Story
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Gunner. He is a yellow labrador Retriever who was born in May 2021. He weighs 57lbs and has a medium-length hair coat. Gunner was transferred to our Rescue where the opportunity for adoption is much greater here.     Gunner is a very happy active boy. He requires stimulation as he is on the move a great deal of the day. He loves playing with other dogs, especially chasing. He is very fast and will try and herd the other dog/dogs he is playing with. Gunner is very social with children and people. He was in foster care at another rescue since he was 4 months old but never found the right family. Gunner is astute and has excellent recall. He would benefit and excel from obedience classes. He rides well in a vehicle and loves car rides. Gunner needs work and practice walking on a lead and body harness. He has a 1/4 acre, fully fenced area, to run on at his foster home so is not used to going for walks. He would do fine in a home with older children as the younger ones, he would bowl over accidentally when he gets playful. The ideal home for Gunner is one where the family includes him in their outdoor activities. He needs to be able to run a good hour or perhaps go on a good long hike when it's not hot out. He requires mental stimulation so leaving him home with some toys won't work for this boy at his age. He is still a big puppy but housebroken. Gunner is neutered, up to date with vaccines, 4dx tested negative, dewormed, and on heartworm/flea/tick prevention.   Thank you very much Melissa Caron Photography for these lovely photos you took.

I’m Miss Molly, a 15-month-old Golden Retriever with a luxurious mane, floppy ears, kind and expressive eyes, and a HUGE heart ready to love you! I tend to be timid and scare easily, especially around other dogs. However, I genuinely want to play with them and get along well with calm dogs, so please continue to introduce me to other pups during our walks! My mom and dad have introduced me to over 15 guests at a party at our house, including young kids. They said I handled it “like a CHAMP!” Yay for me! I’m motivated by food, but not overly so—just enough to train me with treats. I respond well to commands like “Sit!”, “Down!”, and “Come!” On a good day, when I’m in a compliant mood, I also respond to “Look!” I ABSOLUTELY LOVE prancing around in the backyard; it really brings out my Zoomies! Digging up mom and dad’s mulch bed and carrying gravel rocks in my mouth (much to their dismay!) are other favorite pastimes, so please don’t leave me unattended! I’ve been known to run around the yard like crazy, so a long leash is a good idea, especially in the beginning. Dad says I have a “strange but endearing” habit of growling when I want my family to play with me. I think there’s nothing like a growl to set the mood when I’m rough-housing with my ball and rubber bone—so don’t think twice about it! I tend to be a consistently slobbery drinker (so I highly recommend a mat under my feeding and water bowls), and I occasionally chew the edges of area rugs. I’m also a wildly enthusiastic chaser of squirrels and rabbits, so consider yourself warned! I get quite excited on walks, which is why a front-attached harness works best for me. Inside the house, I chill like a villain. All four members of my family love on me every night before they go to bed, regardless of how I might feel about it. I express my love for Dad by giving him lots of licks, while Mom isn’t a fan of the “lickie-trickie,” so I’ve learned to hold back with her. Once I get comfy, I’m always ready to lie on my back and enjoy belly rubs. Those are GOOOOOOD, and everyone loves my “shaggy mane,” as they call it. It’s a win-win, wouldn’t you say?! I’m SO ready for my forever home and family, so what do you say?! Miss Molly  has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, & Heartworm tested, and additionally, Miss Molly has been on monthly preventatives. Her adoption fee is $750.00, which includes her health records!
