Story

Scarlett was found laying by a trash can unable to move due to severe injuries. Thankfully someone saw her and reached out to our friends at Hope For Paws. They immediately went to get her. They rushed her to their vet where they discovered she had a shattered pelvis and other injuries consistent with being hit by a car. She was in the vet hospital for a few weeks before moving to one of our fosters where she had to take it easy during her recovery/healing. She is now ready for the next step, a forever home. She loves other dogs and would probably be happiest in a home with a dog buddy. Her current hair cut is a bit unflattering but the groomer had to give her a fresh start to even out her coat. She is naturally shaggy.

He adores walks, playing with other dogs, and all people. He enjoys leash walks but can sometimes pull a bit in excitement to meet other dogs. He is potty trained with the use of a crate and loves to go and chill in his crate as well. He comes when called, loves rubs and snuggles and relishes being around his people! He does seem to have some slight vision and hearing impairment. This guy is a great companion for anyone looking for a lifetime of love. Sweet Tanner is about 75% blind and deaf. This does not in any way affect his sweetness! However, he loves to be outside with all the smells and inside he loves to by his dog friends and/or his human. He can sometimes bump into things until he learns where they are and has trouble navigating new sets of stairs. This 15 lb, 3.5 yr old, tan/golden, Lhasa Apso X, came from the Carson Shelter, after another rescue pulled his brother and left him behind. Poor guy has been through hell, as this was his second abandonment after his thoughtless owners dumped them both in the shelter “because they were moving!!” This broke our hearts. I jumped into my car, pulled him out and immediately took him to the groomer and bathed him myself! Once groomed, we came home and he felt soooo much better! Ace is a big cuddler and kisser with his peeps, once he has proven he likes you. Recently, we have learned that he doesn't seem to like other dogs and will lunge with most until he gets to know them. He is BFFs with Jett, but goes after many of our other rescues. He has a ton of energy and likes to jump up on you, so we think he’d be best in a home without young kids or seniors, especially with his need for training. We have found he is partial to female dogs and loves to play but seems to be challenged by male dogs. He does not like being left alone, so he might be best with a female -- perhaps a bit bigger than he is -- one who is submissive and won't challenge him. OR as your companion where he is rarely left alone. We know nobody is home 24/7! He's fine with some dogs (unless he's in a mood), but when you are around he doesn’t like them usurping his glory! He wants all your love!! He'd be happy as your one and only if you have time to give him oodles and oodles of love and attention. This boy is a great eater and isn't fussy. He is very playful with his two female roomies and with his foster mom. He is pretty quiet, even when left alone he settles down. Ace would be a fantastic companion for a runner, hiker, active person who loves to enjoy the outdoors. He walks extremely well on a leash and does his business shortly after the walk begins! That being said, if he can't get out and has to go...he will use a pp pad. So far, we haven't seen him lift his leg, but no guarantees at your house! This adorable 12 lb, 2yr-old, tri-colored, Lhasa Shih Tzu mix came from the Harbor Animal Shelter and he was meant to come to LHH. Another person tried to adopt him after he had been available 10 days and we were on our way to get him. They did not have enough money, and they obviously were not the right home, so we picked him up and brought him directly to our groomer. Picture #4 shows you how matted this poor baby was, and in obvious pain. No longer, he is a sweetheart and will fall asleep in your arms while you rub his belly. Dweezil loves everyone. He is kissy, active, extremely playful, loves toys and is a very happy pup! At 12 pounds, he is very underweight and eats like he hasn’t seen food in a month! He is getting plenty of good nourishment at LHH. Dweezil Does not like being left alone, so the best home for him would be one where there is another dog. We are working on his potty training and it’s going very well, but no guarantees at your house. He is potty-pad trained. Dweezil just arrived, so we are still learning more about him. This black with tan, 6-7 yr old, 18.5 lb, Lhasa Terrier ?? who doesn’t shed and acts like a puppy, is a doll. Looked like a Lhasa in the shelter (see below) but like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get (under all that hair). She is a little bigger than our average pup, and her breed is a little of a mystery to us, but she is a cutie pie. Just look at her shelter pic (Pic #4) (yes, that is her paw): Midnight came from the Palmdale Shelter a total mess….including foxtails, dog lice and two small mammary tumors. As always, all was addressed at our vet and she is good as new! She is a very active girl, loves to fetch toys…doesn’t always bring them back! She is uber affectionate and gives lots of kisses. One thing, she likes to slip out the door/car behind you, so you need to be careful. As active as she is, when she gets in the car, if she doesn’t have her head out the window, she settles down nicely and seems to love going for rides! Midnight loves her walks and to explore everywhere. If we had to guess her background, she was bred several times and then ignored and maybe even let go on the street. We say this because she will circle garbage containers on walks looking for scraps or anything that will go into her mouth. Her condition (matted to the bone and an old injury to her bottom eyelid) was abusive and had to be painful, yet she has never complained. She will whimper occasionally to get your attention, but it is not intrusive. Midnight’s potty training is pretty good — she will go on a pp pad if she doesn’t go outside or hold it — but no guarantees at your house. She acts like a young dog, loves to zoom around and rearrange things (will make you a better housekeeper) but her favorite thing is being with you. As long as you don’t leave her alone all day, she doesn’t need another dog — just wants you! Does she sound like a sweetheart who could steal your heart!? Our website is updated daily. This gorgeous, 17 lb, 2-3 yr old, tan/white Lhasa Apso is the real deal! Unfortunately, in the past he has landed in the wrong place and hasn’t yet found a family that had the time or appreciation to get this wonderful boy training or give him the attention he needs. He is still a puppy in an adult body! And STILL he is very loving, kissy, playful and happy! Rocko is a bit on the wild side — but nothing that some patience, time, training won’t solve. When you are walking him, he likes to run circles around you but we are working on “walk straight” and he responds. He is very smart and wants to please. He is not a biter; he is not aggressive with other dogs or a guarder. He is very demonstrative in showing you he wants to go for a run…or a hike. He ain’t no couch potato…until he has had a busy day playing, going to the park, going on walks and you tire him out. He wants to explore the world, meet and greet anyone on the street and say hello! The best home for Rocko would be one where there is a yard, so that he can exercise and play with you! Kids over 8 yrs old to play with him and a canine companion! His vocal manners are pretty good — we have not heard him bark, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t! AND if you take him out on a regular basis, he is pretty good doing his business outside and will use a pp pad if necessary! But, no guarantees at your house!
