Story
Ranger is vocal and loves to tell you about his day and then tell you again! He loves to be pet and looks at a gate as a challenge, not a barrier. He can be stubborn and defiant, so a strong Alpha owner is needed or he will take control. He is a powerful puller on leash, so a harness is best. He likes car rides and is crate trained. He is looking for a forever home that has some experience with the food motivated lab and stubborn mastiff. Due to his size and strength, older children are best. He has a great smile, and will show all his teeth when he is happy or nervous. He is up to date with his vaccines, flea and tick treated, microchipped, Heartworm negative and is neutered. His adoption fee is $500. You must be 21 years old to adopt and provide vet and personal references. An application to adopt him can be found on our website www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com. Click on Adopt, then Dogs for Adoption and scroll to the bottom of the page. All applications are reviewed, and if we feel you might be a good fit for him, you will be contacted to arrange a home visit as well as for permission to speak with your vet. Repeated phone calls and emails with not advance your application. We are a volunteer, foster based rescue and there is no opportunity to meet him before an application has been approved. We thankyou for respecting these guidelines.

Story
Pongo / Neutered Male / 6 Months / Lab mix? / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: 13+ / Location: East Garafraxa Meet Pongo (again!) This handsome boy was adopted earlier this year but sadly returned just a month later. Pongo is a truly special pup who needs an equally special home to match. At just 6 months old and 45 lbs, Pongo is full of energy, smarts, and heart. While we were told he might be a Border Collie/Lab mix, we aren’t entirely sure, what we do know is that he won’t get too much bigger and that he’s 100% adorable. Pongo can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people, but he’s been working so hard to overcome this. He even spent several weeks with our friends at stylek9dogtraining, where he learned amazing skills that will set him up for success. His future family will continue his journey with a few follow up classes, already covered in his adoption fee, because consistency is key for this sensitive boy. What makes Pongo amazing: Walks beautifully on leash, calmly and politely (even sitting at stops!) Crate trained & fully housebroken Snuggle king who always wants to be near his people Playful, smart, and food motivated, he learns fast! Loves doggy friends, is good with cats, and would thrive with or without another dog in the home Because of his nervous nature, Pongo would do best with older, dog savvy kids. A yard to run, play, and chase squirrels would be a dream for him. To help him settle in, Pongo will even come with his special “place bed” included in his adoption fee, we want to give him every chance to succeed. Pongo is sweet, loving, and so ready for a family who will understand his past and nurture his bright future. Could that be you? https://forms.gle/gMSrMCVFqQ3fb5gN8

Story
Hi besties,My name is Cider and I am as sweet as my name! I am a very affectionate girl who loves everybody and everything I meet. Dogs? Love them. Cats? Cool! Bunnies? Awwww... so cute! I`m an easy peasy girl with so much love to give. I may weigh 54lbs but I think I`m a lap dog despite that. I love every human I meet so much that I want to jump up and kiss them- so I will need reminders to keep all four feet on the floor. I love to go for walks but I am still learning not to pull on the leash, however I am super eager to please so with a little guidance I will learn in no time! If you need a dash of sweetness added to your life, call my friends at 519-685-1330. :)

Story
Hello! My name is Mikka!I`m a sweet and gentle girl looking for a loving home! I enjoy playing with toys and would love a home where I will get lots play time and outdoor adventures! I do enjoy chew toys, so hopefully my new family is happy to provide me with lots of fun things to chew. I have been in a wonderful foster home for a while now and we`ve learned that I love car rides and I might be a water dog - rain doesn`t scare me and I`m very interested in the bathtub when water starts flowing into it! I am scared of getting into trouble. My foster humans are doing a good job of showing me that I`m a good girl and nothing bad is going to happen, but sadly, likely due to my past, my first reaction is still to cower when I think someone is going to do something scary. I would really benefit from a gentle, kind home where the humans will continue to help me feel safe and build my confidence. I am a snuggly girl who would appreciate humans who enjoy dog cuddles!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers should be fine. No young children given I can be timid.OTHER DOGS: Yes, with a well-matched dog of similar or larger size. I enjoy chasing and running but don`t like rough and tumble puppy energy.CATS: No, given my prey drive.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Yes, if you have some experience with dogs and recognizing nervous body language.FENCED-IN YARD: Applicants with a fully-fenced yard would be preferred given I can be reactive to dogs & wildlife on leash, so a yard gives us a nice break from walks.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings given I can be skittish and don`t love other dogs in my personal bubble.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the “Adopt Me” button to apply!

Story
Raven’s story may have started as an unclaimed stray, but her future is full of warmth, comfort, and companionship—she’s just waiting for the right person to share it with. This lovely 8-year-old black Lab mix is the definition of a gentle, happy soul. Raven has settled into shelter life with ease, showing that she’s likely house-trained and well-mannered in a home environment. She carries herself with a calm confidence and a friendly, outgoing nature that makes her easy to love from the moment you meet her. Raven is a social girl who has done well around other dogs. She’s polite and knows how to set her own boundaries—if things get a bit too busy, she simply chooses to walk away. That kind of easygoing temperament makes her a wonderful candidate for a home with another respectful dog, though she’d be just as content soaking up all the love as your one and only. Like many of us, Raven has a soft spot for good food—especially her beloved wet meals! She’s a bit of a “curvy girl” right now, so she’ll benefit from regular walks and some fun mental enrichment to keep her feeling her best. Think leisurely strolls, puzzle toys, and plenty of quality time together. Above all, Raven is a gem: sweet, affectionate, and full of quiet joy. She’s the kind of dog who will greet you with a wagging tail, keep you company through life’s simple moments, and remind you every day how special second chances can be. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a heart as big as her appetite, Raven might just be your perfect match. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Raven has a future appointment to be spayed on May 12th and will be ready to go to her forever home after her surgery. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Story
A soft-hearted sweetheart bursting with life, joy, and love, Honey is the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart and never give it back. This three and half year-old lab cross' happy spirit shines through in everything she does, from her enthusiastic sniff-filled adventures to the way she lights up around her favourite people. In the home, Honey is an absolute dream. She’s calm, affectionate, beautifully behaved, and a total crate superstar. She settles easily, loves being near her people, and has that comforting, gentle presence that makes a house feel more like home. Out in the world, Honey’s happiest place is a quiet park with plenty of room to roam, sniff, and explore at her own pace. Give her open space, a peaceful trail, or a calm suburban stroll, and you’ll see her relaxed, engaged, and happily trotting alongside you with her curious nose to the ground. Watching Honey enjoy the simple things in life like soft grass, fresh air, and a good sniffing route is pure happiness. Honey is a sensitive girl, and busy streets full of noise, traffic, bikes, and close-up dogs can feel overstimulating for her. Because of this, she’s looking for a patient, dog-savvy adopter who lives in a quieter suburban or country setting and can help her manage her leash reactivity. The beautiful thing? Through it all, her love for people never wavers. Her temperament with humans is truly exceptional as she is sweet, trusting, affectionate, and full of heart. Honey doesn’t need a perfect home, but she does need one where close encounters with the canine kind will be minimal. In return, Honey promises unwavering loyalty, joyful adventures, endless cuddles, and the kind of love that feels extra special because it’s been earned.
