Maine Coon kittens & cats in Laurel, Maryland

Morty is about 10 years old, a very large Maine Coon mix. I got him from BARCS in Baltimore when I was much younger, and our current home situation has caused some behavior problems. We are no longer able to keep him with us, but I am hoping he can go to a good home. He's a very sweet, affectionate cat, but does better when there is only one other cat or dog in the house. He's never been around children older than one, so we're not sure how he'll be with children.

Please note that the cat that my husband and I like to call Relentless is in the Maine Coon cat family of cat breeds. Our neighbors were under the impression that they could manage to breed pit bulls, Maine Coon cats, and five children of their own without properly nurturing the beautiful animals that they intended to be responsible for. Instead of finding a home for this lovely, nice, personable kitten, they refused to allow her back in their home for months. After she was about to breed kittens again amid the hurricane season, my husband had prepared a nice shelter and cushioned area outdoors where she decided to live until her kittens were born; my husband and I made certain she was fed, warm, and dry until she had her litter of kittens. Once she had her litter, we were uncertain about how many kittens were born until she was prepared to share them. Approximately three (3) weeks ago, she brought her kittens to our home on the front porch, which brings us to now.

Plea for help from Jonathan: “My friend and I took in several feral cats a while ago. Most are now socialized and many are bonded pairs/families. Since we are both experiencing severe health problems currently and a move from the area has become necessary, we can no longer care for the cats. 'Mush'] (NM, Brown Tabby?, DLH?/Maine Coon?, ~7+ years?) & Scout (NM, Black, DSH, ~6+ years?) Mush[mellow] never liked hanging out at the salad bowl, but his food bowl is his claim to fame and weight gain. Scout waits patiently for his turn. And even though Mush also hogs their bed, Scout still loves him and they always work it out. They are best buds for life! Two gentle giants who were found at our local Rite Aid, and are, thus, referred to as the "Rite Brothers". That said, we don't know whether they are siblings, or even related at all, though it is clear they are strongly bonded and have great affection for one another. Mushmellow was initially quite larger than Scout, so we believe there may be some age difference. Whatever the case, they are both big dudes who will need lots of exercise - along with a relatively strict diet. Mushmellow has a tendency to give some pretty strong 'love bites', but he means well. Mack, brown tabby male , and Eden, orange/white female, met in foster care, arriving from the same shelter and quickly became friends. They play, sleep and hang out together. Mack is confident and very affectionate; the snuggly one of the duo. He loves to be held - tries to talk but only a little whisper comes out - will sleep next to Eden or his foster dad, but rarely alone. Mack is very curious and gets into everything! Infatuated with the sink, when he hears water he comes running. He is always ready to shower you with love. His outgoing and engaging spirit will warm your heart. Eden takes a minute for her to decide that you're safe. She enjoys being pet and will purr with delight but likes to keep her feet on the ground ! Her playful spirit will keep you entertained for hours. Her favorite past time is looking out the window to watch the birds, squirrels and chipmunks . She LOVES Mack! These 18-20 week old friends love chasing toys, especially spring toys which are a favorite, and each other with enthusiasm that only a kitten can muster! Best of both worlds! These kittens are a package deal, and they must be adopted together. Sorry, not suited for a home with small children as loud noises scare Eden. They've been each other's best friends from day one, and are ready to share their love with you. Updated 9/28/24 First free exam at any Caring Hands Animal Hospital also included.
