Story
Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows—meet Sunshine, a female Lab mix whose name says it all! Sunshine came to Dog Tales after her previous owner could no longer manage her allergies. Thanks to the dedicated care of a dermatologist, Sunshine’s allergies are now well-controlled with daily medication and a special vegetarian diet. Unfortunately, due to years of untreated ear infections from her allergies, Sunshine needed surgery to remove the inner ear and ear canal on her left side, leaving her completely deaf in that ear. Her right ear is still receiving treatment, and she’ll need ongoing care to maintain her progress. Sunshine is searching for a family that can continue her daily medication and allergy management, helping her stay as healthy as she is happy. If you're looking to add a little ray of sunshine to your life, this sweet girl could be the perfect match—and she truly lights up any room!

Story
Bella would make a great companion for anyone looking for a low-maintenance dog. She is a 30 lb couch potato who enjoys cuddles, is very affectionate with her person, and makes a great reading buddy. Bella also loves to sleep in and goes to her foster mom's bed around 9 pmto warm it up! Bella is a tripod due to a car accident in Mexico when she was younger. At 6 years old, she moves around well but a home without a lot of stairs would be ideal. While Bella is happy to chill on the couch, she also loves her walks. Moderate daily exercise is great. She enjoys the mental stimulation of sniffing and exploring her local neighbourhood. Plus, walks help to keep her single hind leg strengthened and weight stable. Bella can be selective with dogs. She is currently living in a foster home and has had a few other rescue dogs come and go. She interacts with most of them well. At times, Bella can be reactive to other dogs when she is on her walks. A quiet home is best for Bella with either another dog or someone home more often than not. She can be left for periods on her own. An experienced dog person or couple without kids would be ideal. Initially, Bella was adopted when she arrived from Mexico a few years ago. Unfortunately, she was surrendered to Paws Above Rescue after her adopter became ill and passed away. If you would like to meet Bella or are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application at https://pawsaboverescue.ca/dog-adoption/ Please visit our website www.pawsaboverescue.ca to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Story
Say hello to Stella! This young, vibrant soul is looking for her forever home, and has a heart full of love and joy. She`ll be your next bubbly, friendly companion with a curious and goofy personality that will keep you entertained. Her playful nature and intelligence make her a quick learner who loves to explore and engage in fun activities. Stella`s cuddly and loyal nature makes her the perfect companion for those cozy nights in. She`s a ball of energy, always ready to play and bring a smile to your face. Her sweetness is unmatched, her gentle spirit is sure to warm your heart. She seems to enjoy the company of humans and doggie companions alike. She can be a vocal girl when she is over excited or left alone so someone who is home with her or doggie daycare will ensure she is comfortable and at ease.Stella recently came back from a change of scenery where she was staying at one of our veterinary partners, and here`s what her friends there had to say about her: She (Stella) is a LOVELY girl [albeit can be] very high energy and mouthy. She is a jumping jelly bean, able to jump very high up with the potential to lick your face! She will make a fabulous pet for someone who can burn off some of her energy and work on her manners. We have been walking her with a gentle leader and she is phenomenal. She does love other dogs too. And she is PERFECTION in a crate in the car. Adopt this fun, happy girl and add a ray of sunshine to your life!! She`s ready to create beautiful memories and share unconditional love with her forever family. If you`ve fallen head over heels please call us at the North Animal Shelter to learn more about her and our adoption process: 416-338-PAWS (7297). We are open daily between 10:30AM to 6:30PM!

