Kriss Kross is a remarkable lab rescue mix who found his way to Friends of Dogs in July 2023. When he was found as a stray, he was in dire need of care. He had a thin scar around his neck from being tied up, a sore back ankle, and infected ears. Additionally, his eyes are slightly crossed, possibly due to past trauma. Friends of Dogs rescued Kriss Kross not out of pity, but because of his sweet and happy disposition. He has a kind heart, and it was clear to the rescuers that he deserved a chance at a good life. His foster mom took Kriss Kross to the vet for a thorough assessment. He is approximately three years old, weighs 43 pounds, and is heartworm negative. The vet suspects that Kriss Kross may have experienced head trauma, affecting his brain and causing his eyes to cross. His sore ankle is likely the result of a previous injury, which may have caused it to grow incorrectly. Despite this, he doesn't appear to be in pain and has a distinctive, endearing hop when he walks. Kriss Kross has been thriving in a safe and nurturing environment, something he has never experienced before. He has been neutered and is now ready for the next step in his journey. Kriss Kross needs a special home where he can continue to receive the love and care he deserves. Kriss Kross's greatest joy is to be with people. Our teenagers get along great with her, and she has shown herself to be wonderful with other dogs, both big and small. We don't have any cats, so we're not sure how she would do with feline friends. Once she feels comfortable, she reveals her true character-a playful, laid-back dog who loves to gather and keep soft, squishy toys in her crate. We got a call that 13 puppies and two moms were at risk of being brutally killed on a property in San Diego, Texas. They were reportedly dumped on a ranch and were killing the chickens. Thankfully we found two rescue to take the babies and one mom, but Nana still needs a home! She is very timid which makes sense considering her background. She’s learning it’s okay to go in the house and that humans aren’t so scary. Nana loves a good belly rub and will immediately roll over if she knows you’re going to give her one. She has met other dogs (outside of the ones she was rescued with) and doesn’t show any aggression, but she’s cautious and probably hasn’t been around other dogs very much, if at all. I have gotten Bella 5 years ago from a shelter, she is almost 6 now. She is a picture perfect dog that loves cats, dogs, and adores children. She has never harmed a soul besides for birds, rabbits and squirrels as she does have hunting breeds. She does not bark unless there is a threat if they are near the front or back door. She loves to nap, play fetch, smelling every bush possible and cuddling. She is leash trained, only chases squirrels on command, but if she has a lot of energy she does pull a little. She is potty trained and lets you know if she needs to go out. She knows sit, laydown, go to bed, spin, hug, and jump in voice commands and hand gestures. She deserves a family that will love her, bring her on walks or the dog park, car rides, a back yard and unconditional love with cuddling. She has a small fear of her nails being touched but has came a long way with it, she just shakes now but will let you do it but she does get zoomies afterwards. No food/toy aggression either.

Somehow, Barkley got overlooked and is now past the “cute and small puppy” stage. However, he still loves to play with other puppies and run around with toys in his mouth. His home is on the ranchette with several other dog friends; a home with a dog buddy would be best to show him doggie ways and to model joy/things to be excited about – like walks are fun and for sniffing and show him how to do things . He is super smart, listens well, and loves to cuddle on you. He is food and treat motivated, so will be easily trainable; he will need weighted bowl so that he can eat in a way that is he comfortable/familiar with. He likes having a crate/den area easily accessible so he could feel secure. He will need housetraining reinforcement. It is Barkley’s turn to get out of foster care. He really belongs in a loving home, with his forever family. Can you have it in your heart to give him one soon please? Barkley spent a month of training and is a recent graduate of Bobbi Colorado’s Canine Camp. We invested in this training, as we do not wish for him to grow up in a "shelter" environment forever.
