Daphne was found with her sister Hayden, emaciated and living in a culvert in a rural and remote part of northern Mississippi in an area known as a dumping ground for dogs. Despite her difficult beginning Daphne is a great dog. She loves other dogs and is great with cats. At the rescue in Mississippi she loved to splash in the plastic swimming pool! She also loves to run in the yard and prance in the leaves. Daphne is currently being fostered in a home with two dogs and a cat in New England and is ready to meet her forever family. Daphne is fully vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped. She doesn’t have a drop of aggression and is housebroken, as soon as she gets outside, she gets right down to business! Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato.
