Story
There's cute and then there's Ricky cute. This dog is unbelievably cute. Like, we should invent another word to describe him because cute isn't enough, cute. It almost doesn't matter how I represent him, his little face will melt your heart. But here are his stats: He's about 12 pounds, male, approximately 1 year old, and likely a "Chiweenie" (mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua) Ricky is super friendly and chill. He always wants to be with his people and would do well in most families, though he has not been around very small children yet. He only barks occasionally when he is worried or anxious. For a little dog, he's pretty quiet. Ricky is working on housetraining, we believe as a stray he probably didn't spend much of his life indoors. He's smart and he's catching on. He loves food and is very motivated by treats. Ricky wants to play with the resident cat and will chase him, but the cat is almost double his weight, so it's not exactly a fair match. In time, Rick would get used to a feline sibling. Ricky has traditional dachshund coloring on top and it makes him look like a coon hound shrunk down to about one foot tall. If you like miniatures, Ricky will make your day. He even has a little tiny hound dog bay. His floppy ears get stuck on his head all the time and that is just a sampling of the adorable antics this dog gets up to. Pictures don't really do him justice, you really need to meet him in person, so apply today! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs.
