Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Meet Captain Jack Sparrow! We had to give him a main character name because he is always front and center!! He is only 10 months old but is already quite large, so he's going to be a very big boy! He is extremely friendly and affectionate and will follow you around looking for pets and love. He gets along great with everybody, including cats, dogs and kids! He was rescued from a shelter in NC and stayed at a foster home down there while he awaited transport to DPR. At his foster home in NC, he slept in bed with his foster mom every night, cuddled on her pillow. He loves to give kisses too. He is the absolute sweetest boy, and we just can't say enough great things about him!  This cat is neutered, microchipped, up to date on distemper and rabies vaccinations, dewormings, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is on flea/tick preventative and ear mite preventative. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a 'Cat Adoption Application'   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms       Adoption fee is: $300Can’t adopt? Consider donating! We are in need of cat food, litter, and enrichment items for the kitties in our care!    Links to our Amazon and Chewy wishlists: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/QFBUQI1CQBCZhttps://chewygivesback.prf.hn/click/camref:1100lkBUr/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.chewy.com%2Fg%2Fdelaware-pet-rescue_b88829590 If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit a 'Cat Adoption Application'   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms    This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as 'available for adoption', that means the animal is still in DPR's care. *Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up 'curb side'. Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *     DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:  Initial vet visit Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)Distemper vaccinationSNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart wormBroad spectrum dewormers Monthly flea/tick preventative Ear mite preventative The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 23, 2025, 5:02 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Meet Davy Jones! He is a gorgeous, fluffy, orange kitty who is about a year old. He is extremely friendly and affectionate and loves to make new friends! He gets along great with everyone he meets - cats, dogs, kids, you name it - he's a friend to every nation! He loves playing and cuddling with the dog at his foster home and gets SO excited when he sees her. He's gentle with her and just wants to be near her all the time. He has very soft hair and enjoys being pet and held. When he's not actively looking for cuddles, you can find him playing with his foster siblings or with his toys. He was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina and was fostered down there while he awaited transport to DPR. While in NC, he slept with his foster mom every night. He was great friends with the resident dog too and they would even play with toys together! We were so amazed that the dog (who does not typically like to share any of his toys) would bring his toys over to Davy to play with! He's a great guy and will make a great addition to your home!Check out the video of him and one of his doggie friends: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTjQBrBuE/ This cat is neutered, microchipped, up to date on distemper and rabies vaccinations, dewormings, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is on flea/tick preventative and ear mite preventative. Good with cats,
Story
This new friend has just arrived! They have come to us either as a transfer from another shelter, being found as a stray, or have been surrendered to us by their owner. When our friends are new to us, we are typically unsure of their full background, litter box habits, comfort with handling, or experience with other pets or children. Our staff will spend some time reviewing any information provided by previous owners and spend some time with our new friend so that we can better update their biography. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.