She’s generally friendly but prefers to avoid confrontation, even if another dog tries to provoke her. 🐕 – Focuses on Her Person: During walks, Morning is more interested in sticking close to her person than chasing after cats. 🐾 – Loves the Outdoors: She enjoys outdoor activities and has a normal energy level. After a day of fun, she’s happy to relax quietly at home. 😌 – Still Learning: Morning is working on her leash manners. She may pull a bit, but with ongoing training, she’s making great progress! 🚶‍♂️ – No Guarding Issues: Morning is easygoing with her food, showing no guarding behavior towards people or other dogs. 🥣 – Car Ride Caution: Morning is a bit fearful of getting into the car and might need a little help lifting in, but once she’s settled, she’s ready for the journey. 🚗 – Flexible with Potty Needs: Morning is adaptable with her bathroom habits, using both indoor pads and going outside as needed. 🚽 Why Adopt Morning? Story
’m Becky, a 5-year-old female Labrador Retriever looking for my forever home. I’ve had a bit of a rough start, being abandoned near a rural chicken coop, but thanks to some kind souls, I’ve been rescued. I’m a social butterfly with a heart as big as my paws. It doesn’t take me long to warm up to new people—I’ll be nudging you for pets and belly rubs in no time. I get along great with other dogs, always up for a playdate and ready to make new friends. However, I do have a bit of a protective soul, so if another dog challenges me, I might stand my ground. Just something to keep in mind. I’m well-behaved on walks, although I might need a gentle reminder not to pull too hard on the leash. When it comes to strangers, I’ll give a little bark to let you know someone’s approaching, but I’m calm and collected in my kennel. I’m an outdoor enthusiast when it comes to bathroom breaks—I prefer the great outdoors for that. And did I mention how smart I am? I’ve mastered basic commands like sit, paw, and stay. I might not guard my food, but if another dog tries to sneak a nibble, I’ll definitely let out a warning growl. So, what do you say? Are you ready for a lifetime of tail wags, paw prints, and unconditional love? If you think we could be the perfect match, come meet me! I can’t wait to bring joy and companionship to your home. Story
🐶 Quick Facts! • Name: Mamba • Age: 2 years old • Gender: Female • Neutered: Yes • Breed: Labrador mix • Colour: Black • Weight: 22kg 🌱All about me🐕 Hello guys. I’m Mamba. I am a 2 year old Labrador mix girl, looking for my forever home. I am covered in a sleek black coat, which really makes me stand out. I might seem a bit shy at first but give me some time. Once I get to know you, I will let you pet me and rub my belly. By the way, if you have some treats with you, that will make things little easier because I really like to eat! I have not had many adventures in the outside world and loud noises can be a bit overwhelming for me. But no worries. I am currently getting my training, and I hope it gets better. With time and patience, I will learn to get less sensitive to noises. During walks, I may pull my leash a bit due to excitement, but I am generally responsive to my human’s guidance. After a good walk, I settle down nicely on a couch or in my crate. Speaking of which, I am a well-behaved girl even inside my crate. I usually get along with other furry friends whether they are about my size or smaller than me. The heart is what really matters! If I find them to be my friends, I will get along well. If someone tries to challenge me, I will step back and walk away. Although I usually get along with other friends, I get little overwhelmed when they become too energetic. Regarding my potty habits, I use both indoors and outdoors. Whether you live in a high-rise or low-rise, you will not need to worry about it as I have got it all covered. Cats? I do not mind them, but I focus on my humans instead. I do not guard my food against humans and other furry friends. Despite my young age, my energy level is not very high, but I still enjoy my outdoor adventures and activities. Visiting a dog park is also a great idea as I can run freely. I may seem to be a bit shy in the beginning. But once my initial shyness fades away, I am confident that I will be a perfect canine friend who will warm your heart with joy and happiness. For details, please reach out to my team and they will be more than happy to assist you! 💛 For more videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa4UUrmvSDs&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JwHBnPF_KsehZgU-TysGeyW

