a mix of breeds who typically don't shed, because of her wire coat, will shed lightly.    Harmony’s daily routine is simple yet delightful. She’s on your schedule—waking up when you do and settling in for the night around 10:30 PM. Four walks a day keep her tail wagging, and while she’s not one to inhale her meals, she’s always up for a snack (who isn’t?). When you’re out, she hangs around the apartment like a little independent queen, choosing between her comfy bed on the floor or snuggling up at the foot of yours. With a patient approach, you’ll see her confidence soar, especially during her walks and playtime with toys.   Harmony gets along well with other dogs, showing relaxed and friendly body language on walks. While she’s not a fan of sudden movements or loud noises, she’d do great in a home with older kids who understand the art of patience and gentle love. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, sweet-natured companion who just needs a little time to trust, Harmony is ready to fill your life with joy, snuggles, and plenty of tail wags!   Cute note from her foster: 'When we first met she was hesitant of me and her surroundings, so I gave her the space to explore. Once she found some balls in the corner, her tail was wagging and she was throwing herself the ball! I found it a perfect opportunity to have fun together. She would bring the ball back to me so I could throw it again. It was so cute and funny to watch her run around with confidence. I know having consistency (a permanent family) in her life will really make her a special girl.'   Harmony is a best option for someone who has dog experience and has owned a dog of their own. If there are kids they need to be calmer, quieter and over the age of 10.January 28, 2025, 5:45 pm

Sirloin was rescued from the shelter with some of his foodie pals in desperate need of a good meal and a haircut. We knew we could give him the makeover he deserved so we added him to our basket and away we went! Sirloin weighs 10 pounds and has a gorgeous non-shedding coat that makes him an option for homes with allergies. Our boy has been the apple of our rib-eye since he joined our rescue and we can’t wait for him to find the most amazing home on the planet! If you’ve been looking for some flavor and richness in your life, you won’t find a better pup than our Sirloin!       Sirloin is a perky, happy boy who can’t wait to take on life with his forever humans by his side! He is very loving and is amazing at giving cuddles and kisses. He is a pro at snuggling on the couch and always encourages his humans to take lots of naps so he can hang out close to you. He is super content to chill and enjoy your company, but he isn’t a velcro dog who needs to be in your eye line 24/7, rather he just likes hanging out with those he loves. Sirloin is an “extreme lounger” according to his foster mom, but he still tackles his walks with a spring in his step and a smile on his face. Sirloin would love to find a home ready to show him love and adoration for the rest of his life as we know he deserves the entire world. We rarely meet a dog as amazing as Sirloin and we have promised his foster mom we will stop at nothing to find him a home that will cherish him!  Sirloin wakes up around 7 AM and sniffs at his food before going outside to potty. He is content to hang out on the couch near his foster humans during the day. He is very affectionate and loves his naps, so prepare for non-stop cuddles when you take breaks from work. He goes on a few walks during the day, the first around 9 AM and the second around 3 PM. In the afternoon, he looks out the window and watches the world go by. He has dinner at 6 PM and then spends the rest of the evening cuddled on the couch until he is ready to bed. Sirloin has interacted well with dogs and humans alike. He is very well-behaved when he meets new potential friends and impresses everyone with his easy-going nature. He walks very well on a leash and he is house-trained. Interested homes should be prepared to discuss plans for continued coat maintenance. If you’ve been hoping to add a rare cut of adorable pup to your life, look no further than Sirloin!     Sirloin is an option for those with prior dog owning experience. Mr. Little Potato Head! What a great name. To our best knowledge, probably a maltese poodle mix, he's approximately 3 years old and weights about 14 pounds. He is great with people and children. He walks well on a leash but does like to bark at other dogs, but will settle when you correct him. He loves to eat and is very food/treat motivated. He must have had a family before as he settled in with his foster very easily. He does well in car rides and loves his daily walks. Are you ready to incorporate him into your family!? SF Bay Area Adoptions only, please email if interested.

