Story
Sam has been with the shelter since 2022. During this time Sam has really shown us his personality, and how much he loves his toys. He will happily spend his mornings showing the kennel staff all the toys he was giving the day before, and the stuffed animals seem to really be his favorites. His volunteer friends tell us that Sam is a little shy when he is first meeting new people, but once you take the chance to get to know him, he really shines. Besides his plushies, his favorite activities are playing fetch in the yard and going for long walks. If you are looking for a great playmate for yourself, Sam might fit well into your life! Behavioral Evaluation: Yellow/Blue—14+ Kids, Dog Selective (Multiple Meets), Flight RiskSam is very outgoing once he gets comfortable, he just doesn’t always introduce well to new people, so you may need to go slow to begin with. He likes toys, particularly tennis balls, and is an all-around fun guy. Sam is one that you will want to watch as he seems to be a bit of an escape artist. For more resources to help with at any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDTBureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617

Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): Blue/YellowBlue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.Yellow—May be more shy or skittish/does better in calmer environments.Could he do well with kids? Yes, with children 14 years and older, on a kid-by-kid basis.Could he do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Ike performed well during the assessment, demonstrating cooperative handling throughout. While he did exhibit some sensitivity in his ears due to a previous injury, he engaged positively overall. There was a moment when he stopped eating during shoulder petting; he lifted his head, turned to the right, and displayed a concerned expression, indicating a low level of resource guarding over his food bowl. When on a scent, Ike can pull moderately but is easily redirected. His play style with people is appropriate, although he may startle if your hands move too quickly. He does not know specific behavior cues yet, but he enjoys plush squeaky toys. He responds well to redirection, although louder redirects can cause him to startle.Ike was unfazed by the cane but reacted strongly to the umbrella and the sound of a metal dish dropping, taking time to investigate these items after they were placed down. He greeted a stranger appropriately and with enthusiasm. Once familiar with someone, he may express excitement by jumping and putting his front paws on them. His greeting towards other dogs was appropriate, although a brief moment required a gentle correction due to some inappropriate nibbling.Overall, Ike is an energetic young dog who demonstrates focus and enjoys being affectionate and cuddly once he builds a rapport with someone.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

[The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Wally performed admirably during today`s assessment. He showed a greater interest in his surroundings than in the handlers, indicating his focus on exploring the environment. Wally appears to be on the thinner side, which may explain his motivation to seek out food rather than engage with people. It will be interesting to observe his behavior once he is more satisfied.Regarding cooperative care, he demonstrated exceptional responsiveness and seemed unconcerned about where he was being handled or petted. Wally doesn’t seem to have a particular preference for coexisting or playing with toys alongside humans, but he does enjoy squeaky toys and showed some interest in the rope toy, although he was not attracted to the ball. He demonstrated a good understanding of basic commands such as sit, give up, and come and did not require any redirection during the assessment. He was comfortable with everyday objects, showing no signs of startlement when exposed to items like an umbrella or a metal dish being dropped. Wally greeted a stranger appropriately, although his initial approach could be perceived as slightly overly enthusiastic. His behavior in the kennel was also commendable, as no issues were noted there. Overall, Wally`s friendly demeanor and adaptability are promising.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

