Story
Polar | Female | 4.5 Months | Northern Mix Breed | Dogs: Yes | Cats: Yes | Kids: Yes Meet Polar! Polar, a lovable and playful pup from a remote Northern Ontario community, is ready to join your family! She has overcome a broken femoral head, and with veterinary monitoring, no surgery is currently needed. The rescue will cover future surgery costs if necessary down the road. Polar is a true love bug - an affectionate, friendly, gentle, and sweet companion who loves people and social interaction. She's highly food motivated, making training a breeze! This playful pup enjoys running around the house and yard, catching and throwing toys, and rolling and chasing balls. Ideally, Polar's family will be active, with time for play and exercise. She'll do well with families with children, provided they're gentle and patient. While not necessary, having a pet sibling for playtime would be beneficial, as Polar loves to play and stay engaged. In terms of training, Polar is crate trained, responding to the command "bed." She's mostly housebroken, with occasional accidents when we can’t get out out to potty fast enough when she wakes up in the morning. Consistency and patience will help her overcome this. At night, Polar sleeps comfortably in her crate, occasionally whining before settling. Polar is microchipped and current on age appropriate vaccinations. She is located in Oshawa, ON. This little god of love is active, full of life, and very ready to meet his forever family. Eros is a cuddle bug who is sweet, playful, and will be sure to bring a smile to your face. Eros has a big personality and a big heart. He is game for just about anything, whether it is heading out for a sniffy walk, pets and belly rubs, rolling and playing on the grass, or just chilling out on his bed. Eros is an active guy and loves walks and indoor enrichment like a snuffle mat or peanut butter kong. He is medium energy. When getting ready for his walks, Eros will give full body wiggles to show his enthusiasm. He loves to cuddle and has little respect for personal space (in a very cute and endearing way!). He likes to snuggle under your arm and give you hugs and kisses. He is an entertaining companion and sure to bring lots of laughs. Eros may take a moment to meet and warm up to new people but once he does he is nothing but loving and attentive. Eros currently gets two walks between 30-45 minutes each, plus play time in the backyard, potty breaks, and indoor and outdoor enrichment such as treat puzzles, frozen lick mats, or foraging games. He can pull on leash when he finds something very interesting but can be redirected. He may react to other dogs he sees on leash by crying or barking and may react to strangers by becoming tense and growling or barking, especially if strange men approach him. Sometimes he has no problem passing people on the street. His fosters are working on this will him by giving him space from strangers and redirecting his attention to them or blocking his view until he calms down. In the house, Eros wants to be close to his people. He has been left both in and out of the crate and while he is not destructive, he is vocal and will cry and bark for up to 20 minutes. His fosters are working on this with him but his adoptive family should be prepared to continue helping him cope with this anxiety. Eros sleeps through the night on his bed in his fosters' room. Eros is working on basic training and knows sit, down, and is working on stay and recall (has not been tested off-leash). He is potty trained. His adoptive family will need to continue working on basic obedience with him. Eros previously lived with another dog and did well with him but sometimes he can't take a hint and got in the other dog's face. He really wants to play and can't always take cues from other dogs. He would likely do very well with a playful, patient dog who can tolerate his puppy antics and show him the ropes, but would also be fine as the only dog in the home. Eros hasn't been exposed to cats and is looking for a cat-free home. Eros' perfect family will be active and patient as he gets comfortable and builds his confidence. He would do great in a house with a backyard to run around and burn some energy. He would do well with older, dog-savvy kids (10+) but his enthusiastic style of play might be too much for smaller children. He needs a committed family who can work with him on basic obedience, and boosting his confidence. Eros has all the makings of an exceptional family pet and we can't wait for this very good boy to find his special family. Eros is a flight risk and our top priority in his furever home is safety. His forever family must take precautions to keep him safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker which will be required for adoption. If you're interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Eros' adoption has been sponsored by F+R. Story
