Story
One day, Edgar wandered down the road of one of our southern rescue partners. It was his lucky day! He was extremely thin and hesitant to come to his would-be rescuer, but food won him over. It took less than 5 minutes to entice him close enough to get a lead on him. He did not resist once the lead was put over his head. He was happy to jump in and ride in the truck to his new life. He has since gained 20 pounds.Edgar is still hesitant to come to freely to humans, and getting a leash on him is still not easy. He is learning to trust, and his foster has learned that he is more willing to come near if he sits and lets Edgar come to him. Once he comes near and the foster can touch him, Edgar doesn’t resist. Edgar is not house-trained yet, but he is kennel-trained. When it’s time to come in, His foster opens the door and stands out of the way. Edgar will run right past his foster to get to his kennel. He looks forward to the snake toy he knows is waiting inside. He gets along great with other dogs. His regular playmate is a female German Shepherd mix. He has not lived with children, and due to his hesitancy with humans, older children over age 12 would be best. He will need a patient family willing to continue to work with Edgar and teach him about living in a home and trusting humans. He is very treat and toy-motivated and has come so far already.ame: EdgarBreed: Labrador Retriever/CrossbreedSex: MaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 70lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  TN   IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Meet Maverick!Maverick is a stunning 7-8 month-old boy who already tips the scales at 65 lbs—and he’s still growing! We haven’t done a DNA test, but his fluffy coat and striking features suggest he might have some Bernese Mountain Dog in his mix. This big, gentle pup started life as a stray, found behind a grocery store as a baby. His finder cared for him for a while, but as it became clear how large he was destined to be, she turned to a rural shelter outside of Memphis for help. Thankfully, Tipton County Paws & Claws took him in, and now he’s on his way to New England to find his forever home!Maverick is a sweet, sensitive soul. He can be slightly reserved until he gets to know the people he's with and then shows his calm but shy side, warming up with treats and gentle reassurance. He allows pets and watches attentively as his humans move around, though he’s still working on building confidence, especially with taller people. This gentle giant is looking for a patient and loving home where he can continue to blossom. With his gorgeous looks and tender heart, Maverick will grow into an amazing companion for the right family. Story
Born July 10th, these beautiful pups are as rambunctious and fun as can be! Mom is a pure bred blue lacy and dad is a mix of some sort. We believe they’ll be about 45-60 lbs full grown. The mom is about 40 lbs and a beautiful red color, and the dad is about 70 lbs with long white hair. There are 3 males and 1 female left. The foster said this about them: SUGAR: Sugar is 100% a kissy love bug and a water bug too. She loves going for a dip in the water (full body), playing and digging in the mud in the water hose, and she will even bob and fully submerge her face in the water. She is very playful and will run after the ball and will bring it back on occasion. Sugar likes to stay active and remain busy. She finds joy in playing with sticks, cups, bugs or anything she can find, she especially likes things that make noise. This beautiful, Amber-eyed girl is currently working on crate training and is adjusting well to sleeping in a wire crate at night. GUMBO: Gumbo is the sweetest most affectionate boy. He loves all of the attention all the time and likes to be near people. He is a true social butterfly. Gumbo especially enjoys playtime he enjoys doing all activities including fetch (running after the ball) and playing in the water hose, he loves being brushed and any physical touch. Gumbo, with his dark brown eyes, is very friendly and gets along well with others. He loves to give kisses and is very outgoing personality wise. CHEETO: Cheeto is a stunning, sweet boy, with beautiful amber colored eyes. He loves getting his belly rubbed, however he is currently unsure if he likes to be brushed. He is very alert and always happy to greet you with a wagging tail. He enjoys playing outdoors and running after the ball. He is an all-around type of guy and shares well with other dogs. BISCUIT: This handsome brown eyed guy loves him some human attention and physical touch. He is always eager to greet you with kisses and his tail wagging and loves him some belly rubs. He is very easy-going. Biscuit loves to play with bugs and to run after the ball. At times biscuit can be somewhat a couch potato and on occasion enjoys some alone time away from his siblings. The puppies were born in the home where the parents are located. The parents both have wonderful temperaments, and the puppies have been raised around a 4-year-old and 7-year-old and they do wonderful with the kids. Sugar, Gumbo, Cheese and Biscuit have been raised around kids, other dogs, cats and all types of humans and they do wonderful with everybody. They love to be around people, and they especially love to be held. They are very loyal puppies already and will follow you around and shadow you. They’re very curious and currently love to explore and get into everything they can. These babies love other dogs, all sizes. They love to play and run around the yard and house, following the other dogs everywhere they go. They would thrive with another dog in the home or would do fine without one. Blue lacys are known for their intelligence, activity and alertness. While we do not recommend a low-key household, a medium to high active household would be perfect for them. They’re only tiny puppies learning new things, and as long as they are not trained for certain things, the foster and our team do not see them being high energy. They would love a family that goes on adventures, explores hiking trails, beaches, lakes or just nice walks around the neighborhood. **Super Sweet **Well socialized **Loves to give kisses **Love to be held **Gets along great with young children **No issues with other animals **Playful **Very smart This puppy is posted in a location they’re able to be transported to. All of our animals are located in Texas unless otherwise specified at the top of this bio. We can offer video chats/face times with the puppy of your choosing with an approved adoption application. Transports leave every 1-2 weeks and routes vary with the transports. All of our animals are current on spay/neuter, parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella vaccines, rabies if old enough, credelio plus (flea/tick and heart worm prevention), dewormer, microchipped and a health certificate is issued by a veterinarian prior to travel, giving the puppy a clean bill of health.