Story
No. Dot Com, the peewee Maltese Yorkie mix currently setting the Muttville world afire with dainty adorability, did not get an ear lift. Those highflying beacons of lace-trimmed glamour are natural. Or supernatural. Real for sure. So is her gentility and quiet curiosity. Firm on her feet and friendly to new people, dogs and experiences, she takes it all in with magnanimity - and the intention of using it in poetry she composes whilst sunbathing. She may be a scant 7 lbs, but girl can do the stairs! Nothing left to do but adopt her this instant. Here's some notes from her foster: Dottie (DotCom) is just waiting to become your teeny, bubbly, new best friend! Dot’s favorite things are attention, food and especially people who give her attention and food! This friendly girl is great at reading the room— if you’re up and doing stuff around the house, she’ll be chasing you, running around and paying attention to what you’re doing. If you’re chilling out, watching tv, doing some work… she’ll calmly find a comfy spot near by to take a nap, or sneak in some cuddles. Dottie sleeps through the night, likes other dogs, enjoys car rides, loves being outside going on walks or being carried in a sling. I believe Dottie was trained to use a pee pad as I’ve seen her use the one intended for one of my own dogs multiple times, but I keep her on a schedule and still take her out every few hours. Dot is tiny in size, but has a huge personality- silly, sassy, sweet..mixed with perfect amount of crazy bedhead, you just can’t help falling in love with her! Dottie is going to bring so much love and laughter into your home. I can’t wait until she find the perfect forever family she deserves!

Story
Dominic is the sweetest little guy you will ever meet. He's 8 lbs of pure love. After being found as a stray and being shaved, neutered, lots of teeth removed, top of head stitched up and lots of eye drops (forever), he still loves to go for walks, get hugged and kissed, hang out with his fosters other dogs, sit on your lap (all the time). He is super easy to bathe, quiet, uses the dog door 99% of the time, and sleeps through the night on top of the bed. 13-year-old Dominic has some hearing loss and will grab at food in your hand but doesn't bite. He likes tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden and shares his food with the other dogs. He will need eye medicine for tear production the rest of his life and is a good boy when putting the drops in. Dominic is good with other dogs and is an easygoing boy. His favorite forever home will be where he has a lap to sit on and someone home with him for much of the day.

Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $850   Meet Rhyme – The Snuggly, Bouncy, Love-Packed Bichon-Poo! Looking for a hypoallergenic pup with a non-shedding coat that’s perfect for allergy sufferers? How about one who’s equal parts playful, cuddly, and just a little bit mischievous? Well, meet Rhyme, a 1-2 year old, 14-pound ball of fluff and joy who’s ready to find her forever home!   A Day in the Life of Rhyme (AKA: Your Future Sidekick) Rhyme starts her day at 5:30 AM sharp—because why waste a perfectly good morning? She heads outside with her foster sibling, Raven, for a quick potty break, then fuels up with breakfast. After that, it’s time for some serious backyard play before settling into her daily routine of… well, being adorable and demanding attention.   During the day, she alternates between hanging out in the laundry room and backyard, playing a round (or ten) of fetch in the living room, and graciously allowing herself to be adored. Evenings are for more fetch, more toys, and finally some good old-fashioned snuggling on the couch. At bedtime, Rhyme prefers to sleep next to her human, because, let’s be honest, she’s the ultimate Velcro dog—but with a little time, she could learn to settle in a crate.   Personality – Affection Overload Incoming! From the moment Rhyme stepped paw into her foster home, she decided that she was the queen of attention. She loves people, loves pets, and loves giving kisses (so prepare for an enthusiastic face-washing at all times). She initially ignored the cat but has now decided that chasing the kitty is her new favorite hobby—though she’s easily redirected.   Her ideal day includes: Following you from room to room like a dedicated shadow Snuggling up as close as possible whenever you sit down Keeping an eye on all your activities (especially if food is involved) Playing fetch like an Olympic athlete   She’s also a bit of a comedian—she once jumped over the cat mid-fetch and once pushed Raven through the dog door when she was taking too long (efficiency is key!).   Social Skills – Fur-iendly, Fun, & Full of Love Rhyme gets along great with other dogs, but let’s be real—her true love is YOU. While she likes hanging out with Raven, she’s not much of a cuddle buddy with other pups—her preferred cuddle target is you, always you.   She’s been gentle with kids (ages 11+) and would likely do well with younger ones, as long as they’re ready for a little training on boundaries (she’s a jumper, but we’re working on it!).   Training – A Work in Progress, But a Fast Learner! Housetrained? Yes! Uses the dog door like a pro. Crate trained? Meh… She can stay in a crate but might cry a little (or a lot). Leash walking? Getting there! She pulls a bit and has a talent for circling around your legs (fancy footwork required). Chewing? Oh yes, she’s got skills. If she can reach it, she’ll probably taste-test it (RIP to one unfortunate camera cord). Barking? Only when someone’s at the door—she takes her job as official home security officer very seriously.   The Perfect Home for Rhyme A home where she can be the center of attention (seriously, she loves being spoiled). A family that will play with her and snuggle her every single day (this is a requirement). Patience and consistency for training—she’s a smart girl who wants to please! Another dog is fine, but she really just wants her human’s love the most.   Why You Need Rhyme in Your Life She’s sweet, sassy, playful, cuddly, and full of love—with just the right touch of mischief to keep you entertained. Whether she’s pushing her dog friend through a door, jumping over the cat in a game of fetch, or curled up against you watching TV, Rhyme is guaranteed to bring laughter, warmth, and endless love to her forever home.   Are you ready for your new best friend? Rhyme is waiting to steal your heart!    Rhyme is an option for a home that has had a dog previously. If there are children they need to be at least over the age of 5 and knock over proof.                January 29, 2025, 2:39 am

