All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Rainbow Brite, a sweet and fluffy 3 year old, 17.6 lb Maltipoo looking for her forever home! This little lady may be a bit shy at first, but beneath her timid exterior lies a heart full of love.   When Rainbow Brite first arrived, she was understandably nervous and spent the first few days hiding. She wouldn't eat or take treats, preferring the safety of under the couch. Thankfully, the resident dogs helped her feel more comfortable, and now she's blossomed! She now happily accepts treats, adores ear scratches, and soaks up all the affection she can get (until she's had enough, then she politely walks away!).   Rainbow Brite has quickly learned to love the comforts of home. You can find her napping on the doggie couch or snuggling on the 'communal' dog couch. She thrives on companionship, enjoying the company of both other dogs and her humans. She's not much of a toy player just yet, preferring the simple joys of a sunny spot or a cuddle on the couch.   One of Rainbow Brite's favorite things is car rides! She knows the morning routine and waits patiently by the garage door when it's time to drop off our son at school. If you open a car door, she'll happily hop right in, ready for an adventure.   While she isn't fully leash-trained yet, Rainbow Brite enjoys her walks and will happily wear her harness. She has a doggie door and is fully house-trained, although she had a couple of accidents the first week while adjusting. She is free-fed.   Due to her initial shyness, Rainbow Brite requires a patient and understanding home with experience in working with shy dogs. We believe she would thrive in a home with other canine companions, as they have helped her come out of her shell and feel more secure. She can get a bit clingy and may bark if left alone without the other dogs, so having a furry friend around is essential for her well-being.   Could Rainbow Brite be the perfect ray of sunshine for your family? If you have a loving home with dog experience and other dog companions, please consider giving this sweet girl the forever home she deserves.February 13, 2025, 2:35 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 25th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.       Adoption Fee: $700   Paloma is a 4 year old Maltipoo (Maltese x Poodle) who is excited to meet you! Paloma’s former home contacted us when they fell on hard times and were unable to afford veterinary care for her. She had been peeing blood and x-rays revealed a bladder stone the size of an egg! We were able to get her emergency surgery and she is now on the mend. She came to us full of mats, so we got her all cleaned up, and although her fur is short now, it will grow back in lush and beautiful. Paloma weighs 14 pounds and has a non-shedding type of coat that makes her an option for those with allergies, and she will require regular grooming every 6 weeks or so so she never ends up matted and in pain again! Interested homes should be ready to discuss her continued medical care as well. This little lady has been through so much but she knows it will be worth it once she meets you!    Paloma is a fabulously cuddly gal who adores her people above all else. While our girl can be a bit quiet around new people, she comes to life when she sees those that she loves, breaking out her happy little dance as her paws tap across the floor. Paloma would love a home where her human is home for most of the day, as she’s always down for snuggles and kisses. If your dream of a perfect evening is a movie marathon over a shared bowl of popcorn, Paloma is your new bestie! She could even help you prepare a fabulous spread for dinner… as long as you slip her some chicken! Paloma also loves being rubbed behind the ears as her eyes blink close. Our girl deserves only the best. With her ever-growing collection of sweaters and bows, Paloma will rival even the most famous models as she hits the runway.  Paloma wakes up at 8 AM and rolls onto her belly for cuddles right away. She has her morning meal and then heads out into the yard for some sunbathing. Once she’s had her fill, she comes back inside for a nap before lunch. She gets a short walk in the afternoon before spending some time on her foster mom’s lap. She has dinner at 6 PM before she spends the rest of her evening lounging on the couch until she’s ready for bed.  Paloma lives with several small dogs and gets along well with all of them. She is a little hesitant when meeting new people but if she is given the chance to settle in she is set! Paloma can’t wait to find her lucky family to show her the best pampered life ever!     Paloma is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience who are prepared to handle her ongoing care. Kids should be over the age of 9.February 17, 2025, 4:59 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $800 Nostalgia is an adorable 10-12 month old female Maltipoo, weighing in at 14 lbs, with a soft, non-shedding coat that will require regular grooming. She can be a bit timid upon first meeting, but as she gains confidence, her sweet personality starts to shine. Once she trusts you, she becomes a total cuddlebug—she loves belly rubs and will nudge your hand if you dare stop! True to her “velcro dog” nature, she prefers to always be touching you, whether she’s curled up against your side or resting a paw on your leg.   She has a soft-spot (literally) for anything plushy and cozy, whether it’s a fluffy dog bed, a comfy couch, or even freshly dried laundry! While she’s generally a lounger, she enjoys playtime when her humans are excited. On walks, Nostalgia does well but has a tendency to zigzag and stop frequently for a sniff. She has great potential with consistent training and firm yet positive guidance. However, she gets very fixated on squirrels, birds, and gophers—her little hunting instincts kick in, and it can be tricky to redirect her attention!   Nostalgia gets along well with other dogs, but can be a tad bit reactive on leash, so off-leash meets are best for her, and her adopter will want to do a bit of training around this behavior.   Nostalgia's perfect home:   One where someone is around most of the time— she’s very affectionate and attached to her people and doesn't love alone time. Nostalgia isn't a big fan of confinement in a pen or crate, so someone who is willing to let her roam (and do some training as needed!) would be ideal. And of course lots of love, positive reinforcement, and snuggles!   Nostalgia is an incredibly loving little pup who just wants to feel safe and connected to her humans. If you’re looking for a devoted, cuddly companion who will happily lounge by your side (or on your laundry!), she might be the perfect fit!   Nostalgia is only an option for a home that has owned a dog before. She is best suited to a home with no small children, as their energy can be a bit much for her.February 17, 2025, 12:54 pm

