Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eros / Male / 1.5 years old / 60 lbs / Lab Cross / Good with Dogs / Untested with Children / No Cats Please / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto Follow Ero's adventures on Instagram @era_era_eros Welcome to the Eros Tour! This little god of love is active, full of life, and very ready to meet his forever family. Eros is a cuddle bug who is sweet, playful, and will be sure to bring a smile to your face. Eros has a big personality and a big heart. He is game for just about anything, whether it is heading out for a sniffy walk, pets and belly rubs, rolling and playing on the grass, or just chilling out on his bed. Eros is an active guy and loves walks and indoor enrichment like a snuffle mat or peanut butter kong. He is medium energy. When getting ready for his walks, Eros will give full body wiggles to show his enthusiasm. He loves to cuddle and has little respect for personal space (in a very cute and endearing way!). He likes to snuggle under your arm and give you hugs and kisses. He is an entertaining companion and sure to bring lots of laughs. Eros may take a moment to meet and warm up to new people but once he does he is nothing but loving and attentive. Eros currently gets two walks between 30-45 minutes each, plus play time in the backyard, potty breaks, and indoor and outdoor enrichment such as treat puzzles, frozen lick mats, or foraging games. He can pull on leash when he finds something very interesting but can be redirected. He may react to other dogs he sees on leash by crying or barking and may react to strangers by becoming tense and growling or barking, especially if strange men approach him. Sometimes he has no problem passing people on the street. His fosters are working on this will him by giving him space from strangers and redirecting his attention to them or blocking his view until he calms down. In the house, Eros wants to be close to his people. He has been left both in and out of the crate and while he is not destructive, he is vocal and will cry and bark for up to 20 minutes. His fosters are working on this with him but his adoptive family should be prepared to continue helping him cope with this anxiety. Eros sleeps through the night on his bed in his fosters' room. Eros is working on basic training and knows sit, down, and is working on stay and recall (has not been tested off-leash). He is potty trained. His adoptive family will need to continue working on basic obedience with him. Eros previously lived with another dog and did well with him but sometimes he can't take a hint and got in the other dog's face. He really wants to play and can't always take cues from other dogs. He would likely do very well with a playful, patient dog who can tolerate his puppy antics and show him the ropes, but would also be fine as the only dog in the home. Eros hasn't been exposed to cats and is looking for a cat-free home. Eros' perfect family will be active and patient as he gets comfortable and builds his confidence. He would do great in a house with a backyard to run around and burn some energy. He would do well with older, dog-savvy kids (10+) but his enthusiastic style of play might be too much for smaller children. He needs a committed family who can work with him on basic obedience, and boosting his confidence. Eros has all the makings of an exceptional family pet and we can't wait for this very good boy to find his special family. Eros is a flight risk and our top priority in his furever home is safety. His forever family must take precautions to keep him safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker which will be required for adoption. If you're interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Eros' adoption has been sponsored by F+R. Story
Martha / Female / Approx. 2 years/ Weight 69lbs / Lab x Shepherd/Good With Dogs / Untested With Kids / Untested With Cats / From Tennessee/ Fostered in Toronto Meet Martha! Martha's foster describes her as a sweet girl who loves to cuddle. Martha came to us from our partner rescue in Tennessee where she grew up with her littermates. She loves playing with her humans, chew toys, and puzzle games! Martha is a big softie and would be the perfect companion to stay cozy and watch Netflix with this winter. Martha likes following her foster around like a shadow and seeks comfort and reassurance from him. She also likes meeting people. She prefers to meet them outdoors and is a bit fearful/nervous indoors when new people come into her space. While she hasn’t met any children, her sweet and gentle disposition lead us to believe that she would do well with dog savvy children who are old enough to understand and respect her boundaries. Martha is still learning to feel safe and adapt to her new environment - where she is making so much progress every day! She is obsessed with food and treats. Combined with her strong desire to please her family, she will be easy to train. Now she is perfecting her recall and even learning to shake a paw! Martha enjoys enrichment activities such as games, puzzles, and learning new tricks which help her use energy while feeling safe in a familiar setting. Martha is still building confidence with loud noises and busy areas, so patience with training will be needed in helping her reach her potential. She is both curious and nervous meeting other dogs, often giving others a potential sniff while keeping her distance. However after a meeting or two, she has shown to make best friends with many of the dogs in her current neighborhood! Careful and measured introductions to other dogs will be helpful as she builds confidence and learns to play more with other dogs. The same goes for humans. Martha can be especially shy and for people visiting her home. Slow instructions are crucial and she does best with humans who give her