This 1-2-year-old Bichon-Poodle mix is as loyal as they come, non-shedding (perfect for allergy sufferers!), and absolutely adorable. The Mystery of Riddle’s Heart (Spoiler: It Belongs to You!) Riddle was a bit shy when he first arrived at his foster home, but it only took three days for his true personality to shine. Once he decides you’re his person, he will never stop looking at you with pure adoration (seriously, his eye contact game is strong). He follows his foster everywhere, curls up next to you like a tiny, fluffy shadow, and politely requests belly rubs whenever possible. He even slept in his own crate at first but one night walked into his foster sibling Dobby’s crate—and they’ve been cuddling together ever since. Yes, it’s that cute. A Day in the Life of Riddle: &#226&#156&#148 7:00 AM: Morning walk (he makes adorable little circles around you while checking in).&#226&#156&#148 7:30 AM: Breakfast—he’s a nibbler and snacks throughout the day.&#226&#156&#148 Work Time: Either lounges on the couch or snoozes next to you while you work.&#226&#156&#148 2:30 PM: Another walk (more sniffing, more tail wags).&#226&#156&#148 5:00 PM: Dinner (he eats at his own pace—no rush, no worries).&#226&#156&#148 9:30 PM: Last potty break before bedtime, where he dreams of belly rubs and long walks with his favorite person—you! What Makes Riddle Special? &#226&#156&#148 House-trained & crate-trained – A gentleman indoors!&#226&#156&#148 Non-shedding coat – No fur tumbleweeds in your home.&#226&#156&#148 Loves walks & being by your side – The perfect adventure buddy!&#226&#156&#148 Great with dogs his size – Loves his buddy Dobby but is cautious with bigger dogs.&#226&#156&#148 Rides well in cars & even took public transportation like a pro!&#226&#156&#148 Quiet & polite – Only barks at the doorbell, then quickly settles down.&#226&#156&#148 Perfect for a work-from-home human, retiree, or family with older kids. Riddle’s Dream Home: Riddle would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can be someone’s shadow and best friend. He’d love a human who enjoys leisurely walks, cozy movie nights, and gentle companionship. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Why You Need Riddle in Your Life: This little guy is pure sweetness wrapped in a fluffy, non-shedding coat. He adores his person, checks in constantly, and gives you that “you’re my whole world” look that melts hearts. If you’re looking for a best friend who’s both loyal and low-maintenance, Riddle is waiting to meet you!
