Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: Average Joe was born into rescue in 3/2016. He returned to rescue in 2018 . Reason for being in rescue: Average Joe was born into rescue. He returned to rescue in 2018 due to medical and behavioral issues. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Joe is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. In February 2022, Joe was treated by UGA's orthopedic practice for a rupture of his right cranial cruciate ligament with the tibial plateau leveling osteotomy procedure. Full medical records will be provided. Joe is a different dog post-surgery. It is amazing the physical and behavioral difference when a dog is not living in chronic pain! Joe is taking cbd oil daily to help with separation anxiety - he simply wants to be with his people all the time! Weight:  64 lbs Height:  20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but he would enjoy one. He could go with or without a fence and be just happy! What kind of home would be best for me?  Joe is looking for a home that has a family home more than they are away or a home that can take him everywhere they go. Joe does have some separation anxiety but does well in a crate when it’s time for his humans to leave. He can be loud in the crate when another dog passes, he’s simply overwhelmed easy. Due to this Joe would not be appropriate for an apartment. Joe is good with dogs of all sizes, as any person, Joe does on occasion have a dog or two he doesn’t like and that’s just fine. Joe met our cat with no issues. Joe would do fine in a home with older mannered kids. Joe is ideal for retirees looking for a dog to take on strolls and enjoy the loyalty of a lab mix for all of his days. What is my personality like? Average Joe is not very average. He loves his person with his entire heart, his person makes the world go around. Joe is clingy and sticks with his person, he does understand boundaries when they are needed! Joe knows how to walk on a leash, he knows sit and he knows down. That is the extent of his training but it’s plenty enough for such a well mannered dog. Joe will sit by his person off leash and be just content. Joe really hates to he left alone, it stresses him to no end. His person will always have to go outside with him and be present with him. Joe does well with daily cbd oil to help calm his anxiety. There aren’t enough words to describe how proud Joe has made his caregivers in the last year. Dogs living in chronic pain are similar to humans - they don't engage much, they can be selective about who they want to be with and when, and they are not as active as one that feels well. With medical care to address his chronic pain, Joe has improved with his dog skills, done phenomenal with crate training, and just overall became a more confident dog. Joe is phenomenal and he is definitely worth meeting in person! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and happy!! Other tips and tidbits: Average Joe's birthday is 04/05/2016 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.   Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm

