CUDDLY LAB MIX AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Say hello to Rex, an affectionate Lab mix ready to snuggle up for the winter with a new forever family. Rex is about 8 years of age and weighs in at a svelte 36 pounds, and really doesn’t take up much room when he’s snuggling with his people. Rex’s foster family says that he’s rather calm and likes to sleep close to his humans (have we mentioned he loves people?). Rex does love company, so we’re looking for a home where he’s not left alone for extended periods of time. Rex walks fairly well on leash with a front clip harness, and has been learning to control his excitement when seeing other dogs on walks. He does get along nicely with the female Corgi at his foster home. Rex is housetrained and does not have high energy demands. It seems a lot of folks these days are looking for puppies, but they’re certainly not for everyone, and adult dogs have a lot to offer. If Rex sounds like the kind of dog you’d like to open your heart and home to, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at www.kikodogrescue.ca. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to us.

Story
Olaf is a 1-year-old male Labrador & Teckel mix. He loves cuddles, having his neck pet and behind his ears scratched, he can ask for several minutes. He fetches his toys (tennis ball, rope, stuffed animals) and brings them back so that you can play with him and likes to tear his stuffed animals apart. He has a lot of energy so loves to run and also loves to be chased. He likes to play with other dogs but being still young, he is learning how not to play too hard (only sometimes). He is a little too curious about cats, but listens when you call his name and it is unknown how he is with children. He knows some basic commands (sit, lay down). He sometimes still nips and tends to jump on people, so needs to continue his training. He is house-trained and does his business outside. He is crate trained but prefers to be left in a closed room when you leave. He is nervous when left alone so a family with someone who is home a lot or with another dog would be ideal. Olaf is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and sterilized and will come with her medical booklet. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!

Story
Boss is a 4-year-old, beautiful Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He is a beautiful boy, very strong and weighs 66Lbs, stands about 21 inches high from floor to top of back. He has the most beautiful amber brown eyes & a short golden tan coat with black and white markings. He is super intelligent, friendly and affectionate, loves to play with other dogs and loves kids. His amazing personality makes him a joy to have around. We believe he would be a wonderful addition to the right home, with a closed yard, another dog to play with and especially kids. He is affectionate & loves to on roll on his back & side and offer his belly when he likes you. He’s also famous for his ‘High Five Paw hello’s’. He will high five your hand if you hold your hand in front of him. He doesn’t bark very often, is very well behaved on walks, not at all reactive to other dogs, people or bikes. When walked daily, he is calm and relaxed indoor and loves to snooze on his bed. He’s a fast learner and listens well! Boss is a gentleman with soft fur, is kind and deserves a family that can give him as much affection as he gives. He is being rehomed because his mum had a fall and broke her hip and can no longer care for him, as he’s quite strong and has a good amount of energy so he would need to be exercised regularly to be the happiest he can be. He’s good with other dogs, tends to be a bit dominant so he needs a dog that will be able to handle his energy and wants to run and play with him. He likes people but loves children. Boss is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and sterilized and will come with his medical booklet. Story
Nala is a beautiful 5 month mixed breed puppy who came all the way from Mexico to find her furever family in Montreal. Unfortunately, the person who adopted her there and brought her here wasn’t able to keep her any longer, because of her landlord, which is why she’s looking for a new home. She is dainty but fearless in play with dogs, great with cats and loves people. She is quite playful and active and could run around the yard playing with her foster dog cousins for hours every day. She loves to delicately put her 2 front paws around your waist & hug you while getting her face massaged. She is fully house broken and has been since she was very young. She is very smart, silly and sweet little girl who will need sweaters and coats in the fall’s & winter’s cold. She can be in a home with children as long as they can respect a dog’s space and give her some time to acclimate. This wonderful girl walks well on leash, is crate trained and would love to be in a home with another dog to play with. She is still growing so we are not sure what her final size will be, but she will be on the lean side, but will get taller. She will need some training in the future as she enters her teen stage, she’s very smart and quick to learn but will need structure and discipline to ensure she keeps her fantastic disposition. Nala is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and sterilized and will come with her medical booklet. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months. We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.FLUFF was born at the Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine, the night after we brought her mom, a pure bred German Shepherd Dog into our care. She was born on 21st September 2024 and has lived with her siblings, her mom and a few other teenage German Shepherd Dogs.   We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. FLUFF was spayed on 25 September, she is current on her vaccinations, although she will require her rabies as she is currently too young for that vaccine. She is microchipped and at the time of her spay surgery weighed 8.80 pounds (the smallest of the litter). We do not know what breed she is mixed with, but can confidently say her mother is a German Shepherd Dog - RHEA and can be seen in the photos. FLUFF is a young pup and so her personality is in the early stages of development and so it will be the family and home environment that dictates how she behaves as she grows up. There is no reason for her to not be great around children of any ages, unless of course the child/ren make her fearful or hurt her. We do not have any age restrictions for families with children, but do expect responsible families in regards to both children and the pup and have 100% supervision when they are together. FLUFF will need a family that has the time and means to care for a pup, which includes training, socialization and explosing her to as many environments as possible, but in a way that she is comfortable, safe and happy. She is going to be a medium/large dog and so an active lifestyle is important as well as a family understanding the mental needs and intelligence of this kind of dog. We are looking for a family that understands she will be teething, she will be going through her "teenage" phase and will be a lot of work. Fluff has an adoption fee of $550 Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.
