Story
Meet Mars: A Lovable Terrier Lab Mix Introduction Meet Mars, a charming male Terrier Lab mix who is filled with boundless energy and love. Born on November 12, 2018, Mars currently weighs 55 pounds and is eagerly waiting for a loving family to call his own. Despite his challenging past, Mars remains a sweet, playful, and happy dog. Mars' Journey Mars' story began on a property where he lived with over a dozen other dogs, all caged in runs without doors, which meant they had zero interaction with the outside world. One day, the owners moved away, leaving Mars and three other dogs behind. Fortunately, Mars was rescued from the shelter system and is now looking for his forever home where he can thrive. What to Expect When Adopting Mars Adopting a rescue dog like Mars can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Here are some things you should know and prepare for: Patience is Key Mars has had limited interaction with people and other animals, so it's important to be patient as he adjusts to his new environment. He may need time to learn how to trust and feel secure in his new home. Time for Training While Mars is playful and eager to please, he may need some training to learn basic commands and house manners. Positive reinforcement techniques work best for building a strong bond with him. Socialization Opportunities Providing Mars with plenty of socialization opportunities is crucial. Introduce him gradually to different environments, people, and other animals to help him become a well-rounded dog. Active Lifestyle Mars is a lively and energetic dog who would benefit from an active lifestyle. Regular walks, playtime, and mental stimulation will keep him happy and healthy. Indoor Living Mars has spent his life as an outdoor dog, but we require that he now be an indoor dog exclusively. He deserves the comfort and security of a loving home environment. Owner Responsibilities As a responsible pet owner, you'll play a vital role in Mars' happiness and well-being. Here's what you should consider: Provide a Safe Environment: Ensure your home is safe and secure for Mars, with plenty of space for him to play and relax. Regular Veterinary Care: Keep up with Mars' vaccinations, check-ups, and any necessary medical treatments. Balanced Diet: Feed Mars a nutritious diet suited to his size and activity level to maintain his health. Grooming Needs: Regular grooming, including brushing and bathing, will help keep Mars' coat healthy and shiny. Love and Attention: Most importantly, shower Mars with love and attention. He will surely return the affection tenfold. Additional Insights Mars is currently in a foster home where he is learning basic manners. He has shown adaptability and enjoys hour-long car rides, making him a potential great travel companion. His foster family includes three large dogs, and Mars is gradually getting accustomed to being around them. Although he has had limited exposure to other dogs, he is showing promise in being dog-friendly given time and patience. Mars is known to be good with kids and teens, and he adores all people. Due to his past, he may cower in fear at fast movements, indicating he might have experienced abuse. We are committed to finding Mars the perfect home, willing to drive up to three hours to deliver him to his forever family. Are you ready to welcome this delightful dog into your family? Mars is sure to bring unconditional love and joy into your life. If interested please go to our website and fill out an application. You can find our application under the adoptable dogs icon.
