Story
Rescue Story: Morning was saved just in time from a kill shelter, and now she’s ready to find a forever home where she can thrive and bring joy to her new family. Personality Overview: – Shy but Sweet: Morning may be a bit timid when you first meet her, but with a little patience (and maybe a tasty snack), she’ll quickly warm up to you. Once she’s comfortable, she loves to show her belly for rubs! 🥰 – Dog-Friendly: Morning is great at greeting other dogs, particularly those of a similar size or smaller. She’s generally friendly but prefers to avoid confrontation, even if another dog tries to provoke her. 🐕 – Focuses on Her Person: During walks, Morning is more interested in sticking close to her person than chasing after cats. 🐾 – Loves the Outdoors: She enjoys outdoor activities and has a normal energy level. After a day of fun, she’s happy to relax quietly at home. 😌 – Still Learning: Morning is working on her leash manners. She may pull a bit, but with ongoing training, she’s making great progress! 🚶‍♂️ – No Guarding Issues: Morning is easygoing with her food, showing no guarding behavior towards people or other dogs. 🥣 – Car Ride Caution: Morning is a bit fearful of getting into the car and might need a little help lifting in, but once she’s settled, she’s ready for the journey. 🚗 – Flexible with Potty Needs: Morning is adaptable with her bathroom habits, using both indoor pads and going outside as needed. 🚽 Why Adopt Morning? Morning is a gentle and sweet pup who’s ready to blossom with a loving and patient family. She may need a little time to adjust, but once she does, she’ll be a loyal and affectionate companion. If you’re looking for a dog who will brighten your days, Morning is the perfect match! 🌅 Ready to welcome Morning into your home? Story
🐾 Hi there, I’m Spring! 🐾
A Little About Me: Hey! I’m Spring, a 7-year-old Retriever/Jindo mix with a beautiful cream coat. I weigh 24 kg and I’m all fixed up and ready to find my forever home. 🏡💕
My Journey: I had an owner once, but due to some unfortunate events, I ended up in a shelter. My owner couldn’t come back for me, but I’ve always kept my kind and gentle spirit. 🐶💕

What Makes Me Special:
• Affectionate: I love to snuggle and rub against people, whether they’re old friends or new faces. I’m super easy to touch and adore cuddles. 🤗
• Kid-Friendly: I have a soft spot for kids under 13 and take snacks from them gently. 🍪
• Liftable: You can easily lift me by putting your arm under my belly. 🐾
• Belly Show: I even show my belly to people I meet for the first time! 🐕
• Dog-Friendly: I greet and play with both familiar and new dogs. 🐶
• Cat-Indifferent: Cats? They don’t bother me, but I might be a little scared of them. 🐱
• Calm: I like to rest calmly and have a low energy level. 💤
• Leash Walker: I have plenty of walking experience and follow people well without pulling. 🐾
• Food Sharing: I don’t guard my food and am calm around other dogs. 🍲
• Quiet: I hardly ever bark and am calm in a kennel. 💤
• House-Trained: I usually do my business outside. 🚽

Fun Facts About Me:
• I’m a big dog with a gentle personality. 🐕
• I love snacks and am very food-motivated. 🍪
• I walk really well and love anyone, even strangers. 🐾
• I need continuous ear care, but I’m not hard to control. 🥰
• Families with older members can be a great fit for me. 👵👴
Why You Should Choose Me: I’m looking for a loving home where I can share my gentle and playful spirit. I promise to be a loyal and loving companion. Could you be the one to give me my forever home? 🏡💕
Love, Spring 🐾💖

