Carly is house-trained, crate-trained, and has a gentle, affectionate personality that makes her a joy to be around. She’s great with kids and other dogs, and she’s slowly learning how to play and interact with her furry foster siblings. Story
Aster is almost 10 months old! We think she's a black Lab/Terrier mix, but the breed mix is 100% guesswork on our part. Aster has THE BEST ears ever. She's a smart, sweet girl that has normal puppy energy. She would be so excited to find her forever home with another playful dog her size so they can have long wrestling sessions and wear each other out! She loves to take walks or hikes and explore all the things along the trail. She does well on leash and wants to use a harness on her walks because it's a great fashion accessory (and helps with learning leash manners). She absolutely loves going to the lake. She doesn't swim, but she splashes around paw-deep in the water like it's the coolest thing ever! Aster's most favorite thing is chasing flying insects, and she has plenty to choose from with all the Cicadas and June Bugs flying around this year. She likes to play fetch and tug with durable toys; the soft stuffed ones only last about 5 minutes! Aster is a little shy when you first meet her but if you toss down a good treat you can be her BFF within a few short minutes. She warms up to women quickly, but will take a little longer with men. Small children make her very nervous, so no kids under the age of 10. She is housebroken and has learned some basic commands - she sits like a champ, absolutely LOVES to chase balls and brings them right back to you and drops them at your feet. She is a smart cookie and will be a fun and loyal companion for the right adopter. The first step to meeting Aster is to submit your application, and one of our adoption counselors will contact you.

Story
Shadow is Loyal, Sweet, and Eager to Please. She is a lab mix with soulful eyes and a quiet strength. She and her sister Honey were found at a lake house, likely abandoned in a rural dumping area. Though initially shy, Shadow&#39s loyalty shines once she feels safe. Shadow and Honey are available for adoption as a pair or individually. Shadow follows the lead of others, gaining confidence as she warms up, which usually happens quickly, approaching with a wagging tail and lowered head. She is sweet-natured and well-mannered, especially for a young dog who&#39s lived outdoors. She&#39s accepted leashes, collars, car rides, and even wound care without hesitation. She&#39s friendly with other dogs and has bonded easily with both family and neighborhood pups. While she hasn&#39t been tested with kids or other animals, her gentle disposition suggests she&#39d do well. Shadow is spayed, vaccinated, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. She&#39s in good health and has handled vet visits like a champ. Shadow is affectionate, loyal, and ready to find a forever home where she can feel safe and loved. She thrives with companionship and would do especially well with another dog--or with Honey by her side. If you feel your home might be the right place for such a great dog - the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you promptly to tell you more and to arrange a time to meet! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Shadow is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.November 26, 2025, 11:46 am

Story
Honey is Brave, Gentle, and Full of Heart She is a lab mix with a golden spirit and a heart as sweet as her name. She and her sister Shadow appeared at a lake house over the July 4th weekend, likely abandoned in a known dumping area. Despite her rough start, Honey has shown remarkable resilience and tenderness. Shadow and Honey are available for adoption as a pair or individually. Honey is the braver of the pair, often leading the way with cautious curiosity. She warms up quickly, greeting new people with a wagging tail and gentle demeanor. She&#39s well-behaved for a pup who&#39s lived outdoors--eager to please and responsive to guidance. She accepts leashes, collars, car rides, and even wound care with ease. Honey gets along well with other dogs and has made fast friends with both family and neighborhood pups. She hasn&#39t been tested with kids or other animals, but her gentle nature suggests she&#39d adapt well.