space and let her come to them. She usually just needs some time and patience. Martha is working on getting her basics down. She is learning to walk on a leash, and pee outside. She sleeps on a bed next to her foster, and is trusted with free reign of the housel. This very good girl has been left alone up to 4 hours without issue. Martha's ideal home would be outside the busy city centre and have a fenced in yard for her to run around in. She would benefit from a patience family and a quiet home where she can feel secure and let her lovely personality shine. She bonds with people quickly, loves love, and would be happy living wherever her person is. Martha lived with another dog prior to coming into our care and would likely do well with a resident dog, and it may even help build her confidence. We would not recommend cats due to her personality. Looking for a mellowed out couch buddy? If you have a little patience and are willing to help this girl come out of her shell, you just may have a best friend for life in Martha! If you’re interested in adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Martha’s adoption fee is $850. Mac is friendly, loyal and active. Mac prefers people over anything else! This boy's needs are pretty simple - a one-person or one-couple home and some moderate daily exercise, followed by a place next to you, he is happiest finding a comfy place to be wherever you are. When he is with his people he is an affectionate cuddlebug who will amuse you with his expressive face and cute mannerisms. He is a dog that looks to people for leadership and guidance - great qualities for training; his trainer says ‘once he meets you, he is a friend for life!"ABOUT MAC:- Mac is a Lab/Shepherd mix, 5 year old, male, mid-sized approximately 45 lb - Mac is a tripod, he has 3 legs his back left leg was amputated after an injury - Mac is neutered, house-trained, microchipped and has his core vaccinations - He is friendly and does better with calm, slow introductions- He will bond and follow his person(s) everywhere they go in the houseThis boy doesn't pull on walks and will focus on you but he needs you to honour his way of communicating his desires. He likes meeting people but not other dogs on his walks (not right now, anyway) while he has been with us Mac has been working with a trainer and he's making progress. His trainer has made great strides with his vocalness to seeing other dogs on a walk, with space and distance he does well. Our trainer looks forward to working with his adopters to ensure a successful transition and knowledge transfer to his new family.MAC'S IDEAL HOME:- A detached home with a fenced yard in a quiet neighbourhood- Home with one or two people who are home more often than not and not many visitors- Someone who will be able to maintain his health and give him daily moderate exercise- A family willing to continue to work with his trainer on his socializationIf you think Mac would be a great addition to your pack, we want to hear from you! Story
Introducing Duke!! Duke is a senior dog looking for a nice retirement home during his golden years. He arrived as a stray and we were unable to find his previous owners. Duke really seems like a one-man dog. He’s loyal to his human, doesn’t care for strangers or other animals, and would prefer to have all the TLC for himself! He enjoys playing outside, going for long walks, and entertains himself with chew toys. SO MANY CHEW TOYS!! Duke may have some mild resource guarding with his toys. He’s not a fan of sharing while playing but will trade for something more valuable. For this reason, a home with young children is not recommended. Duke is all healthy despite having a minor issue with his ear which has been recovering amazingly with treatment! We would be happy to provide a copy of his medical records for review with your own vet prior to adoption! If you are interested in our boy, please contact Toronto Animal Services West Region at (416) 338-PAWS (7297) between 10:30AM - 6:30PM for more information about Duke!

Story
Heather - Heather -------------------- Name: Heather Age: 4 months and a half (Born on June 15th) Gender: Female Weight: 10 kilograms Breed: Mix (Mother is a Labrador mix, Father is a mix breed) Vaccination and Neutering: Vaccination is complete, and neutering is planned for the future. Relationship with adults: Heather is friendly and likes people but can be a bit restless. She's a lively pup and resembles her mom in both looks and temperament. Relationship with kids: Heather hasn't met kids, but she seems to be friendly and approachable. Relationship with other dogs: She gets along well with her siblings and has been trained not to play too roughly. She can adjust and play in a controlled manner. Relationship with cats: Heather has met a cat but approached it too enthusiastically. She didn't show aggression but needs to learn some manners. House training: Heather mostly does her business indoors and is good with pee pads. Energy level: Being a young large breed puppy, her energy level is high. Ongoing training is necessary to make her attentive to human commands. Separation anxiety/Barking: Heather doesn't have separation anxiety and doesn't bark much even when playing actively. Touch and handling: Heather enjoys being touched and licking instead of nipping. She has been trained to lick rather than nip. She likes being close to people. Walking on the leash: She is a bit unsure about collars and harnesses but enjoys walks. Escape artist: Heather doesn't try to escape but may push through a low fence to approach people. Rescue Story: Heather was rescued from a difficult situation. She had her right front leg amputated when she was just two months old, and she suffered from gangrene. Despite receiving no medical treatment, she was left tied up in a stone yard. She was discovered in distress and rescued.