Story
’m Becky, a 5-year-old female Labrador Retriever looking for my forever home. I’ve had a bit of a rough start, being abandoned near a rural chicken coop, but thanks to some kind souls, I’ve been rescued. I’m a social butterfly with a heart as big as my paws. It doesn’t take me long to warm up to new people—I’ll be nudging you for pets and belly rubs in no time. I get along great with other dogs, always up for a playdate and ready to make new friends. However, I do have a bit of a protective soul, so if another dog challenges me, I might stand my ground. Just something to keep in mind. I’m well-behaved on walks, although I might need a gentle reminder not to pull too hard on the leash. When it comes to strangers, I’ll give a little bark to let you know someone’s approaching, but I’m calm and collected in my kennel. I’m an outdoor enthusiast when it comes to bathroom breaks—I prefer the great outdoors for that. And did I mention how smart I am? I’ve mastered basic commands like sit, paw, and stay. I might not guard my food, but if another dog tries to sneak a nibble, I’ll definitely let out a warning growl. So, what do you say? Are you ready for a lifetime of tail wags, paw prints, and unconditional love? If you think we could be the perfect match, come meet me! I can’t wait to bring joy and companionship to your home. Story
Bella would make a great companion for anyone looking for a low-maintenance dog. She is a 30 lb couch potato who enjoys cuddles, is very affectionate with her person, and makes a great reading buddy. Bella also loves to sleep in and goes to her foster mom's bed around 9 pmto warm it up! Bella is a tripod due to a car accident in Mexico when she was younger. At 6 years old, she moves around well but a home without a lot of stairs would be ideal. While Bella is happy to chill on the couch, she also loves her walks. Moderate daily exercise is great. She enjoys the mental stimulation of sniffing and exploring her local neighbourhood. Plus, walks help to keep her single hind leg strengthened and weight stable. Bella can be selective with dogs. She is currently living in a foster home and has had a few other rescue dogs come and go. She interacts with most of them well. At times, Bella can be reactive to other dogs when she is on her walks. A quiet home is best for Bella with either another dog or someone home more often than not. She can be left for periods on her own. An experienced dog person or couple without kids would be ideal. Initially, Bella was adopted when she arrived from Mexico a few years ago. Unfortunately, she was surrendered to Paws Above Rescue after her adopter became ill and passed away. If you would like to meet Bella or are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application at https://pawsaboverescue.ca/dog-adoption/ Please visit our website www.pawsaboverescue.ca to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Story
He might not have electric boots or a mohair suit, but our Benny is one of a kind! Benny is an 8 month old neutered male Labrador Retriever mix who came into the shelter as a stray but was never claimed. Benny definitely likes to jet - he will need an active, experienced owner to tire him out and help him be the best Benny that he can be!This high energy boy will need someone with experience in basic training, especially working with him on his leash skills and his tendency to mouth at arms and clothing and to jump up excitedly on people. When working with staff during training sessions, Benny surprised everyone and did very well! Shelter staff think that at some point in his `puppyhood` Benny attended some basic obedience classes, but we unfortunately cannot confirm this! Benny is very food-motivated, and tends to have better focus on commands when there is a reward in it for him (if ever a dog needed a t-shirt with `will work for treats` emblazoned on the back, Benny is THAT dog). Unfortunately, once treats are taken out of the equation, Benny tends to lose focus and `forget` his manners. With additional training, we think that he will learn to be more consistent! Luckily, this boy will provide enough love and laughs in the meantime to make him worth the effort! If you think you can handle the loveable smiling Benny, contact the East Region shelter at 416-338-7539!

Story
🐾 Meet Ricky! 🐾 Hello, hoomans! I’m Ricky, a lovable 5-year-old Retriever mix with a beautiful brown coat! 🐶 Weighing 28 kg, I’m a big, affectionate boy looking for my forever home. Here’s a bit about me: 💖 I’m very affectionate and love to rub against people, whether I know you or not. I’m all about the pets and cuddles! 🐾 You can lift me by putting your arm under my belly. Once we become friends, I’ll happily show my belly for some rubs, and I’ll even show my belly to new friends. 🐕 I greet strange dogs but don’t really play with them. I need a bit of caution around new dogs because I might get defensive if provoked, especially with toys or snacks involved. 😺 When I see a cat during walks, I stay focused on my human friend. I’m quite jealous of other dogs and might need to be your one and only pup. 🌳 I have a high energy level and need plenty of outdoor activities. After a fun time outside, I love to rest quietly at home. 🚶‍♂️ I have plenty of walking experience and follow people well without pulling on the leash. I’m calm when put in a kennel and don’t guard my food against people or other dogs. 🚗 I know how to get in and out of a car by myself, and I generally do my business outside. I have a strong Retriever personality—very affectionate and not wary of strangers. I was abandoned as a puppy and spent a long time in a shelter, so I didn’t learn how to play with other dogs. I started training when I was 5 years old, but I still try to bite other dogs when saying hi. My trainer says I’m not aggressive; I just want all the attention for myself. So, it’s best to walk me a lot and give me lots of love instead of introducing me to other dogs. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, and active companion, I’m your guy! Let’s meet and start our journey together. 🏡💕 With love and wags, Ricky 🐾
