Story
Chance / Neutered Male / 65lbs / Black Lab mix / Dogs: Yes / Cats: No / Kids: Yes Remember Chance? This sweet boy came to us from Manitoba in mid-December, and after completing his veterinary work, he’s now ready to find his forever family! 🐾❤️ Chance is a cuddle lover through and through. Whether it’s snuggling up with his humans or lounging around with his foster sister Willow, he’s always ready for some affection. When he’s not napping or snuggling, you can catch him playing with his favorite squeaky toys, or looking out the window for people watching opportunities. He’s got a big heart and is super smart—he already knows sit, focus, lay down, and shake a paw! 🐶 Though Chance has the energy of a young Lab, he’s also incredibly sweet and gentle. He loves people of all ages (especially when they give belly rubs!) and is great with other dogs. He’s also food-motivated and eager to please, which makes him an ideal candidate for continued training. Chance would thrive in an active home where he can burn off his energy and continue to learn new skills. He would absolutely benefit from obedience classes to help him become the best boy he can be. 🏃‍♂️💡 Chance is not cat-friendly and should not be adopted into a home with cats or small pets. He’s house-trained and does okay in the crate, but would benefit from ongoing crate training and structure. He LOVES car rides and can’t wait to hit the road with his new family! 🚗💨 Chance is a truly kind and loving soul who’s ready to bring so much joy to his forever family. If you think you can provide the active and loving home this boy deserves, apply today! 💖 Chance is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is being fostered in Guelph. Story
MORE PHOTOS/VIDEOS: https://www.facebook.com/TLCRR https://www.instagram.com/taffyslegacycaninerescue taffyslegacy.com/selma Selma was pulled from a list of dogs who were going to be euthanized. We know she is a tough case based on how fearful she is, however we had the room to give her a chance and so far, she’s exceeded all of our expectations. We hope that with training and time we can help her find balance in her scared little brain and see that people really aren’t so bad. First impressions: Strangers: Extremely timid with people, we pulled this girl knowing full and well that she will take a couple months of training and rehabilitation to become adoptable. At present she is very fearful, shies away and will not approach new people she does not know. Dogs: Loves ALL dogs. Selma is very dog social and will match the play style of her friends. She is currently living in our Kennel, where she gets to go out to Doggie Daycare multiple times a week to spend time with many of her friends. When the play gets too intense, she becomes submissive and rolls on her back, so she makes the perfect playmate for many dogs. Cats: Unsure with cats, we will test her once she settles in. She is however quite prey driven towards the resident chickens, noteworthy, but this does not necessarily mean she couldn't live with cats. Kids: Though we have not tested her with children we feel that based on her timid-ness she'd do best in an adult only home with another canine companion who is confident to show her the ropes, this could change after spending some time in care. Crate: Selma is clean in her kennel and goes in and although the first few days she was apprehensive going out, she has no hesitation going back in, she seems to like her kennel! Leash: Clearly has minimal or no leash experience and acts semi-feral on leash. She panics, tries to get away and gator rolls when leashed. This is currently being worked on. Car Skills: Thus far, she has shown to be quiet in her crate. Energy Level: Medium to high energy, runs like the wind outside, but settles quickly in her kennel. Confidence: Very unsure, will need consistent training and positive reinforcement to build her up. Affection: With the people she trusts she will lean into you and then flop over for belly rubs, but does take time to build this trust. Resources: Has not shown any issues with people or other dogs thus far. Training: very food motivated, takes food a little rough, but is eager to train. Behavioural: Even though Selma was the equivalent of semi-feral when leashed at the shelter, she showed no indication of wanting to bite. Given her level of fear, this was reason enough to give her a chance. Behaviourally, she will need work on building confidence and counterconditioning her aversion to the leash (which admittedly has already improved leaps and bounds). Best traits: absolutely adorable, great with all dogs, clean in her kennel, food motivated and eager to train. Needs improvement: Positive introductions to the leash and building confidence with humans. Selma is in perfect health! She currently has her spay appointment scheduled for the end of Nov 2023, and has one more booster shot left to be completed. Otherwise, she is up to date on her vetting. **She has not yet been heartworm tested** ADOPTION PROCESS: taffyslegacy.com/adoption-process

