Story
Breed: Maltese / Terrier mix Age: 6 yrs. Weight: 26 lbs. Good with dogs: yes Good with cats: unsure Good with kids: no Energy level: unsure Good with men/strangers: yes Hypoallergenic: yes Special home requirements or medical: pending Additional info: Poor Coco was dumped at the shelter terrified and unsure of what was happening to her. She has slowly learned to trust her foster but is still very fearful of strangers who come into her space. She wants love and attention but takes time to learn that you will not hurt her. She is still VERY shy and recovering from her past. She is a good walker on the leash, very treat motivated, and wants a quiet adult only home where she can be loved and never abused or abandoned again. Story
Marguerite is a lovely girl. She came to us from the South LA shelter with a terrible skin infection, and has gotten so much better in the last few weeks! She is pretty much ready to go to her forever home now. Marguerite can be weary when meeting new people at first, and can be startled by sudden movements. But once she knows you, she is a cuddly, affectionate, spunky girl who just wants to please. Marguerite is fully crate trained, potty trained (as long as she is taken outside consistently) and is friendly and respectful to other dogs in the home and out ‘n about on walks. She loves playing fetch and being groomed and brushed. We recommend a calm/medium energy level adult-only home for Marguerite. She is also ok with cats. We are delighted to have this girl under our wing, and just want to find her a loving forever home where she will be cherished!

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET DOVE! This precious, 3 yr old, 12 lb, creamy white Maltese Pomeranian…who had very long, beautiful, silky hair with a Pommie tail…had a horrible case of kennel cough and we were afraid she had pneumonia. As she started to recover, her personality started to emerge and she is not only a sweetheart, she is loving, affectionate and quite active when she wants to be. She craves attention and when you are walking her — she is great on a leash too — she adoringly looks up at you to say “thank you for loving me.” Now that she has recovered, she is beginning to come out of her shell more and more. It’s pretty clear that she was loved, but she was in awful condition when she arrived. The shelter had to shave some of her matts off her behind so that she could use the bathroom! One thing, she doesn’t like her face messed with, so we’re not sure if this was a bad experience or she just doesn’t like it. Dove can be a little fearful and makes a game out of catching her and putting a leash on — but bring out the food and she is the first one in line! She will also follow you everywhere and if you don’t want a dog to jump on your bed and want to cuddle with you, Dove would not be your girl 🙁 Great with people, other dogs and her toys! She rides wonderfully in the car and settles down quickly. She loves to run and play and seems to be up for whatever is on the agenda. Slowly but surely, she is blossoming and her foster mom says she is so good and so smart, she didn’t even need a crate on her first night! The ideal family for Dove would be one where she is surrounded by love, affection, kindness. Another dog would be welcomed but not an absolute. She would not be happy left alone all day…she deserves a full life. She would love a yard, lots of walks, kids over 8 yrs old and good food! Yes, she is a foodie! Does this sound like a dog you could love and who could join your family? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Story
This beautiful girl is Cici. Isn't she stunning? Cici is a 4 yr old, female, Poodle/Maltese mix that is about 16lbs of pure sweetness! Cici came to us when she was found dumped and abandoned on the streets in bad condition...flea infested, emaciated, and a broken leg. We got her the medical attention she needed including a surgery to repair her leg and now she is one happy, healthy, and grateful little pup! Cici is a dog that must definitely have another sweet and playful dog in the home. If you don't have another dog, she has a best friend, Tali, a 2 yr old, female, Maltese/Terrier mix that she can be adopted with. Once she feels comfy and safe, she will open up and just play, play, play! A home with a safe/secure backyard would be ideal along with owners that are not gone long hours during the day. Cici is excellent in the car and seems to be potty trained with outdoor access. She still needs a little polishing with walking on leash, but she is very smart and a very quick learner. A home that will allow her on furniture and dote on her like she deserves is exactly what she needs. Sweet Cici is such an amazing dog that we know that perfect forever home is out there for her! Cici is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Please contact us at: gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles Areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required.

These pups are in Agoura Hills, California too!

Story
Meet Lux! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 2  year  old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Lux and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app  November 1, 2024, 6:03 pm
