Story
Introducing.... Clooney! This sweet boy was rescued from a high volume shelter as soon as he was added to the euthanasia list after being there since last October. He is SUPER grateful to be out of there and loves everyone he meets. He is young, born around October 2020 and needs a home willing to continue his training. He is an active Flat Coated Retriever mix male who weighs around 55 pounds. He likes to sit in a lap and give hugs - sometimes it is a little too much:) He gets along well with other dogs. He is potty trained and is quickly learning basic obedience commands. Not recommended for homes with small children at this time since he is still learning not to jump up on people and might accidentally knock them over. If you are interested in him, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.November 3, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Hi, I'm Harrison, a very loving and sweet Lab mix.  I was found as a stray and have made it to SCP to help me find my forever home.  I love my people and want to stay close to them.  My favorite thing is being petted and having lots of snuggles on the couch.  At the home of the person who found me, I was with cats in that home, but they weren't very happy with a new dog living in their home, so it probably is dependent on the cat.  I am presently living with multiple other dogs and get along with them, but I can be pretty defensive (barks and snappy) on first meeting a new dog. A few minutes of walking around and sitting quietly near one another makes everything OK, but first introduction has to be managed. I can be an escape artist so I will need a securely fenced yard, a 6-7 foot fence and a gate that I can't open.  I'm house trained and have free roam on the house.  I do eat in my crate and will sometimes go into it to chill but pretty much I just want to be near my people or in my favorite chair.  No kids at my foster home but I've been friendly with all the kids I've met so far.  I'm pretty good on a leash, but will pull if I get distracted by a squirrel or other critter.  My dream home would be with an active family who will take me on long walks or hikes, but when not out getting exercise, I'm happy just being part of the family either with or without another doggie friend.  My foster says I'm such a good boy, my new family will be very lucky to have me as part of the family. If you are interested in me, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! Story
Hi, my name is Woodstock! My sister, Lucy, and I are looking for our new forever homes. I'm still young, estimated DOB 6/1/2024 and probably have some Lab and Staffy in my ancestry. I'm learning so much at my foster home with other dogs and I love everyone. No kids at my foster home but I'd probably do OK with them if they can put up with my puppy antics. I love to be held and petted, give kisses, and play until I drop. I'm just a puppy and can get into a lot of trouble so you'll need to be willing to give me lots of gentle guidance, so I can learn all those big dog things, like how to behave in a house, what a crate is for, how to walk on a leash without pulling, and all those verbal commands every dog should know. I may even treat people like I treat my sibling with rough play or decide that a new pair of shoes or a table leg would make a great chew toy, so a lot of appropriate toys should be in my future. The good news is that with the right training and LOTS of love, I'll be the best addition to your family ever and your best bud. If you are interested in me, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to SCP for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Petco in Clear Lake at 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday! Story
Hi there! I'm Charlie Brown, your new best friend in waiting. I'm a young, energetic, and fun-loving pup with a heart of gold and a tail that never stops wagging. I'm incredibly affectionate and friendly and love nothing more than being around my human friends. They say I'm very smart and funny, but I'll let you be the judge of that. I'm always up for a game of fetch or a nice walk in the park. I love to play and run around, but I'm also more than happy to snuggle up next to you on the couch for a nice movie night. I'm good with other dogs but I love my human friends. My foster doesn't have any kids or cats, so not sure how I'll do around them, but with the proper introduction and a little time, I'm sure I could enjoy some active two and four-legged friends too. I am a young pup, so I am looking for a forever home that can give me lots of love, attention, and plenty of playtime.  If you're looking for a funny, cute, and loyal companion, look no further than me, Charlie Brown! I can't wait to meet you and start our new adventure together. If you are interested in Charlie, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! Story
Meet Little Bit Little Bit What a mess! Are you looking for a dog who always wants to be near you? Do you want a dog who LOVES car rides and walking through the woods or just down the street? Want somebody to follow you into the bathroom and guard your feet while you do your business? Well…meet Little Bit (LB for short). She is approximately 16 months old but one look into those deep, sweet, expressive eyes anyone can tell she has a very old soul. Little Bit had a rough start to life – hit (or thrown from – there is still some debate) by a car and left in a field off the freeway, Little Bit had a long, hard fight to survive along with several months of PT just to walk again. She’s still a little stiff in the backend sometimes (especially when she first wakes up in the morning), but you couldn’t tell it watching her chasing her big brother (Goose) around the yard like the big dog she is in her heart. Because of all her injuries (more stitches than dog when she came into