Mr. Little Potato Head! What a great name. To our best knowledge, probably a maltese poodle mix, he's approximately 3 years old and weights about 14 pounds. He is great with people and children. He walks well on a leash but does like to bark at other dogs, but will settle when you correct him. He loves to eat and is very food/treat motivated. He must have had a family before as he settled in with his foster very easily. He does well in car rides and loves his daily walks. Are you ready to incorporate him into your family!? SF Bay Area Adoptions only, please email if interested.

Meet Turnpike! Turnpike is a sweet-as-sugar senior who’s ready to steal your heart! This lovable boy has a gentle soul and a wagging tail that never stops. Whether it’s a quiet cuddle on the couch or a sunny stroll in the park, Turnpike is always by your side, bringing endless joy. Turnpike gets along with everyone he meets and has a soft spot for treats and cozy blankets. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion, Turnpike is ready to find his forever home. Here's some notes from his foster: Turnpike: A Sweet and Mellow Addition to a Family with Pets Turnpike is a charming little guy with an irresistible, funny, sweet personality! In just a few days, I fell in love with him, and he won over everyone he met with his gentle and easygoing nature. He's a quiet, independent dog who's happy to go with the flow. Little dude is really good at tailing people and animals alike when he’s up and about in the house. I have suspicions that he might be part cat. He shows affection by rubbing his head against things or people he likes. Despite being very even-tempered and chill, he definitely rules the roost even if my dog is quite a bit bigger than he is (30-35lbs). Turnpike has displaced my dog from the larger beds in the house a couple of times already. He’s definitely a big fan of cosy fleece blankets and plushies-as-pillows. Turnpike is 100% potty trained and also pee pad trained. He's incredibly earnest about holding it until he can go outside, which is especially important considering how much water he drinks. He'd thrive in a home with easy access to a patio or yard for frequent potty breaks so he doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. When he needs to go, you will learn his quiet little gestures to let you know. Although one of Turnpike’s biggest charms is his independent nature happy to explore the smells of his environment by himself, he truly blossoms in a lively home with other dogs and plenty of human activity. His walks are much more spirited when he's in a social environment, and he loves greeting people and other animals with gentle nose bumps. He's incredibly gentle and not at all aggressive, suggesting he would do well in a home with other small pets (cats, squirrels, hamsters, etc.). Turnpike is a very quiet dog – I haven't even heard him bark! He's content to find his bed and settle in for a nap when left alone, showing no signs of issues being left alone. Being blind, Turnpike explores his surroundings by gently bumping into things. He's more confident in daylight and a little more cautious at night. I've found that walking close to him and shuffling my feet helps him navigate, and a gentle sniff of my leg or shoes reassures him I’m right here when he seems unsure. He quickly learned where the door to the house is and is always happiest when returning to the warm inside. Turnpike sleeps soundly through the night, but having a pee pad nearby would be helpful for any nighttime potty needs. While he enjoys snuggling on the bed, it's important to be cautious due to his blindness and ensure he can't fall. He loves nose, ear, belly, and chest rubs to help him drift off to sleep. He might be a little restless or grumble the first few nights in a new home as he adjusts. Turnpike is a truly special dog who deserves a loving and understanding home. He's such a good boy who brought so much joy to me! If you're looking for a gentle, low-key companion who’s house-trained, the quiet type, and adaptable, Turnpike is perfect!

Story
**Meet Rachel Saturday, February 15th from 10 to 1 at Dublin Petsmart west, 6960 Amador Plaza Rd.** Rachel is a white, female Maltese/Havanese mix. She is 2-years-old and weighs only 10.2 lbs. Perky and happy, she loves people and likes to cuddle on your lap. She also likes to talk to you in her sweet doggy voice. She can be shy at times and will do well with someone who will take their time to introduce her to new people and places at her own pace. A home without a lot of activity would be best. Rachel likes to play with her doggy toys, has a good appetite, and sleeps quietly thru the night in her crate. She is housebroken as long as she has 3 walks daily. (Morning, afternoon, and evening). She is also friendly with other dogs. Spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, Rachel is ready to live in a forever home. She bonds quickly, is affectionate (licks your face), and loves attention. What a cute, happy, sweet dog! If you're interested in Rachel, you can submit an application by clicking the "Apply For Adoption box " located below her photos on the right side.
