You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online  Adoption Application THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME. Lexi is a sweet, shy girl who will take some patience to warm up. We only know a little of her history, but it took a very long time for her to warm up. After about 3 weeks, she would come out of hiding, but I wasn't able to touch her. In the beginning, if I even looked at her, she would take off and hide. Since then, she has come around a lot. I can touch her while she is eating wet food. I can even pick her up, but not for long. Her foster brother steals her food, and she lets him! She has the sweetest nature, and I know in the right home she would blossom into the cat I've seen her to be at times. She will show you glimpses of who she is, and it gives me great hope for her. She wasn't socialized with anyone but her previous owner. So, at first, she is very timid.    I decided to move Lexi to my teenager's room a couple of days ago so she could get more attention and learn that snuggles are nice. She seems to enjoy lying on the bed and watching TV with my daughter.   Lexi recently had a dental cleaning, and she had no teeth extracted. I always worry about that, but she got a clean bill of health! She is on the lighter side for a purebred at 10.9 pounds. I think she will gain more weight now that she doesn't have a bully cat that doesn't let her eat much. She is long and lanky right now but not skinny. If you have ever seen a black smoke cat, they have such a cool look to their coat! She looks black, but her undercoat is white. I've only ever seen one other black smoke in person. They sure are beautiful and unique!    While Lexi has not been with dogs, I feel Lexi would be okay with a calm dog who doesn't chase cats. A slow introduction would be very important! She would also do best in a home that doesn't have young children. Too much noise and chaos will cause her stress and not allow her to relax and flourish. Lexi can be adopted to a home with another cat that is not dominant and is laid back. It would be best for her to go to a home with a single or maybe two cats. Too many cats may overwhelm her. Lexi's adoption fee is $275.00. This includes spay/neuter, FVRCP Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Microchip, Combo test (neg/neg), dewormer, flea prevention, and wellness visit. Lexi is located in Mount Lookout, WV. She can be adopted within 6 hours of her location if the adopter is willing to meet halfway. Please note a transport fee of $85.00 may be added if the adopter does not meet halfway. For more information, please contact Maine Coon Rescue at: adoption@mainecoonrescue.net.