foster care, hence the name: she was a little bit of dog with a whole lot of hurt), her basic training has been delayed but she is trainable (it might just take a little longer than most dogs – food motivation and shear repetition are her friends) and such a sweet little wiggle worm diva. She can be your very best companion while at the same time being your biggest nuisance: she has that skill. She gets along with everyone (never met a stranger), flittering around to make sure everyone in the house knows she’s there and requiring full attention, but will still bark when she hears something outside that just doesn’t sound right. Fully vaccinated, spayed, housebroken (once you learn her signals – she will literally climb on top of someone to let them know she has to go out), and a mild case of heartworms (currently in treatment), Little Bit is ready to move on to a family who will love her and cherish her for the little princess that she believes herself to be! Note: The above bio on the dog reflects the behavior we have observed in the dog's foster home. We provide adopters current information on our dogs; we cannot guarantee they will behave in the same manner in a different environment with new owners. Since they are rescue dogs we guess breed of looks. Our adoption fees vary, according to species, size, age and other issues. Discounts apply in some cases. Our adoption fee covers dewormed, heartworm tested (if over 6 months), started on heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, vaccinated for bordetella, dhppv, rabies (if age appropriate) and microchipped as well as spay/neuter at our preapproved vets. All puppies not altered due to age will under a foster to adopt contract until completed and an additional deposit of $100 will be required- deposit will be refunded upon completion of surgery. We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who understand- these are rescue dogs, they will need time to decompress, routine and stability. We put our lives into saving these dogs- we expect their new families to be prepared for a lifetime commitment before applying- dogs are not recyclable. Please do not send an email inquiring about a dog. Please fill out the adoption application found at https://www.rangersreach.org/ We are 100% volunteer ran we try as hard as we can to get through applications as fast as possible. If we spend all our time answering inquires and emails, we have no time to look over applications. Please do not apply until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. We do not hold dogs for any reason. We do try to be fair and go in the order applications are received. If no response, decision or adoption is made we must move on to the next application. Applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will receive that dog. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE HAVE NO BRICK AND MORTAR LOCATION-- WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE, ALL DOGS ARE IN PRIVATE FOSTER HOMES. If we if we think your home might be a good fit, we will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application. We do check references, use social media, been verified, do phone interview/emails, and home check will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.

Story
The Way Back: Tessa's Story Gulf Coast Tiny Paws Rescue Tessa's way back began in Oct.2021. Her cruelty case worked its way through the court system and an area shelter was awarded custody of the three-year-old lab mix and her four puppies. It was evident Tessa's rehabilitation could not be done in a shelter environment. GCTPR was contacted and agreed to take Tessa into their rescue. Seasoned dog foster Stacy willingly took Tessa and the puppies into her home to begin to help the little family. When she first arrived in her foster home, Tessa was so frightened she wouldn't even sit when Stacy was nearby. It took Tessa four months to gather enough courage to venture out of the room in which she and her pups were fostered. But good things began happening along the way. She became a playful friend to the family's resident dogs, even sleeping with them! At times Tessa shows a bit of a silly side, showing a newfound confidence. Tessa loves to chase butterflies and geckos in the backyard. Tessa is potty trained, learning to walk using a Gentle Leader head harness, and has learned to stop barking on command! She is food motivated which is useful in many training situations. Learning house rules through the use of positive reinforcement has shown Tessa can learn and her confidence grows as she catches on to each new lesson. Not unexpectantly, it takes time for Tessa to warm up to strangers. Tessa will need an experienced adopter. She needs someone who understands training using only positive reinforcement techniques. Tessa also needs someone who is consistent and kind in their behavior towards Tessa and their handling of her. Tessa has made great strides finding her way back. Can you commit to helping Tessa into a home of her own with you/your family as her loving, trusted people? #adopttessa If you are interested in adopting Tessa, go to www.gulfcoasttinypawsrescue.org. An adoption counselor will be in touch

Hi!  My name is Henry, and I’m a dog (no surprise), a bird dog.  I know that because my DNA says I’m Chesapeake Bay Retriever and German Shorthaired Pointer.   I haven’t had any bird dog training, but I’m really good at retrieving stuffed animals and in true bird dog form, I don’t tear them up.  They are gently held in my mouth.  I’ve had a bit of basic training and I look forward to a refresher class as well as some new challenges.  All of us bird dogs are over achievers you know!  As I’m a social dude, I get along great with other dogs. My dream family would like to take walks and explore, have a big yard, and have lot’s of love to share with me. ##2202335##