Do you think he was looking for a job maybe?  As he was microchipped, his original owner, now living in Arizona, was contacted.  She rescued him as a puppy and had him vetted and found a home but sadly has lost track with the owner.  So Maxwell is now looking for a new home. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs?  None noted except a real desire to be loved and cared for Weight: 65 lbs est Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Maxwell loves to explore! He is looking for an  active family that wants to include him in their adventures. He has done well with dogs, large  and small, here at the rescue. He could be an only dog but would do well with another dog to pal around with. An experienced dog owner that’s home more than away would be best for this  active explorer.  What is my personality like? Maxwell is a typical gregarious, happy, laid back labrador retriever.  Maxwell has been very calm with people and dogs. He gets along well with everything.  He is eager to get out of the kennel and explore - we suspect this is how he ended up getting away from his home. Maxwell gets very excited about vehicles. He’s ready to load up and go!  Maxwell is a energetic happy boy that is looking for a running partner. He loves to run and boy is he good at it. He would enjoy it if his human companion shared his interest in running or hiking. He sleeps in a crate here at the rescue and does well with keeping it clean. It’s recommended he have one in the home as he does enjoy having a place to retreat to for a mid day nap. He has several buddies he loves to romp around with and would enjoy dog parks or going to doggy day care once he adjust to his new family and environment. Maxwell could also have another large dog in the home to play with but it is not a requirement. He is a little shy when you first meet him but warms up quickly with some treats! This boy is highly food motivated and would do great with positive reinforcement training. He enjoys puzzle toys and lick mats as well. Maxwell is such a sweetheart once you get to know him. How do I act when I first meet new people?  Maxwell has been calm and welcoming to every person that he’s met. He can be timid at first, but warms up very quickly with treats. Other tips and tidbits: Maxwell is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 09/29/2018. House trained? Laura Nelly is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 32 lbs Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? Yes, Laura needs a big yard to run around and play in! She requires a physically fenced-in yard of 4 feet or higher to give her an additional room for playtime! What kind of home would be best for me? Laura Nelly yearns for wide open fields and long nature trails. Some might call her a trail blazer, and we think that is as fitting as it gets! Laura wants nothing more than to be your shadow on long hikes in the mountains, or jogs around the city. Laura craves an outlet for her adventure seeking side, or rather personality. She is always on the hunt for her next adventure. She simply wants to go, go, go! She is an athlete at best - always on to the next best exercise, or workout routine. Laura needs a family that is on the go as much as she is and can run with her even on the rainy days. She loves a game of fetch and will even bring the ball back to you. She will sit, if somewhat impatiently and wait for you to throw the ball again. Frequent hikes sound like a blast to Laura, long games of fetch in the backyard sound like the best way to spend the late afternoon. Laura wants a furry friend or two in the home to play with! She loves her doggy friends and they can keep up with her as best as the next! On those days where fetch might just be out of the picture Laura would want a furry companion to hang out with. Her ideal dog friends are big dogs that love to roughhouse. The bigger the better and the more they wrestle the happier she is! What is my personality like? Found as an emaciated, balding stray, Laura Nelly has truly blossomed at CPR. Gone are the sad, hungry, itchy days. With a new healthy life has come a whole personality! Laura is happy, to be alive, to be involved! She is simply a happy pup ready for her next big adventure. Laura has so much happiness in her little body sometimes it's hard to control it. Laura has a lot to offer you and sometimes she only knows how to show case it with love nibbles. We are working on discouraging this behavior by ignoring her silly little antics. She is a fast learner and is catching on quickly. She understands she must sit or calm down for attention, but sometimes it's just SO hard! Laura is incredibly affectionate and loves to be snuggled up against you. She is very much a lover, if a little overly enthusiastic! Life with Laura is a wild ride, and if you are looking for a furry trail blazing friend Laura is kicking up the dirt to get to you! How do I act when I first meet new people? Laura Nelly LOVES people and as previously stated sometimes her excitement is hard to control. She does her best to sit beside or in front of you, as wiggly as she can and wait for attention, but sometimes it's just too much and she finds herself a tad restless. In these moments she will jump up on you, but just as with her love bites we are working on teaching her that waiting is Oh so worth it! Laura loves to sit in your lap and soak up all the affection you have to offer her, and as long as you are willing to have her there that is were she will be. She deeply wants a strong connection with someone and wears her heart on her sleeve in hopes someone will hold it gently. Other Tips and Tidbits: Laura Nelly was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition, our veterinary partner estimated her around a year old when she arrived in rescue. We celebrate Laura Nelly's birth date as 1/20/2023. House trained? Story
We adopted Spock from the Humane Society. He is a very sweet dog who enjoys cuddling and giving kisses. He has a lot of fears so he would benefit from a calm environment. His crate is his safe place. He loves to play with toys and gets along well with other dogs. He still has accidents in the house on occasion. We are moving to a new house soon and just don't have room for 4 medium/large dogs!

These pups are in Spartanburg, South Carolina too!

Story
Turbo is a big dog with a bigger personality. Turbo likes his live a certain way, which is mainly a ball to play with, a person to be with, and a nice bed to lay on. He is tolerant of other dogs, and can definitely go to a house with the right fur siblings, but he is more interested in living the calm life. His size really doesn’t match his temperament, as he is one of the calmest dogs at the shelter. It won’t take him long to catch on to your home routine, and once he has it down, your day to day life with Turbo should be very easy. He prefers calmer dogs around his size, and no small kids or animals. He is a dog that won’t change your lifestyle very much once you take him home!

Story
Hello! I’m Saint, a Retriever mixed breed dog. I have been described as friendly, loving, protective, adventurous, and doting. Some of my favorite things to do are bury treats and mark my territory on walks. I’m not a huge fan of toys or treats, but I love playing with people! I know the commands sit and leave it. I would like to learn more commands too! My ideal home would have dogs that are on the more gentle and dainty side because I`m just learning how to play. I`m a little shy when it comes to meeting news dogs, but I warm up quickly. I would love to go on a couple walks or runs a day too! I look forward to meeting you soon!
