Story
Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet mama ready for her own family! WEDNESDAY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Wednesday Best Guess for Breed: Lab and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of February 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 40 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them. Currently Living at: Rural shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here! Special adoption considerations: Wednesday is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process. Wednesday is Looking For: Her forever home! This Very Good Girl was nursing six puppies, Wally, Wanda, Whitney, Wren, Wrigley, and Wyatt when she arrived into our care. She raised them to be amazing family pets and they went off to get their own homes. Now Wednesday is eager to get her own humans. Long sniffy walks, romps in parks, trips to new destinations - she wants it all, please! Most of all, she wants to give love and be loved. She promises adoring gazes and happy tail wags and loyal companionship for all her days (not just one day a week). What do you say? Does she get her fresh start with you? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
