Story
Up for adoption in Texas: Mocha. Mocha has lots of personality! Just look at how she poses for pictures, she shines and makes funny faces. She is about 7 years old and weighs 47 pounds. Mocha wants nothing more than to find her forever family. Mocha is a beautiful, fluffy, black and white girl, with gorgeous, hazel eyes. She listens well and redirects easily. Mocha would do best in a quiet home without a lot of people coming and going or young children running about. We think she may have some herding dog breed in her and she doesn't like people or kids zipping around her or her yard. Adults and/or adults and older teens would be ideal for Mocha's forever home. She needs a fenced-in backyard. She does best with slow introductions to new people. She likes other dogs but can be a little bossy, so we'd recommend a home where she can be the only dog, or perhaps a home with another chill or submissive dog. (We would require a meet and greet if an adopter has an existing dog.) Mocha is not fond of cats. To set Mocha and her new family up for success she will need continued positive reinforcement training and we can help you find the right trainer and set you both up for success! Mocha is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, housebroken, and crate trained. Apply now at www.luckylabrescue.com!

Story
Shadow says: "Pick me! Pick me! My name is Shadow, and I'm up for adoption in Texas and I keep getting overlooked! I've been waiting for my forever home for more than a year. I'm getting sad." Shadow is about two years old, and he weighs about 50 pounds. He seems OK with cats!! Like a typical young dog, Shadow has lots of energy and loves to play. But he does very well in his crate and can be calm. He'd be a great hiking buddy or possibly running pal. He gets along with most dogs; for some reason, he isn't a fan of one dog he knows. We're not sure why. So if an adopter has another dog, we'd recommend a meet and greet first. Shadow has been non-reactive to cats, though. In fact, we had him cat tested, and we were told, "The cats checked him out from afar, then jumped right down and started rubbing on him. He wasn't so sure about it, but he stayed calm and gave no red flags." Shadow was originally adopted from Lucky Lab when he was a puppy during the pandemic. Several months later, he was returned to the rescue because his owners were busy with their kids and had no time to train him--he was a bit of a wild child. We'd like anyone who adopts Shadow to be an experienced dog owner and continue the positive reinforcement training he's received since he was returned. We think Shadow is very smart and would love the stimulation and attention he receives during training. He'd do best in a home with a fenced-in yard and adults and or adults and kids over 15. Shadow also needs exercise and playtime. Shadow has a lot of love to give, and we'd love for him to find a wonderful forever home. He is very loyal. He's housebroken, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
Up for adoption in Texas: Lacey. Lacey's foster mom says she is an amazing one-to-two-year-old black Lab mix with a personality as big as Texas! She is a happy, go-with-the-flow girl, but two of her greatest pleasures are bird-watching and snuggling. If she could describe a perfect afternoon, it would be lying in the sunshine, watching the birds fly by. When the sun goes down, she loves to hop in the bed with her humans (with some help, which she patiently waits by the side of the bed for) and snuggle. She also believes that sleep is best-experienced upside-down. When Lacey’s foster family isn’t home, she is content in her kennel. She’s such a smart girl that Lacey runs and waits in the kennel when her foster parents grab the sausage treats. She lives with three other female black labs and two human boys (12 and 16) and loves all of them. When out and about, Lacey gets excited and loves to follow her nose, so she could use some practice on recall. Lacey had a hard life before she was saved by Lucky Lab. She suffered a leg injury. Lucky Lab raised money so she could have surgery, and now she's doing well. If you become an approved adopter for Lacey, we can fill you in on all the details and her records. She seems very happy and active now! If you’re looking for a best friend to snuggle with, take long naps with, or explore the great outdoors with, Lacey might be your perfect fit! She is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and housebroken. Apply at http://www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
Up for adoption in Texas: Nestle. This handsome chocolate Lab mix is sweet but even funnier to be around. Nestle’ is 1-2 years old and approximately 70 pounds. He has medium energy but knows how to settle down and hang out on the couch or the bed. He loves to cuddle up with you if you are taking a nap and rest his head on you. Nestle’ does well on car rides but doesn’t like getting into the vehicle. He loves to go on walks and can walk on a tandem lead with his foster brother. Nestle’ is good with large and small dogs. He has been around cats, but he is very interested in cats. He has a great interaction with dog-savvy cats, but he is overly friendly with cats who don’t know how to establish boundaries. Nestle loves his toys but also does a great job of tearing them apart if they are not the Super-Chewer type. He loves to play in the backyard but likes to lie down, sit in the grass, and enjoy the outdoors. He is enamored by squirrels and watches them for as long as you let him do so. Nestle’ makes the funniest faces and wants to be with you as much as possible. He is crate-trained, but it is not his favorite place to be. He is housebroken. Is Nestle’ your next family member? He would love to find his furever family. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and housebroken. Apply at http://www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
Up for adoption in Texas and New England: Archie. Archie is approximately two years old and weighs 70 pounds. He is goofy, funny, and a lovebug. Archie enjoys playing in the backyard, going on walks and loves car rides. In his foster home, Archie loves everyone he meets and is excited to be petted. He is a typical Labby-like dog with lots of energy, and he needs an active family to take him along for the activities. Archie is excited to play with toys but enjoys spending time with his humans even more. He loves to get on the couch or bed with you and cuddle with his head on your shoulder. He gives great hugs. He knows to sit and is pretty good at fetch, but he’s still young and much more interested in running around and playing on his terms—except when going for a walk with his human. He gets so excited smelling, checking out the world, and spending time with his people. Archie is good with large and small dogs, as well as cats, in his foster home. He likes to make it a race to see who can get out the back door faster, but it's only to play and have fun. Archie is crate-trained, but it is not his favorite place to be. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and ready for an active, fun family to spend his forever. Apply for Archie at www.luckylabrescue.com

