Story
Hi everyone, my name is Lucas, but sometimes my friends call me Leo. I am a great Pyrenees mix born approx 6/6/24.  I was picked up as a stray in Arkansas, and I am about 51 pounds and done growing. In a world of too-big or too-small dogs, I am the perfect size for fun! Big enough to hike, play fetch, and run, small enough to cuddle on your lap on the couch. They think I am somewhere between 11-18 months old, and while I still have some puppy-like energy to burn off, I also know how to calm down and chill.    I love other dogs- on walks, I whine to say hi and ask to play- but most of all I LOVE people. Some might say I love exuberantly, especially on first meeting, where I greet everyone with wagging tail and jumps of excitement- although I have been told I need to work on the jumping thing. After I settle into a routine, I don't jump as much unless we introduce new friends to the mix!   When I want to go outside, I sit like a gentleman at the door. I am fantastic on a leash. I generally like to lead, but I try not to pull, and I will try to match your pace, whether that is slow to be careful of ice or speed walking. I might also make a good running partner, although my current people aren't really runners. I also like to get my business done all in one shot, and don't feel the need to mark every tree and bush. Even though I hale from Arkansas, I sure to love the snow and cold weather.   I love to play, fetch balls, tug on ropes, and chew on my Nylabone. I especially love stuffies- sometimes a little too much, to the point that I start unstuffing them. On occasion, I find non-toy objects in my house and proudly bring them to you- a plastic box, a dryer ball, even a whole roll of toilet paper.   I tend to be a pretty quiet dude. I bark to let you know someone is at the door, and if I see something fun out the window, I may whine a bit. If I need to stay in my crate but I can still hear you around the house, I will whine, cry, and lament the fact that I can't be with you. However, if you leave the house, I tend to be pretty quiet in the crate. I must admit that I can get a little loud when I am playing with my fur brother, especially when he has had enough and I want to keep going. But then my mom gives me a bone, and I quiet down. Speaking of the kennel I can sleep in there all night with no problem, but I would prefer sleeping at the foot of my people's bed. No dog beds required for me, as I have a habit of dismantling them if I get bored (I mean, they ARE just a really big stuffie, right?)   I am told I am smart and treat motivated- and they are right! I can sit and down with the right motivation, and I take treats with a very soft mouth. I am working on leave it and drop it with good progress, but I am a little stumped on stay (I am just too excited and impatient for that at this point.)   Now I should admit to a few negatives; a guy can't be perfect. I have a tendency to check out the kitchen counter to see if you were silly enough to leave something out for me- I mean, thanks for the treat! I also have a problem with chasing the cat. I am not aggressive, I just want to play with them, but the cat doesn't seem to see it that way, and if the cat hides, I instinctively seek so they can't get away.   Hope to meet you really soon!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $525.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 10, 2026, 4:32 pm

Story
Are you looking for a lively personal trainer, a child’s ride-upon horse, fetch master, and a goofball?  Look no further: Travis is your man. Travis is an Anatolian Shepherd/Foxhound mix born approx 12/7/23. He hails from Arkansas and is dripping with Southern charm and charisma. He is the father to the eight adorable puppies recently welcomed by Taylor.      Travis is playful; he plays like it’s his job! What does he play, you might wonder?  Whatever the resident 7, 4, and 2-year-old children are doing.  This could be Cabbage Patch, swinging in the hammock, wrestling, zipping through forts/blanket houses, or classic rock dance parties.      Leash walking?  More like running!  It is improving but Travis does pull.  He’s just so excited to go fast, seeing and smelling everything. Potty trained?  Completely. Kennel-tolerant?  Yes, although he prefers if there is a person or two in his vicinity. Vocalization?  Rarely does a bark or whimper come from Travis.  He has never growled or shown teeth, even when our 2-year-old picked up a handful of kibble from his bowl during meal time.  We are “training” the kids that even a lovebug like Travis needs to be left alone during dinner!    Socialization?  Loves all people and other dogs.  Can occasionally whelp pathetically when kenneled, and we leave the house.  Our 4-year-old says “when he makes that noise he’s showing you he misses his eight puppies!”  Lol. Intelligence?  Travis is unbelievably smart and is quite possibly a mind-reader. Additional training on staying down and leash manners are the only areas this near-perfect dog needs to work on.      Travis would easily fully integrate into any family with young kids.  The adventures he has with little ones are both hilarious and heart-warming.  Travis doesn’t want to simply meet you; he wants us to arrange a play date with you. Cheers!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $300 plus tax Friendly! Not treat motivated  No accidents No separation anxiety  Dwight would do best in an active home (His foster believes a home without younger children smf no other dog would be ideal) Loves to be outside  Goes on errands with his Foster like Home Depot runs and Petco visits One time Dwight saw a mannequin and nuzzled it's hand so it would 'pet' him - Cute!! Dwight would like everyone who sees him to say hi  Dwight is a handsome Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix! He loves dog parks and playing outside, rolling in the grass. He will do well in a fenced property or farm. He is leash trained, muzzle trained, and crate trained, however, the door often remains open. He’s a quick learner. He’s a little over 4 years old and shy of 100 pounds. He knows no, wait, down, paw, gentle, bed, belly, “get it” to eat, and sit with many more things he’s still perfecting. Dwight does get long with other dogs but would perfer to be the only dog in his adoptive home.  He loves the butt scratches but when he is sleeping her prefers to be left alone. He can sometimes be a little protective of his chew bones or food. He doesn’t play fetch but he loves chasing a laser like a cat. He prefers humans to chase him as a way of playing. He came from a home with two adults and should not go to a home with children. He’s used to a more quiet space and doesn’t do very well with loud noises. He did a great job outside watching his previous owner in his work shop. He does a great job being an outside guard dog, that’s definitely the Great Pyrenees in him. He loves to work and play. He has a ton of energy.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.
