Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi there! We're Eddie and Gabe, two dashing Maine Coon brothers looking for a new place to call home—together, of course. You see, our human had to move into assisted living, and we couldn't go with her. We've always been around other kitties and people, and we miss having a cozy spot and a loving family to snuggle with. I'm Eddie, the one with the more white fur and my brother Gabe here has more brown in his coat. We may be eight years old, but we've got plenty of love to give! We’re gentle and sweet. We’ve lived with other cats who don’t have FIV, and guess what? They’re perfectly healthy! FIV isn’t the big deal some people think it is. As long as we don’t get into major scuffles (which we never do), we can live happily with other cats. Most rescues up north don’t even test for it anymore! All we want is a calm, quiet home where we can keep each other company—and maybe get some nice ear scratches from you, too! We'd be thrilled to cozy up in the bed with you! If you’ve got room in your heart and home for two loving boys like us, we promise to make it worth your while. Come meet us, and you’ll see! Cuddles,Eddie & Gabe If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. December 10, 2024, 10:14 pm

My brother Eddie (he’s the one with more white fur) and I are in search of a cozy, calm home where we can stay together. We’ve been through a lot recently—our human had to move into assisted living, and we had to say goodbye. It's been hard, and we really miss having a family to love us. I won’t lie, we’re pretty desperate for a fresh start, but we know there's someone out there who’ll open their heart to us. We’re eight years old, but that just means we’ve perfected the art of being the best companions! We love being around other kitties and people, and we never cause a fuss. We would love to sleep with you! We’re not fighters—just lovers, really—so even though we’re FIV-positive, it’s no big deal. The other cats we lived with didn’t get it, and most places up north don’t even test for it anymore. We just need someone who understands that love matters more than any label. Eddie and I are a package deal—we’ve always been together, and we can’t imagine life any other way. We’re ready to bring warmth, purrs, and a whole lot of sweetness to a new home. If you’ve got room for two loving brothers who just want to feel safe and cherished again, we’d be forever grateful. Come meet us, and let us show you how much we’ve been saving up all our love for you! Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi there! My name’s Winston, and let me tell you, I’ve had quite the adventure! One day, I dared to walk right into a stranger’s house through an open door. I was hoping for a warm welcome (and maybe a snack!), but they weren’t as thrilled as I was. Next thing I knew, I was at the shelter, wondering what went wrong. Thankfully, my guardian angel came and whisked me away, knowing I just needed a chance to find someone who could love me as much as I love people. I’m a big boy—17 pounds of pure cuddle power—and I love to be the center of attention. In fact, being the star of the show is kind of my thing! If you’re around, I’ll be right there, ready for some head scratches or a cozy spot next to or on you. I’m told I’m very handsome, and I do my best to keep up that charm, because, honestly, I just want to be loved. My foster mom hasn't been able to test me with other cats, so she's not sure how I’d do with them, but I’ve done well with dogs! At 6.5 years old, I’m just the right age—mature enough to appreciate a good nap but still young enough for playtime. I would appreciate a calm home and I would do well with older children. Could you be the one to give me a cozy, loving home where I can finally relax? I promise, I’ll make every day just a little brighter. Story
Bella is a 5 year old Maine coon calico mix who was abandoned in Iowa along with her 2 siblings, and come all the way to Knoxville, TN. Bella is very loving and can only survive indoors, she has never been back outside since she was found 5 years ago. Bella just wants to lay in your lap all day and cuddle.

Story
Vinca was pulled from a local shelter after they reached out for help for overcrowding. She had been turned in as a stray, although its clear that she had been an inside cat in her former life. In her new forever home, Vinca is looking for a calm, laidback environment that will appreciate her amazing looks including her cleft palate (take a closer look at her nose). She loves to be petted and brushed! She also enjoys the occasional play session with a good catnip mouse or spring toy. Vinca has also been known to chase deer under the covers, so be warned when its bedtime! Vinca prefers to be the only pet in your life, but you wont need another once you meet her!

Story
Mojo was found at a TNR location extremely underweight. Even though he clearly didn't feel well, he still asked for pets. A vet visit determined he was struggling to eat because he had some bad teeth. Thankfully we were able to get Mojo the help he needed. Now that his mouth has healed after his dental surgery, he decided eating might be his favorite thing. After all, he's making up for lost time. He has since gained over a pound. Mojo is a real sweet boy. He loves soft pets and will reward them with purrs and biscuits. He's a very easy foster according to his foster family. He has no bad habits and gets along with the other cats and two dogs in their home.

Story
Hello! I adopted miss Freddi from a friend of a friend. She is a super sweet cat, a little mischievous-but most of her misbehavior comes from the fact that I am a performer full-time. I will soon be heading out on cruise contracts that will leave me gone for anywhere from 6 months to a year or more. I don’t have any family who will want to keep Freddi so I want to find her a safe consistent home where she doesn’t have to deal with her dad’s crazy performer life.