Available for Adoption in Texas: Mabel! Mabel is a vibrant 6-year-old, weighing in at 60 pounds. She’s not just beautiful; she’s always camera-ready, with a smile that will light up your day. If you’re looking for a photogenic pup, Mabel is your girl – she’s a total ham! With her big personality and energetic spirit, Mabel loves to be part of the action. She enjoys the company of other dogs but would prefer not to feel confined by gates or crates when they’re nearby. While we’re not sure how she would be around cats, she hasn’t shown much interest when passing by them on walks. Mabel is eager to please, especially when there are treats involved, making her a great candidate for continued positive reinforcement training with an experienced owner. She’d do best in a home with adults or families with older teens. House-trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed, Mabel is all set for her forever home. Story
Looking for a classic, goofy husky who's non-destructive and quiet when left alone? Neo might be your perfect match! This big, lovable guy needs a home that understands the husky breed and can meet his needs around energy, anxiety, and boundaries. As a true working dog, Neo needs daily exercise-he'd love to be walked at least twice a day to burn off all that husky energy, and he absolutely *loves* fetch! Like many huskies, Neo can be a bit mouthy when he's excited or playing, so he'll need someone to help him channel that into a toy, especially during playtime. With enough exercise, Neo will happily snooze the day away. His ideal home would be low-traffic, with limited visitors and possibly a well-matched dog friend to keep him company. Neo's recent sleepover experience showed what a great apartment dog he can be. His sitter, who works full-time, left him alone for about four hours in the morning and afternoon with a midday break. Neo surprised her by being the perfect guest: he slept most of the day, quietly entertained himself, and even watched cartoons like *Bluey!* Although he isn't crate-trained, he's non-destructive and calm, so you can leave him worry-free (just walk him before you go). Though he's a little wary of new people and may feel anxious around strangers in his space, a slow approach and a quiet spot to retreat to help him relax. With a bit of time, Neo is sure to settle right in and feel comfortable enough to sleep nearby. Neo's goofiness and sweet nature are bound to win you over! After over a year in the shelter, he's ready to cuddle up with someone who can offer him the safe, loving home he deserves. A secure yard for fetch would be his dream come true! Neo will keep you laughing and fill your home with his charming, gentle personality.

Story
Walker is a goofy and silly senior with an unmatched love for stuffies! This low energy boy is happy to spend his days napping, looking out the window for the postal carrier, and rolling in the grass. Equally happy entertaining himself alone or hanging out with his people, Walker has no issues being left alone all day to free roam. Fully housetrained and with no anxious or destructive behaviors, he's ready to slide into your life with ease! Even though he's content resting most of the time, he's super excited to show off his stuffy collection! Ask Walker, "Where's your stuffie? and watch as he runs to pick one from his pile and brings it over to show it off, hoping you'll try to take it (but really hoping you'll let him win!). Despite his playful growls and loud, excitable barking welcoming you home, Walker is quite gentle, especially when it comes to taking treats, which he takes very delicately using his tiny front teeth. He's also happy to earn treats by showing off his skills with sitting and shaking. Walker has mild arthritis in his back which is managed with daily medication that he takes without protest. Because of his back pain, it's important that everyone in the household respect his space when he's having bad pain days. No children for this distinguished gentleman, but he gets along well with other dogs who can respect his occasional need for space. Walker is happy to do a meet and greet to find out if he'll get along with any dogs you may currently have. If you're looking for an easy and affectionate companion, look no further than this handsome boy! You can find more photos and funny stories about Walker on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100095288003213