[The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Strider is an energetic young boy with a playful personality. He tends to express his affection in exuberant ways, such as jumping and giving cuddly kisses, which can sometimes be surprising. When calm, he truly enjoys being held and cuddled and is comfortable being handled all over his body. It’s essential to allow him a moment to settle if you want to continue grooming activities like brushing or nail clipping, as he can get a bit overexcited.I observed no resource guarding during mealtime; he was receptive to petting while eating. He patiently waits for his bowl and is adaptable to various everyday situations; though he may startle at times, he quickly regains his composure. He tends to pull quite a bit on the leash, so I recommend using a harness and incorporating some loose-leash walking training. Once Strider understands your expectations, he is eager to learn and will happily comply with basic commands. Overall, with the right guidance and training, he has the potential to develop good manners and become a wonderful companion.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
Jackson was about 4 weeks old, covered with mange (never lost his fur) & filled with worms. For 3 months he lived in our shower without crying or barking! He’s able to sense people’s & other animal’s true nature. My senses are not as good as his. I let him go to the wrong person. Our landlord’s daughter had him 6 months & he was mishandled & starved while hunting & eating rabbits. He sought us out and we rescued him a second time. The girl who had him tried to get him back & he refused to let her near him. When she did get a hold of him he refused her efforts to love on him, put him in her truck or have anything at all to do with her. Jackson showed her how he felt. He never growled or snarled or threatened her in any way. Unfortunately we had to move again and we’re not allowed to keep him. Jackson is now 2 yrs old. Please give him a chance to use his inbred abilities to win your heart! He is the sweetest and most loving dog we’ve ever had!!!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Ms. Mustard Seed – A Special Soul Looking for Her Perfect Match! At just 15 months old, Ms. Mustard Seed is a petite (55 lbs.) yellow Labrador with a heart full of love, waiting for the right family to help her bloom. She is a sweet, gentle girl who adores other dogs and finds comfort in their companionship. Unfortunately, where she was living - she missed out on any and all early socialization, which means she is just now learning how to cope in a world that is scary to her, because she’s experienced none of it in her early life. Ms. Mustard Seed is beautifully housebroken and crate trained—her house manners are good – but she is very hard on toys, and will eat your socks, so some management is necessary. While she’s wary of unfamiliar people and will avoid touch, she quietly seeks out your presence, taking treats and staying close, even if she’s not quite ready for cuddles just yet. There isn’t a mean bone in her body—just a little heart working hard to be brave. She needs someone with time, patience, and a kind hand, to help her slowly come out of her shell, and help her to learn that humans can be pretty great. This special girl needs a home with at least one friendly, confident dog close to her age to show her the ropes and help her continue to grow. Because the outside world is still overwhelming for her, a secure, fenced-in yard is a must—a safe space where she can play, explore, and build confidence at her own pace.  This is not your typical lab that loves to go for walks - Ms. Mustard Seed has no leash skills at all, and so slow introductions to walking will be necessary. If you’re looking for a project pup with a heart of gold, a soft spirit, and a lifetime of love to give, Ms. Mustard Seed just might be your perfect match. She needs someone willing to meet her where she is, celebrate her progress, and give her the patient, understanding home she deserves. In return, she’ll reward you with quiet companionship, small victories that feel like big wins, and the joy of watching her blossom. Are you the one to help Ms. Mustard Seed find her confidence and shine? Reach out to learn more about adopting this special girl!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Applications are the first step in the adoption process. Please do not call or email simply to express interest. We are all volunteers and receiving your application saves us time and helps to determine the best match for both people and dogs.  We provide as much information as we currently have on each dog in their description. For questions on the adoption process, including fees, please review the Adoption page. If you have additional questions or are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application someone will be in touch to answer your questions. We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. Story
Beaker is a great middle aged gentlemen that came to us when his family could no longer care for him. At no fault of his own, Beaker found himself in need of a loving home to enjoy the rest of his years. Beaker previously lived with cats and young children, however when it comes to other dogs Beaker is very selective. Beaker seems to prefer female dogs of his size and energy level. A meet and greet at our shelter with any potential canine siblings would be required. Beaker is quite mild mannered, walks nicely on a leash and can be a bit shy at first. Once Beaker warms up to you he loves to play and get the zoomies! Beaker is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. If interested in adopting loveable Beaker please call 570 784- 3669 ext 1 or email vicki@nokillarc.org

Story
Drover is a beautiful neutered 4-6 year old lab/pit mix likely that originally came from San Antonio, Texas. He is housetrained. Current on vaccines! Chill most of the time! Or gets a little playful! He is trained for 'sit', 'down' and 'stay'! He walks well on leash. He is kid friendly and would probably be best with kids that are older because of his size! He is approximately 60 lbs. He was very good at his first adoption event in Tractor Supply Store! If you are interested in meeting or adopting Drover please text Casey at 570-441-0083. Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Blue—12+ Kid by Kid, Dog by DogPeak is a lovely boy eager to get out of his kennel today. Once he knows you, he walks well on a leash and enjoys being handled. Peak has a bubbly and playful personality; he loves to chase and even engages in a bit of tug-of-war. He can sit and wait, although he may be slightly put off by objects he`s never seen. However, with a little introduction and investigation, he settles down quickly. He does not show any tendencies to resource guard; instead, he wags his tail, just waiting for you to interact with him. Peak greeted the dog well during the dog-to-dog greeting. He initially laid down, but when they were about three feet apart, he stood up and approached without any rude behavior, which was excellent. His play was appropriate, and he did well with the other dog. Peak struggles a bit with stranger greetings. He appeared nervous and was unsure of what a stranger wanted from him. He gave a couple of growls and barks to let the person know to hold still while he checked them out. After some sniffing and investigation, he settled and sat right before the person. Although he wasn’t ready for any pets, he was okay with the person observing and talking to him. He may need multiple greetings to warm up to new people, but he has excellent potential for loving companionship. For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

She displays a sweet and submissive demeanor and fairly good leash manners, although she tends to zigzag in front of her handler, making walking in a straight line somewhat challenging. She generally does well in handling, although she can be sensitive about her feet and tail. She shows appropriate interest in her surroundings and people. She is proficient at cues like sit, down, wait, and come, responding positively to redirection once she understands what is being asked of her.Her interactions with people are gentle, although she can become a bit lively at times. While she is still learning how to engage with a variety of toys—primarily focusing on a tennis ball—she enjoys playing both with her handler and independently. She may react subtly to everyday objects, such as those resembling horses, but she quickly recovers.Lil Debbie is friendly and welcoming toward strangers, enthusiastically greeting everyone. While interacting with another dog, she initially approached them a bit assertively but demonstrated an ability to read the tester dog`s signals and appropriately give them space.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT
