Story
Olivia is a very unique 6-year-old Airedale Terrier with a story that deserves to be told—and a future that deserves to be carefully chosen. She came to rescue as an owner surrender after her elderly owner suffered a fall and could no longer meet her needs. But Olivia’s journey began long before that. Originally brought from Europe, Olivia spent years being used strictly as a breeding dog, shipped between multiple states and never given the chance to simply be someone’s beloved companion. It wasn’t until a few years ago, when she landed in a Texas rescue, that her life began to change. She was adopted and transported to the Nashville area, but she had spent most of her life living outdoors with other dogs, with very limited human connection. Because of this, Olivia is just now learning that people can be safe, gentle, and kind. Other dogs have been her greatest teachers. She absolutely loves them, and their presence has helped her slowly build trust and confidence. Watching Olivia blossom has been nothing short of incredible—she is becoming affectionate, playful, and eager for attention. Beneath her cautious exterior is the happy, fun-loving Airedale she was always meant to be. Olivia now knows basic commands, walks beautifully on a leash, and enjoys car rides. She is bright, observant, and deeply sensitive—a dog who forms meaningful bonds once she feels safe. Because Olivia is so special, her needs are very specific. Her forever home must be quiet, include at least one other social and playful dog, and have a fully fenced yard. These requirements are non-negotiable. She also needs an experienced adopter who understands fearful dogs and is willing to move at her pace. Due to her shy nature, a home with no small children is required. Olivia is not a “plug-and-play” dog—but she is a profoundly rewarding one. For the right person, she will be a once-in-a-lifetime companion.