Introducing Ethan, a resilient and charismatic pup who has an incredible zest for life! Despite facing challenges, Ethan's positive attitude and eagerness to explore will melt your heart. This special boy is not only eager to play and please, but he's also a quick learner, always striving to make you happy. Ethan's days are filled with curiosity and excitement. He loves going for walks, where he can soak in all the sights and smells of the world around him. One of his favorite pastimes is following his foster brother Charlie, a Great Pyrenees, on "perimeter checks" around the property, showing off his inquisitive nature. This brave pup has a heart of gold and a loving spirit. He's always ready to shower you with affection, and his "ninja kisses" are sure to bring a smile to your face. Despite his mobility challenges, Ethan is a determined little guy who's always up for a new adventure. In the home, Ethan is a well-behaved companion. He's not interested in chewing on furniture or causing any trouble. He's content to curl up at your feet or settle down on his comfy bed. He's also proven to be polite and respectful, never begging for food and always willing to accept your affection. Ethan's ideal home would be one where he can be part of a loving family that has some flexibility to accommodate his needs. A home with another dog or two would be wonderful, and he's shown he can get along well with cats. Walks and outdoor exploration will be key to keeping him happy and healthy. This special boy is looking for a forever family who will cherish him for the incredible soul he is. If you're ready to open your heart to Ethan and provide him with the love and care he deserves, you'll be rewarded with a loyal, affectionate, and endlessly joyful companion. Embrace Ethan, and be prepared for a lifetime of love and unforgettable moments!

Story
This gorgeous black labby boy is Momo! Momo is an adult dog who came to Austin Pets Alive with an injured paw. Our teams cared for Momo while navigating his medical needs, and ultimately the choice was made to amputate his wonky leg. Momo has never looked or felt better! Now that he's nicely recovered, his ideal home would a nice human or two and, most importantly, plenty of fetch. Momo loves the 2-toy game that way he always has a spare, and of course there will be plenty of snuggles in his future home. Momo is open to a doggy sibling if the vibe is right, as he's been maintaining his canine social skills with some of our rockstars in playgroup. Momo would also be open to an older kid sibling or roommate type of family, just so long as everyone is clear that there will be toy and snuggle times. Momo could also just use a break from his shelter apt (kennel). So please consider taking him home for a sleepover to get to know him better, and to help us freshen up his profile. If you read this far, he already caught your eye right? Don't let this beautiful tri-pawded boi be another BBB (Big Black Blocky) dog waiting too long to get noticed at the shelter. #blackdogsrock Talk with a Matchmaker about Momo today!

You will probably see her head or butt sticking out from somewhere more than you'll see the full Sicily! Sicily has a permanent wink but a full view of the love she has in her foster home and is ready see that view in her forever home. She cant wait for someone to reach out about her and start the journey of getting to know them. Sicily does very well being left alone, won't go potty in the home and is not destructive if left to free roam. She is also crate trained and enjoys hanging out in her crate to take a nap or chew on her toys. This girl does prefer to be the only dog in the home but we are also open to chatting about her living with an animal buddy. Story
Floyd came from a terrible place. He was abandoned in a horrible feces-filled filthy house and waiting to be used as a bait dog in a highly crime-ridden area. The neighbors could hear Dino and Floyd both screaming in the night. Floyd is totally coming around and so happy to be in a safe place. He is in sanctuary and will be considered for adoption by a caring individual who is familiar with special needs animals who've survived abusive situations. Floyd is a very dignified elder gentleman. He is a deep deep auburn color we think part Chesapeake Bay Retriever mixed with Irish Setter and a little Queensland cattle dog which explains Floyd's apartment-sized weight and measurements. He's already crate-trained and settling in...very gentle and people friendly. Please give us a call if you are interested in meeting Floyd.