Story
Martha / Female / Approx. 2 years/ Weight 69lbs / Lab x Shepherd/Good With Dogs / Untested With Kids / Untested With Cats / From Tennessee/ Fostered in Toronto Meet Martha! Martha's foster describes her as a sweet girl who loves to cuddle. Martha came to us from our partner rescue in Tennessee where she grew up with her littermates. She loves playing with her humans, chew toys, and puzzle games! Martha is a big softie and would be the perfect companion to stay cozy and watch Netflix with this winter. Martha likes following her foster around like a shadow and seeks comfort and reassurance from him. She also likes meeting people. She prefers to meet them outdoors and is a bit fearful/nervous indoors when new people come into her space. While she hasn’t met any children, her sweet and gentle disposition lead us to believe that she would do well with dog savvy children who are old enough to understand and respect her boundaries. Martha is still learning to feel safe and adapt to her new environment - where she is making so much progress every day! She is obsessed with food and treats. Combined with her strong desire to please her family, she will be easy to train. Now she is perfecting her recall and even learning to shake a paw! Martha enjoys enrichment activities such as games, puzzles, and learning new tricks which help her use energy while feeling safe in a familiar setting. Martha is still building confidence with loud noises and busy areas, so patience with training will be needed in helping her reach her potential. She is both curious and nervous meeting other dogs, often giving others a potential sniff while keeping her distance. However after a meeting or two, she has shown to make best friends with many of the dogs in her current neighborhood! Careful and measured introductions to other dogs will be helpful as she builds confidence and learns to play more with other dogs. The same goes for humans. Martha can be especially shy and for people visiting her home. Slow instructions are crucial and she does best with humans who give her space and let her come to them. She usually just needs some time and patience. Martha is working on getting her basics down. She is learning to walk on a leash, and pee outside. She sleeps on a bed next to her foster, and is trusted with free reign of the housel. This very good girl has been left alone up to 4 hours without issue. Martha's ideal home would be outside the busy city centre and have a fenced in yard for her to run around in. She would benefit from a patience family and a quiet home where she can feel secure and let her lovely personality shine. She bonds with people quickly, loves love, and would be happy living wherever her person is. Martha lived with another dog prior to coming into our care and would likely do well with a resident dog, and it may even help build her confidence. We would not recommend cats due to her personality. Looking for a mellowed out couch buddy? If you have a little patience and are willing to help this girl come out of her shell, you just may have a best friend for life in Martha! If you’re interested in adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Martha’s adoption fee is $250. Story
Curly/ Male / Approx. 9 months / 53 lbs / Lab Mix / Good with Calm Dogs / Untested with Kids / Untested with Cats / From Tennessee/ Fostered in Etobicoke **Follow Curly journey on Instagram: @curly.thecutie Meet Curly! Curly's foster describes him as a happy dog who loves snuggles and affection. Curly is originally from Tennessee. He was found in a field as a tiny newborn pup with his mom and siblings. He’s now being fostered in Etobicoke and is ready for his forever home. He loves attention and will remind you to keep petting him by putting a hand on your leg. Once he’s comfortable with you, he will even give you hugs. He is such a gentle boy and will thrive in the right home. He loves car rides, and barely sheds. This guy will make a great best friend! Although he is very friendly and attentive with those he knows well, he is not yet comfortable around men. He is making progress here. Curly is able to understand which people are known to his foster, and is more trusting of them. Once he knows you, Curly is very loving and is a great companion. Curly doesn’t do well with a lot of noise or chaos around him, so a family with kids may not be the best match. He would prefer an adult-only home, or one with older, dog-savvy teenagers. A fenced in yard or lots of space are not required to keep this boy happy. All he asks for is to be taken out 4-5 times daily to do his business. He would prefer a home that is more quiet than lively, outside of the city centre. His foster believes that with time and proper intros, Curly would do well with other dogs. That being said, he is currently wary of some dogs and prefers those with a calm energy. While he hasn’t met any cats in our care, it is also believed that with proper intros he would do