Story
Meet Wilma, an inspiring survivor whose spirit shines brightly despite her rough start. Found emaciated and tied up in a vacant apartment, Wilma has blossomed into a lively soul, bearing a scar on her chest as a poignant reminder of her journey. She adores playing fetch, expertly bouncing the ball back to your feet, rolling it to you, or even catching it midair with impressive agility. Not only is she an enthusiast of fetch, but Wilma also loves to greet people with a charming handshake, adding a touch of grace to her vibrant personality. Wilma is well-suited for a home with dogs of similar or larger size, or as the only dog where she can soak up all the attention she deserves. Are you the forever companion Wilma has been hoping for?

Story
At just 1-2 years old and tipping the scales at 50 pounds, Soldier was rescued from the streets of San Antonio. He’s now flourishing in a foster home that’s filled with love. Soldier has adapted beautifully to his new surroundings, welcoming every day with enthusiasm and warmth. Known for his loving nature, Soldier enjoys giving cuddles and quickly becomes a favorite with everyone he meets, both humans and fellow dogs alike. Bath time is a breeze with Soldier; just lift him into the tub, and he stays put until he’s squeaky clean. This brave boy is looking for a forever home to continue sharing his love. Are you ready to enlist Soldier into your family brigade?

Story
Are you searching for a super cuddly couch potato? Well, let me stop you right there because you’ve found her! I’m Shauna and I have been waiting for my forever home for 6 years. Yes, you heard me right! Out of all the animals here at the Animal Defense League, I’ve been here the longest. I have unfortunately been overlooked time and time again, but I have so much love to give! At first, I can be a bit scared of new people, but once I open up to you, you’ll see why I am a staff and volunteer favorite around here! My favorite activity is cuddling with my humans, whether it be giving them hugs, receiving belly rubs, snuggling up on their lap, or leaning on them. Like I mentioned before, I am a couch potato at heart and I am perfectly content with chilling out with you on the couch, binge watching your favorite shows. Another one of my favorite things is food! When it comes to becoming my friend, food definitely helps win me over! I am happy to show off my manners in the form of sit and shake to get a treat! So what do you say? Will you give a sweet girl like me the chance that I’ve been waiting on for the last 6 years?

Story
Howdy folks, Provo the spunky lab here, ready to be your new best friend! With my smarts, energy, and big personality, you`ll get the full package when you take me home. Now, I haven`t really experienced the loving embrace of a true home yet. You see, life in the kennel is nice and all, but it`s just not the same as having a real family to call my own. That`s why I`m on the hunt for an experienced dog owner or family that can provide me with the love, patience, and calm environment I need to truly flourish.I`m not just any old dog, you know. I`m a Home Dog or at least I would like to be. And let me tell you, once you take me in, you`ll wonder how you ever got by without me. Whether we`re playing fetch in the park or snuggling up on the couch, I promise to be the best companion you`ve ever had.So what do you say? Are you ready to make me a part of your family and give me the loving home I deserve? If so, then let`s get this show on the road! Love, Provo.

Story
Hi there! My name is Artie and I`m a sweet older dog looking for a peaceful forever home to call my own. Do you like chilling out on the couch but also enjoy exploring the great outdoors? Well I might just be the guy for you because I’m the best mix of both worlds! I am an active pup despite my age. I love zooming around outside and going on walks. Exploring all the trails and parks that San Antonio has to offer with my new family would be a dream come true! Once I’ve gotten my energy out I like to just chill out with my favorite people and receive all the snuggles. One of the many benefits of adopting an older dog is that they are already potty trained, and I’m no different! Staff says I’m super well potty trained! I`m no spring chicken, but I still know a few tricks like sit and speak and will happily show them off for some yummy treats. However, what I really want is a loving home where I can just relax and enjoy the simple things in life. A soft bed to take naps on, walks, and some gentle pets from my favorite humans is all I need to be happy. If you`re looking for a loyal companion to share your peaceful home with, look no further than me, Artie!

Story
I am going to be honest with you; I’m the kind of guy who needs to be wooed. I need some happy talking and some treats and maybe a date out in the dog park to see how we click but once we click? I am the most loyal, silly pup that you will ever meet in your life! I am a big guy who loves getting pet by my person, in fact, I will lean my whole body onto you and just kind of melt like a pancake sometimes! My human friends at the shelter call me a big teddy bear and also tell me I have the puppy dog eyes down pat! I like big comfortable beds, chasing a toy in the yard, and running super fast. I don’t want to brag but I am pretty sure I am the fastest dog in the world. I also like to learn new things so someone who has treats and some patience to teach me would be great! I am told I am very smart. Handsome, smart, and a track star? Pretty sure I am the whole package!
