To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: ~ 5 months (as of 12/15/2024) Weight: 15 lbs (as of (12/15/2024) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Sissy, a puppy who's a sweet blend of shy and playful. We are thinking pretty Sissy is a Lab and Dalmatian mix. She might be a bit timid when you first meet her but give her a moment and she'll soon be nuzzling into your side, her tail wagging with pure joy. Sissy's personality is a delightful mix of gentle and goofy. She's the kind of dog who'll surprise you with her smarts, figuring out how to open doors or fetch your slippers. But she's also the kind of dog who'll make you laugh, chasing her own tail or tripping over her own paws. Sissy’s foster mom says she is wicked smart and is already crate trained and coming along nicely with house training and walking on the leash but still needs a bit more practice. She loves everyone she meets but we don’t know how she is with kids but think she will be fine as she so gentle. Basic group training classes is recommended to help her learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you! Sissy is full of love and life, and she's looking for a forever home where she can share all that she has to offer. If you're looking for a loyal friend who'll always be there to brighten your day, Sissy could be the perfect match for you. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.December 21, 2024, 8:42 am

Medical Note:  This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. Story
Scout is just the most perfect puppy! He's so incredibly gentle, loves to be cuddled, very attentive, and highly intelligent. He's at a great age to train.   We were notified by a lady suffering from StageIV cancer that she found Scout in her driveway one early morning. The previous evening there was a noise that sounded like a truck near her house. It was too dark to see, but she believes that Scout was dumped at that moment. We were very happy to accept him into our program. Initially, Scout was very shy, but he has grown to be playful with the other dogs in the program and our volunteers. He loves toys, treats, cuddles, and more treats! lol He is curious about cats, but keeps a respectful distance. We believe he will be fine around cats unattended. We are working with Scout on house training and crate training. He needs a family who is comfortable and patient to continue with his training. Accidents will happen with a dog traveling from such a distance.  Currently he weighs 50 pounds and we project he'll be about 70 pounds at least when he reaches adult hood. He is neutered, microchipped, has had all core vaccinations for puppy distemper/parvo, and a kennel cough vaccine. Scout is currently in Arkansas, but transport is available to New England. His adoption fee is $650.    ##2239184##

Story
Miss Lavendar is as sweet in person as she looks in her pictures. This little princess was found with a litter in a rural Arkansas community. Good Samaritans took the pups in and then contacted our rescue group for assistance in placing the puppies. We had the puppies fully vetted and Miss Lavender is the last one left looking for a hom. Currently, she is on a dog farm in Arkansas, but we do have transport available bi-weekly to Connecticut.  She is fully vetted, rides well in a car, is crate trained, loves other dogs and people. She should do well with cats considering her laid back nature and age. If you are looking for a sweet cuddle bug who is very easy going, she may be an ideal candidate. As with any puppy, there is a period of house training. Since she is crated trained, it makes potty training much easier. The more time given training a dog creates a great bond and a amazing pet for years to come. Leash training has been a breeze for Miss Lavender! She did very well at a recent adoption event with the volunteers, kids, and dogs. Not shy, but reserved. She was happy to lay on the laps of the volunteers. She's NOT  a barker, so apartment/condo living shouldn't be an issue. She currently weighs 25 pounds and will be about 50 pounds full grown.  ##2213704##

Story
Meet Dougie, an adorable 8-month-old Labrador Retriever mix with a heart full of love and joy! Dougie was found as a stray in Arkansas, but he has been thriving in a rescue program for the past several months. Dougie is a healthy pup who has been fully vetted. He is microchipped, neutered, and has received all core vaccinations. A licensed veterinarian has examined him, giving him a clean bill of health. Dougie's playful and joyful nature shines through, especially when he's around other dogs. He loves making new furry friends and enjoys every moment of playtime. One of Dougie's favorite activities is splashing around in water. Whether it's a kiddie pool or a water hose, this water-loving pup is always ready for some aquatic fun. While Dougie is a bundle of joy, he does have a bit of fear when it comes to men. However, with patience and gentle interaction, he's been slowly coming around and making great progress. Currently residing in Arkansas, Dougie is ready to find his forever home in New England. Transport can be arranged for the right home, ensuring Dougie arrives safely and comfortably. Dougie's adoption fee is $350, which covers the cost of transport. If you're looking for a playful, water-loving companion with a big heart, Dougie is the perfect match for you! Adopt Dougie and give him the loving home he deserves! ##2094568##