Story
🐶 Quick Facts 🐾 Name: San Aga: 3 years old Gender: Male Neutered: Yes Breed: Labrador Retriever Colour: Beige Weight: 20kg 🐕My Story🐕 I’m San, your classic Labrador Retriever, and I’m so excited to tell you all about myself! I’m a three-year-old Labrador Retriever boy with a soft beige coat, weighing around 20 kg (about 44 lbs). Right now, I’m a bit on the slim side, but with the right care, I’ll fill out to a healthy, sturdy weight. I was rescued from a high-risk shelter and am now on my journey to find a forever home. I’m as friendly as they come and love being around people! 🐶Personality🐶 I’m an incredibly affectionate and social guy who’s ready to make friends with everyone I meet! Whether you’re a familiar face or someone new, I’ll come right over, lean in for pets, and even show my belly as a warm welcome. I’m comfortable being picked up if needed and will happily snuggle up with you for all the love and attention. My ideal day includes lots of human interaction—I’m happiest when I can be close to my people. 👫My Social Side❤️ I’m friendly with other dogs and will approach them politely to say hello, especially those who are around my size or smaller. But I’m much more interested in spending time with people than other dogs. Even if another dog tries to start something, I’ll usually walk away—I’m a lover, not a fighter! As for cats, I’m not too interested; on walks, I prefer to stay focused on my human rather than chasing after them. 🔋My Energy Level & Walks🚶 I have a lot of energy—classic Lab style! I’m always on the move, ready for adventure, and love to play. I’m especially fond of water and will jump right in if given the chance; swimming and splashing are some of my favorite activities. On walks, I do tend to get excited and pull in the direction I want to go, so I’m currently working on my leash manners. With consistent training, I know I’ll improve, but for now, my enthusiasm for exploring keeps me on my toes! I’m also flexible with potty habits, comfortable using both indoor pads and going outside. While I’m generally very quiet, I might mark in new places as I explore, just as boys like me do. 💌Last Message💌 I’m a classic, fun-loving Labrador with all the typical Retriever charm. I don’t guard my food and am always calm in my kennel. My love for people and my playful spirit makes me a perfect companion for an active family who enjoys outdoor adventures and quality time. Though I can be a bit overexcited during walks, my enthusiasm just means I’m ready to embrace life to the fullest with you by my side. If you’re looking for a joyful, friendly, and loyal friend who loves both water and playtime, I could be the perfect fit. I’m ready to find my forever family and share all the love I have to give! 📺 Videos📺 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmo059kzr_g&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JyCFdCOD3aqqaTymHIajB76

Story
Cocoa is a sweet chocolate brown lab mix. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. Cocoa is 7 - 8 years old and is so sweet with everyone he meets. Cocoa's owner became ill so that is why he is available. He is a lower energy dog that does like to go for a walk, hang out watching movies, and go for car rides. Our preference is for an adult only home with a fenced in yard, quiet life style, and who wants to spoil this dear boy bewildered over what he could have done wrong. He is house broken and has no anxiety being left alone. We would love to have you meet him so if you live within a couple hours of Toronto and would like more information and an application, please email our rescue at c4ptoronto@gmail.com.

Story
Brown is one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet! His enthusiasm is contagious, and he finds pure joy in just about everything—walks, treats, belly rubs, and all the love he can get. With his high energy, Brown is looking for an active family who can provide plenty of exercise and ongoing training to keep him engaged and happy. He’s wonderful with people, including children, but his excitement can make him a bit jumpy, so a home without very small kids would be best. Brown is currently being assessed for his interactions with other dogs. He’s doing well with female dogs but will need slow and careful introductions to ensure positive relationships with other canine companions. Resilient and full of spirit, Brown has overcome a lot. He was transferred to us from another shelter, where he was rescued from a neglect and cruelty situation. Shortly after arriving, Brown was diagnosed with leishmaniasis, a disease transmitted by sand fly that requires daily medication and routine blood and urine testing. He also tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, both of which have been successfully treated, though his blood values still need regular monitoring. Despite these challenges, Brown’s vibrant personality hasn’t wavered. He was recently diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus, an immune disorder affecting his skin, but with treatment of a low-dose steroid, he’s doing well. Is Brown the loving, resilient companion you’ve been waiting for? His medical needs don’t slow him down, and they shouldn't slow you down from welcoming this wonderful boy into your home!
