Story
Jasper is a gentle giant and the very definition of patience, kindness, and resilience. This sweet boy went into shelter in 2021 and found a loving home, but tragically, he was returned in October 2024 when his beloved adopter fell ill. Despite all the changes in his life, Jasper remains the same gentle soul—calm, loving, and full of quiet wisdom. He’s navigating some vision and hearing loss, and was recently diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. But with the right medication, he’s already improving! What he needs now is a warm, safe place to spend his golden years—a home where he can be cherished for the incredible dog he is. Jasper gets along well with other dogs and moves through the shelter and outdoor areas with ease, winning hearts wherever he goes. He is housetrained (though does thrive on frequent potty breaks due to his Cushing's diagnosis) We just need the right person to see what we see—a dog who deserves love, comfort, and a family to call his own. Jasper is SO ready to bring so much love into a home. Jasper is 9 years old and 81 lbs. fostered in Rockville, MD please apply at mirishaven.org

Story
Meet Sophie! Not to be confused with a polar bear, Sophie has had a few hard years but those days are finally behind her now that she’s a Miri’s gal. This gentle Pyrenees mix came to the shelter in rough shape with her fur tangled and dirty. But through it all, she has remained the sweetest, most trusting soul. Now, Sophie is safe in her foster home where she’s already proven to be an absolute gem. She took her much-needed spa day like a champ, standing patiently as the grime of her past life washed away. And in true Sophie fashion, she even let her foster mom balance a little rubber duckie on her head during bath time—because yes, she is that much of a good girl. Sophie has settled in, getting cozy with her foster siblings and soaking up all the love she has missed for so long. She quickly found a favorite spot in the house from which she can monitor all snack activity. It's a hard job but someone's got to do it! Sophie is majestic, regal, and soulful - you can see every bit of her heart on her sweet face. Even though she's a senior, she brings new meaning to the phrase “puppy dog eyes.” We dare you to try to resist them - we sure can't! Can you give this sweet, fluffy bear the soft landing spot she deserves? Sophie is approx 11 years old. Fostered in Waynesboro, PA Please apply to adopt at MirisHaven.org

Story
Captain, oh Captain! Captain is going to be a big boy! If you're a "big dog" person/family - this is the guy for you! He is very affectionate and is not interested in giving you personal space! He is already crate and house trained. He even goes to his crate when he needs a rest. Captain is eager to learn and will be a joy to train to be the perfect gentleman - he is food motivated! Will most likely need some leash work. Love kids! Due to his potential size, he may do better in a home with bigger kids. The adoption fee for this puppy is $475, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. A $250 spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption. This fee covers spay/neuter at one of PetConnect's preferred veterinary partners. If the adopter chooses to use their own veterinarian, the deposit will be returned with proof of sterilization. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system.