well in a house with resident cats. He currently gets 4-5 walks per day. 3 of them are around an hour, and the other(s), around 30 minutes. His foster describes him as a 3 out of 10 on the energy scale. Curly walks well on a leash as long as he’s in a quieter area. He is very food motivated and is learning his basic commands quickly. He will need ongoing assistance when it comes to being comfortable around men. He doesn’t have much experience with them but is becoming more and more comfortable. When it comes to potty training, Curly has not had any accidents in the house. He is also crate trained and does very well with this. Curly has not been left alone often, or for more than a few hours. When he is left alone, he is usually crated and will calmly await his foster’s return. His foster has left him free reign for shorter periods with no issues at all. As a condition of the adoption contract, Curly’s new family will be required to: - Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required) - Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage If you’re interested in adopting Curly please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Curly’s adoption fee is $900. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eros / Male / 1.5 years old / 60 lbs / Lab Cross / Good with Dogs / Untested with Children / No Cats Please / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto ** Follow Ero's adventures on Instagram @era_era_eros ** Welcome to the Eros Tour! This little god of love is active, full of life, and very ready to meet his forever family. Eros is a cuddle bug who is sweet, playful, and will be sure to bring a smile to your face. Eros has a big personality and a big heart. He is game for just about anything, whether it is heading out for a sniffy walk, pets and belly rubs, rolling and playing on the grass, or just chilling out on his bed. Eros is an active guy and loves walks and indoor enrichment like a snuffle mat or peanut butter kong. He is medium energy. When getting ready for his walks, Eros will give full body wiggles to show his enthusiasm. He loves to cuddle and has little respect for personal space (in a very cute and endearing way!). He likes to snuggle under your arm and give you hugs and kisses. He is an entertaining companion and sure to bring lots of laughs. Eros may take a moment to meet and warm up to new people but once he does he is nothing but loving and attentive. Eros currently gets two walks between 30-45 minutes each, plus play time in the backyard, potty breaks, and indoor and outdoor enrichment such as treat puzzles, frozen lick mats, or foraging games. He can pull on leash when he finds something very interesting but can be redirected. He may react to other dogs he sees on leash by crying or barking and may react to strangers by becoming tense and growling or barking, especially if strange men approach him. Sometimes he has no problem passing people on the street. His fosters are working on this will him by giving him space from strangers and redirecting his attention to them or blocking his view until he calms down. In the house, Eros wants to be close to his people. He has been left both in and out of the crate and while he is not destructive, he is vocal and will cry and bark for up to 20 minutes. His fosters are working on this with him but his adoptive family should be prepared to continue helping him cope with this anxiety. Eros sleeps through the night on his bed in his fosters' room. Eros is working on basic training and knows sit, down, and is working on stay and recall (has not been tested off-leash). He is potty trained. His adoptive family will need to continue working on basic obedience with him. Eros previously lived with another dog and did well with him but sometimes he can't take a hint and got in the other dog's face. He really wants to play and can't always take cues from other dogs. He would likely do very well with a playful, patient dog who can tolerate his puppy antics and show him the ropes, but would also be fine as the only dog in the home. Eros hasn't been exposed to cats and is looking for a cat-free home. Eros' perfect family will be active and patient as he gets comfortable and builds his confidence. He would do great in a house with a backyard to run around and burn some energy. He would do well with older, dog-savvy kids (10+) but his enthusiastic style of play might be too much for smaller children. He needs a committed family who can work with him on basic obedience, and boosting his confidence. Eros has all the makings of an exceptional family pet and we can't wait for this very good boy to find his special family. Eros is a flight risk and our top priority in his furever home is safety. His forever family must take precautions to keep him safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker which will be required for adoption. If you're interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Eros' adoption has been sponsored by Fetch + Releash.