MORE PHOTOS/VIDEOS: https://www.facebook.com/TLCRR https://www.instagram.com/taffyslegacycaninerescue taffyslegacy.com/selma Selma was pulled from a list of dogs who were going to be euthanized. We know she is a tough case based on how fearful she is, however we had the room to give her a chance and so far, she’s exceeded all of our expectations. We hope that with training and time we can help her find balance in her scared little brain and see that people really aren’t so bad. First impressions: Strangers: Extremely timid with people, we pulled this girl knowing full and well that she will take a couple months of training and rehabilitation to become adoptable. At present she is very fearful, shies away and will not approach new people she does not know. Dogs: Loves ALL dogs. Selma is very dog social and will match the play style of her friends. She is currently living in our Kennel, where she gets to go out to Doggie Daycare multiple times a week to spend time with many of her friends. When the play gets too intense, she becomes submissive and rolls on her back, so she makes the perfect playmate for many dogs. Cats: Unsure with cats, we will test her once she settles in. She is however quite prey driven towards the resident chickens, noteworthy, but this does not necessarily mean she couldn't live with cats. Kids: Though we have not tested her with children we feel that based on her timid-ness she'd do best in an adult only home with another canine companion who is confident to show her the ropes, this could change after spending some time in care. Crate: Selma is clean in her kennel and goes in and although the first few days she was apprehensive going out, she has no hesitation going back in, she seems to like her kennel! Leash: Clearly has minimal or no leash experience and acts semi-feral on leash. She panics, tries to get away and gator rolls when leashed. This is currently being worked on. Car Skills: Thus far, she has shown to be quiet in her crate. Energy Level: Medium to high energy, runs like the wind outside, but settles quickly in her kennel. Confidence: Very unsure, will need consistent training and positive reinforcement to build her up. Affection: With the people she trusts she will lean into you and then flop over for belly rubs, but does take time to build this trust. Resources: Has not shown any issues with people or other dogs thus far. Training: very food motivated, takes food a little rough, but is eager to train. Behavioural: Even though Selma was the equivalent of semi-feral when leashed at the shelter, she showed no indication of wanting to bite. Given her level of fear, this was reason enough to give her a chance. Behaviourally, she will need work on building confidence and counterconditioning her aversion to the leash (which admittedly has already improved leaps and bounds). Best traits: absolutely adorable, great with all dogs, clean in her kennel, food motivated and eager to train. Needs improvement: Positive introductions to the leash and building confidence with humans. Selma is in perfect health! She currently has her spay appointment scheduled for the end of Nov 2023, and has one more booster shot left to be completed. Otherwise, she is up to date on her vetting. **She has not yet been heartworm tested** ADOPTION PROCESS: taffyslegacy.com/adoption-process

Mac is friendly, loyal and active. Mac prefers people over anything else! This boy's needs are pretty simple - a one-person or one-couple home and some moderate daily exercise, followed by a place next to you, he is happiest finding a comfy place to be wherever you are. When he is with his people he is an affectionate cuddlebug who will amuse you with his expressive face and cute mannerisms. He is a dog that looks to people for leadership and guidance - great qualities for training; his trainer says ‘once he meets you, he is a friend for life!"ABOUT MAC:- Mac is a Lab/Shepherd mix, 5 year old, male, mid-sized approximately 45 lb - Mac is a tripod, he has 3 legs his back left leg was amputated after an injury - Mac is neutered, house-trained, microchipped and has his core vaccinations - He is friendly and does better with calm, slow introductions- He will bond and follow his person(s) everywhere they go in the houseThis boy doesn't pull on walks and will focus on you but he needs you to honour his way of communicating his desires. He likes meeting people but not other dogs on his walks (not right now, anyway) while he has been with us Mac has been working with a trainer and he's making progress. His trainer has made great strides with his vocalness to seeing other dogs on a walk, with space and distance he does well. Our trainer looks forward to working with his adopters to ensure a successful transition and knowledge transfer to his new family.MAC'S IDEAL HOME:- A detached home with a fenced yard in a quiet neighbourhood- Home with one or two people who are home more often than not and not many visitors- Someone who will be able to maintain his health and give him daily moderate exercise- A family willing to continue to work with his trainer on his socializationIf you think Mac would be a great addition to your pack, we want to hear from you!
